CamelCamelCamel.P1S combo is far better value. Much better print quality (Core-XY v. bedslinger) and can print a wider variety of filament types due to the enclosure. Only real negatives are the harder-to-change nozzle and the tiny screen.
General consensus is the print quality is not much difference between A1 and P1S.
Depends, I guess. Tall, thin prints are much better with Core-XY. Can't get around physics. Anything where bed adhesion is an issue, Core-XY is also ahead (particularly if it's enclosed and reducing warping). Can slow the bedslinger down to counter this, but where's the fun in that?
p1s is also incredibly loud relative to A1, and not capable of silent mode. That could have changed since i researched though.
This isn't an issue for most people though
P1S is not "incredibly loud" at all (source: I own a P1S), in fact the cooling fans are louder than any movement noise the printer makes.
@deadpoet: Anyone have both to compare?
Fans can be quite often be the noisest component on any device. The fan on the A1 isnt exactly quiet either
P1S is superior for more delicate prints and exotic materials as there is lower risk of the print wobbling and warping (even PLA warps though minimally). Where the A1 has advantages is in robust PLA printing and volume printing. The open air cooling of the A1 naturally helps PLA firm up quicker and consistently. Also making an automated eject system works much more easily on the A1 allowing you to print many widgets back to back without intervention. I love my P1S to prototype designs quickly and reliably but I need an A1 for anything I need to produce in bulk as long as the filaments are ones needing an enclosure.
pretty sure it was $650 on their offical site not long ago
Direct doesnt include shipping which can be as much as $100 for some states
Also you'll likely get charged a foreign transaction fee even though you're charged in AUD.
Taking into account shipping costs - https://au.store.bambulab.com/policies/shipping-policy
This is cheaper for WA and NT, and the same price for Tas
Hopefully amazon can match, for free delivery
619 is a freaking awesome price and i would highly recommend for any one on the fence
still regularly using my a1 and a1m+amslite.
Do you find the a1 mini enough?
Yeah I use it like 90% of the time - i find it actually a little quicker, quieter, less table vibration while I work/game. The a1 bigger build plate has saved me quite a few times with avoiding post processing and glue/solder melting.
I kind of wish they would do like an a1 max or something with a 400 400 400 build plate lol
-54% $709.00
RRP: $1,548.45
LOL BS
I will buy a 3D printer one day - just want to know that I will use it, rather than it being a short-lived novelty.
So if the model has the word combo behind it, it simply means that the spools are contained in a unit attached to the top of the printer?
It usually sits on the side.
I would recommend to go combo if you can afford. Don’t underestimate how much more choice you get when you can print from 4 spools at a time.
But otherwise yes. Combo is printer with the ams lite. That’s it.
It also blows my mind when people report they buy a printer but then don’t find a use for it… like the app is sooooooooo nice, has a hugeeee library of pre sliced and ready to print with 1 button files, and is so easy to troubleshoot/maintain…
The combo with the BambuLabs printers are for their automatic material systems (AMS), which allows you to print with 4 colours which are stored in a unit. You can connect multiple AMS units via a buffer or a hub depending on different factors.
I had the exact same concerns - I like new things and lose interest pretty early one. The thing is, this thing prints new things… so it is like fulfilling my shopping desires at a fraction of the cost of actually buying things.
The good (or bad) thing about Bambu labs is that there is a big community app (Bambu Handy or Makerworld) where you can download and print things people share at the cost of your own filament and that list is forever increasing.
The good thing about buying tools, rather than toys, is that you are limited to your imagination so if you run out of things to do with the printer, then you just need more inspiration.
Well said hhuy837
not a deal habibs
best option IMO is to get the P1s without AMS… AMS is good, but so much filament is wasted… To me is a good to have not a must have, I would definitely go for the P1s at 599+ship instead of this offer. )that's what I have currently btw)
Go the P1S with AMS. If you find you don't need or use the AMS, you can always sell it for pretty much what you paid for it. To buy the AMS later is far more expensive. The amount of people asking if I would sell my AMS separately when I was selling my Bambu Labs A1 combo was ridiculous.
I have to ask, what is the hub vs buffer spec difference?
So it looks like (based on recommendations & lower feature buyers remorse) the 2 models to get are:
P1S AMS 2 Pro Combo with Buffer $1299 (currently reduced to $1059) OR
P1S AMS 2 Pro Combo with Hub $1329 (currently reduced to $1089)
But, if the P2S are coming shortly, and making the assumption that the above rrp's will apply to the new model, for the sake of a $240 saving, I am not sure if I would be happy getting the outgoing model.
Also I would speculate that the P2S's will have some sort of price reduction early in the new year.
P2S has only just been released. Highly doubt it would be reduced in price so early in it's product lifecycle
I wasn't even aware it had been released yet. I have seen some press releases.
Am I wrong in thinking that the P1S Combo at $899 is a much better value than this?
