  • Rep can you please clarify which i7 processor you are using?

Also does the system have USB 3.0?

And what about a free upgrade for Ozbargainers to a slightly higher spec GPU?

    • +1

We are using a Intel Quad i7-3770 @ 3.4Ghz Processor.

Yes the motherboard supports 2x USB3.0 Ports in the rear of the desktop.

Regarding the free upgrade to GPU. Sorry we can't do any further deals with this offer.

  • +1

Not a gamer, but wouldn't a SSD make life so much easier? Or is it not needed once the game is loaded on the ram?

    • +4

Besides loading times it won't affect gaming performance, which this build seems to be aimed at. Being $650 all up, putting an SSD in there would detract a lot from other components.

EDIT: also some advice to prospective gaming PC buyers, I'd get the i5 build and spend the extra $100 to upgrade to a HD7850. Looking at this review it consistently gets about double the framerate of a 7750.

      • +1

SSD's do affect gaming performance in a few badly coded/ported games around.

    • SSD would be a great idea, probably something to add afterwards

  • +3

The 3470 package seems best. I don't know why you'd offer an i7 when it only has a 7750 GPU (the bare minimum for a gaming system).

    • +2

Good point, the i5 is better suited to gaming anyway.

    • Honestly, that GPU is still the bottleneck when gaming even on the i3.

For gaming, at this price range, you want an HD 7850 I'd say.

      • I've had a bit of a look around and the pricing is good on this, be nice to add a 7850 but if you can find a comparable deal with a 7850 I'm sure everyone would be interested in seeing it.
They do have an upgrade option for the HD7850 for around $130.

        $320 i7 CPU/Heatsink
        $75 MB
        $90 GPU
        $50 RAM
        $77 HDD
        $25 DVD
        $57 Case/PSU

Prices from various ebay and staticice listings all in Aus.

  • What is the model number of the PSU? Thanks

    • -1

Its a 620W Honli PSU. Can support graphics card up to a Nvidia GTX660 or ATI HD-7870.

      • +9

Sure it can, so can a Yumcha 5000w PSU before it explodes.

Don't skimp on the PSU, put a brand name in it, you'll get more buyers.

And at least put the PSU in the spec list as well.

      • +2

Apparently, according to mrpcgeek (as I found out in another forum, based on the forum-user experience), honli psu usually provides 100 W less than advertised.

        And thats why its cheaper.

        I agree with subw00fer comment.

yeap, back in the days of pentium, there were hardly any PC's with graphics card that gobble up equally as much power as the processor, so generic PSU's had a thriving market.

these days, hardware gets faster but at the cost of eating up more power, so don't overlook PSU's anymore as it could destroy your other components. Reliable PSU's doesn't need to have 600w or 800w written on the box, it needs to have good reviews, a bronze 80+ rating and a reputable manufacturer etc. A reliable 500W PSU will outdo any generic 800W PSU's anyday so don't believe the numbers.

      • +1

yeah I'd probably buy it is it had a better PSU as Id want to upgrade to the 7850.

I havent followed graphics cards in years. Has ATI surpassed Geforce?

        • cost for effectiveness wise, yes.
          super high end gpus, no.

REP never responded to my email, even after pointing it out to rep in a similar thread. Guess the request was too hard.

    • We reply to all emails. If your email was in regards to a AMD package. We don't sell them sorry.

      • -1

No, it was in regards to a customer built-mini ITX package. Given that you reply to all emails I look forward to your response.

        • We did reply to your email. We don't sell ITX I'm afraid. Only mATX or ATX motherboard and cases.

        • -1

Nothing from Mrpcgeek ever reached my inbox or spam folder. Whatever.

        • at least provide your email address to make it easier for them :)

        • -1

I gave it to them in the last thread. And the rep acknowledged the post I made.

  • Rep or anybody. Which system (if any) would be good for video editing?

    • Any of these packages can handle video editing. It all just comes down to how quickly you need it to edit. Getting a i7 will enable hyper treading 8x.

The i7 also has Intel HD Graphics 4000. The on-board graphics can encode your video edit much quicker then having a discrete graphics card. To get advantage of this its best you upgrade the motherboard to a Z77 which allows you to use the on-board graphics when doing editing and use the video card when playing movies, games ect.

  • Can someone please recommend a better psu which will be great value for money and not a crappy generic. Also whats a good motherboard with usb 3.0 ports
I don't want to game but want a long lasting PC that will not slow down significantly for years to come. My last pc is nearly 5 years old and is starting to show its age. I want to build a multimedia pc

    • Corsair, Enermax, Silverstone, Seasonic (My fav).

They're the major ones, few other brands aren't bad either, Antec are pretty good too.

    • What do you call a Multimedia PC?

  • Needed a computer… Hope this was a good buy. I compared msy prices and this and building it yourself will only save around $30

  • Has anyone dealt with Mr PC Geek before? Because I an definitely tempted to buy today with those systems if I can get a card reader installed. Also Mr Pc geek what would it cost to get a 64 bit copy of windows 7 or 8 (Whichever is cheaper)?

    • +1

      Hello,

We can include a card reader for an additional $5. If your interested please email us as we don't have this upgrade option on our website.

As for Windows. We have these upgrade options listed on the right of the listing.

      Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) OEM = $99
      Windows 8 Standard (64-bit) OEM = $109

I bought a pc from a deal about 12 months ago
Customised some items (case, psu & ssd) from advertised deal
Very easy to deal with - fast response to emails etc
Build was excellent e.g. cables are very neat etc - much better than I can do (or be bothered)
Prices were about same as buy and assemble yourself especially including post if you live outside metro (like I do)
In short - very happy and I can recommend
