Must have got way too many since a lot of people didnt get one

I think we need a word for when someone buys a whole bundle of something, and other people miss out.

    • +6

Haha, good to see you still around Broden. Shame of these new folks don't know your origin story

  • Cheers, hope it serves as a decent night light option

    • +2

It's pretty good, have it stuck to the bottom of my kids cot and it's helpful to avoid stubbed toes at night

      • Perfect, thats exactly what I'm wanting to avoid too haha

  • Only one available and no free Prime postage.

    • +2

You are seeing a third party seller (who is selling for $16 + $19.95 postage), if you can't see the $16 Amazon option they must not ship this item to you, try a different address if possible.

      • Thanks. You are right, they don't do free postage to regional Victoria.

      • Sorry, it was showing only one available for regional Victoria address.

  • why not get aliexpress 30m for the same price?

    • Link?

    • Does it work well? Do you have a link?

      • Supposedly $16 soon here ive tried the 1m and it works fine for just ambient light

        • Whats the app like?

          • @lonewolf: i think the one i have is slightly different but looks about the same. it works fine, not a ton of different effects but u get the usual colour wheel. Also has a time feature to turn on and off at certain time

  • Has anyone tried running led strips like these from a battery/powerbank? Looking for a solution as I don't have a wall plug near where I want to install something like this.

You can do it custom if you want that, here's a video from an Aussie creator who did something similar.
It's gonna cost a bit more than this kit though

      • Thanks will look into this

  • Got 2, thanks OP

Just a heads up. These things have TERRIBLE led density, like 1/inch. Don't hang these in direct sight lines or within 30cm of a reflective surface unless you want to have a teenager tictok vibe

    • +1

      Yeah these are not great.

Can get much better on AliExpress

    • In that case would the ones with the frosted white casing be better, as it helps to diffuse the light more evenly?

      • it does - if you mean the alu c-channel with frosted cap

      • I dont think a frosted white casing will do anything for such a low density LED. Look up on you tube and you will see how at least 60 LEDs/meter is the minimum with a good frosted casing to work (no black spots) - a low quality ebay one will do absolutel f all. I have got a 120 LEDs/Meter in such a casing and I can still see individual LEDs - buy the good stuff.

    • I don't know what this means but I'm loving every minute of it

  • Cheers OP ;)

  • what is the use case of this (elegantly)?

    • Maybe under or behind your desk? As an ambient lighting

I had another brand which broke last week so got 2 now. I did set it up with home assistant and installed it on my kid's room so when I want him I just ask Hi google, locate junior and the lights will flash to let him know he has to come to the other side of the house lol. Then also on a schedule for when its almost sleep time and so on. Guess there's better use cases for them but thats mine lol

  • 5 per account haha

  • do these work with home assistant?

    • Tapo things work well with amazon alexa

    • +2

Not very well from what I have read. For Home Assistant are better off getting an ESP32 board from a deal like this, installing WLED and getting an LED strip from BTF-LIGHTING on Aliexpress if you want a quality individually addressable RGB+WHITE strip.

      • Wow… I just went down a rabbit hole…

ESP32, WLED, Lighting strips, peripherals, Power supplies…. ……

  • OOS

  • “Sorry, the quantity you requested is no longer available. We updated your quantity to the maximum available.”

    Quantity: 0

  • Damn it, I was busy trick or treating

  • back in stock with delayed dispatch

    • Doesnt let me checkout.

      • ah yep, same here - I should have tested that before getting your hopes up

      • once again in stock and this time it let me checkout. seems like they're dripfeeding the stock levels

  • Bought 3. Seems to still work although delayed shipping

I picked up some arlec ones from Bunnings recently for 5 bucks each, haven't installed them yet but a better bargain if they work properly. They have sound reactive mode also (unsure if these do)
