Ryobi 12v Lithium Ion Drill Driver was $129 now $65 @ Bunnings

130

Not a bad little drill at half price. These are on clearance, so not sure what stores have stock. I found mine at the Mill Park Bunnings (Vic). They still had 3 left when i grabbed mine.

Kit includes 2 Li Batteries, double ended bit and a carry bag.

I usually use the Bosch Blue gear http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/92976
and I would recommend the Bosch for anyone serious, but for $65 I am keeping this at work.

  • How do these compare to the 18 Volt range?

    • +4

Really a different drill. This would be great for putting Ikea furniture together and is really light.
For the handyman, the 18volt Ryobi has a great range of other tools you can use the 18v battery on.

Personally, I think this would be a drill you would have in addition to an 18volt.

      • Cheers for the response :)

      • I bought that little Ozito 3.6V Lion ScrewDriver next to it to do the light jobs like Ikea furniture - $30ish

        • I also have a little 3.6v Bosch Ixo. You will see a big step up in torque when you go 12v.

          My summary…..

3.6v Great for PC cases and OK for Ikea.
12v Great for Ikea and OK for small jobs.
18v Great for most things but the size and weight (and cost?) become an issue.

Note that the price may not be marked down on the shelf; ask one of the staff to do a price check for you if that's the case.

    • Good advice.

Looks like they've drilled down the price on this one.

    • +2

Yeah but that's really gonna put a hole in their profit margin :-P

Oh dear, more boring jokes :-)

  • would this $65 12v ryobi be better than a $78 18v ozito? (assuming that my local bunnings will pricematch ie)

    • Depends what you are using it for. The small size of this 12v is an advantage. Also 1 hour charge verses 5 for Ozito (info from Bunnings website). For general use, I would prefer the Ryobi, but again depends on usage.

But then I also have a 3.6v, 10.8/12v and and 18volt at home and use all of them - I use the 10.8/12v Bosch the most.

(FYI, 10.8 and 12 volt devices usually have the same battery just quoted differently by manufacturers.
For example, the 10.8 Bosch drills are called 12v in the US for marketing purposes - sort of the old deal with people quoting speakers at peak or RMS - same speaker can have different numbers)

Gotta be careful there though, NiCad drills also come in 3.6, 12V, and 18V varieties. Don't just look at the voltage, make sure it says lithium-ion on the box.

        • Yep. In 2013 you would be silly to buy anything but a Lithium-Ion. I would not touch or recommend anything else - even for a novice.

Just went to bunnings Darwin. Scanned at full price but the manager was happy to do $65. Said they are deleted stock.

Store in Melton said they wouldn't price match it.. said it was up to the store manager…

So went to Caroline Springs store… Talk to one of the guys .. he spoke to the Manager and no probs

    $65….

    Thanks OP..

  • No luck in Launceston. They said clearances are nation wide and they haven't been notified. This despite showing them the shelf photo from mill park

Went into Bunnings Sunshine Vic store today. They have a few left after I got my fill of 2. No ticket to highlight discount and scans at $129. I showed the Ozbargain link to the girl in the Tool shop and within 20 seconds she matched at $65. She said is was flagged "F" which apparently means a deleted line.

  • Ok so I'm at bunnings browns plains now and they have some in stock. BUT they also have a ozito cordless 12v single sleeve keyless chuck, 2 speed variable, li lon battery x 2, charger and charger base, kit box and 6 drill bits for $69

    Which is better?

Edit: the bunnings guy said that the ryobi has better gearing etc whereas the ozito has plastic insides

    • the ryobi has higher torque too, 25Nm max versus ozito's 15Nm i think

and the battery charges in 1 hour compared to ozito's 3-5 hours

i got my pricematched @ parramatta, nsw. they girl at the desk had to call a manager who came down and talked to me and checked the pic. he also called his manager to confirm and finally they gave it to me. they did ask me which bunnings it was, couldn't remember so i said "gordon" (from the gyro deal lol)

Hi, I went in and picked up the last one at Watergardens,VIC. The price on it was $110 and like someone mentioned in the comments, just ask them or show them the photo OP uploaded and they will match the price. The checkout girl didn't do it but the guy in charge of the hardware/tools did. Great buy tho. Thanks a lot for sharing this.

Went to Bunnings Auburn NSW (Next to Costco) this afternoon. Scanned at full price and the worker refused to price match with another Bunning, but after contacting the manager/supervisor they agreed to price match it to $65 because it flagged in the system a "F" which means a discontinue product.

Just bought one from Chatswood Bunnings (NSW). Only one left ticketed at full RRP $129. After I showed them the picture from this post the guy called the manager and they gave it to me for $65. Thank you deal88 for posting the deal!

I grabbed one from Bunnings Scoresby. Was listed at $129. Scanned as that too. But showing the pic in this post did the trick. Oh, and that it was flagged for deletion on their system.
