  • EDIT: Thanks worked thanks :-)

    • Align your eyes toward the bottom of Account Settings page
      https://www.box.com/settings
under Login Information you can "Add more Emails", & then just switch which you'd prefer as primary.

Edit: ^For anyone stumped on where to delete your email (old) from inside box.com

Got my first SPAM email from Box, urging me to tell my friends about them. And there is no option to "opt out" of their spam. Dodgy, now I regret giving them my email address.

    • there are unsubscribe links on the emails. also there is an account settings option you can uncheck 'Newsletter: Keep up to date with all things Box.'

I could offer you spelling lessons, that wouldn't be useless.

Your original comment suggests you don't understand the capabilities of Box (or perhaps cloud in general) so I won't bother explaining its benefits.

    • Depends what you want to do with it. I really like how it lets you tag files, also allows you to go through your revision history, which can be useful…

After using tags in gmail instead of folders for sorting email and finding how useful they are I was really disappointed to see Google drive works with a folder paradigm instead of tags.

If all you want to do is store your photos and stolen music collection, I guess box doesn't offer much compared to dropbox. But for distributed collaboration on files it kicks arse on Google drive (and I'm a Google fan boy)

      • Yeah, Google drive has been my favourite from the start although it's been a love/hate relationship and now with Box's recent implementations it's clearly superior I think. I am not just speaking from a free point of view either as I do intend to purchase a business cloud account later this year and I no longer think it'll be with Google, it's now just a redundancy cloud for me.

What peeves me off about Google, they create some cool stuff and then completely neglect it. If they just assigned some of their many employees to ongoing efforts they could be so much more.

Incidently, what sort of collaboration does Google offer? Due to its 6GB limit I never even looked for such a feature. Box's collaboration as you say is awesome.

Biggest criticism of Google is their inability to define niche markets. They try to cover everything and I question whether I can use a product with no certainity it'll be around in the future. e.g. Google Video, Google Desktop & soon iGoogle. There would be many other services that have been closed too. A recent decision to turn off ActiveSync in g-mail etc too demonstrates they're the new Microsoft.

        • you are very right about that. It just about sums up Google's attempts at providing enterprise services: one size fits all, assuming close is good enough.

        i value my privacy :)

  • I signed up ages ago and got 50 GB then, but between Drop box and Google drive have never had to look further.

  • got it ,thanks op

  • There has been talk about finding a way to copy files from other cloud services to Box. I think this app will do just that.

    https://www.box.com/services/cloudhq

  • Can anyone clarify what Box means by this in there terms?

"You hereby grant Box and its contractors the right, to use, modify, adapt, reproduce, distribute, display and disclose Content posted on the Service solely to the extent necessary to provide the Service or as otherwise permitted by these Terms. "

    • +3

They may need to move your shiz from one data center to another - that concerns using, modifying, adapting, reproducing, distributing. As for display and disclose, maybe that's to cover their tech team's Friday night entertainment… laughing at your pics on the projector in the board room :-P

  • damn shame my optus cable 1tb download plan has only 70kbps or so upload lol, wont be easy to backup or upload much:(

    • Yeah I have 100kB/s upload but I was thinking today as I set my Box to sync 6000 files (30GB) that it would be great if I knew someone on the NBN. 40mB/s would make light work of this.

      • Pity they don't let you mail in your data; eg. Google Paper in reverse

        • Interesting concept

    • Yeah, I'm on a 20GB plan, and have 190kbps (~23.5KB/s), so not only would it take me ages to upload data, I wouldn't even be able to upload/download 50GB in one month…

    • The eternal conundrum. LTE/4G could back it up inside 1 day, but would cost hundreds of dollars. DSL/cable may back it up _ & for a few dollars, but will take several days. :`(

I tried it today, it seems not working anymore. I still have 5GB

    • +1

You did something wrong, I'm guessing you didn't use the link attached to this deal.

I just tested with a junk account and 50GB is still alive. If you want that particular email address to be associated with a 50GB account follow the directions on the deal, otherwise just delete the account and try again (using the link this time)

      • Thanks… I've got the wrong link. maybe during the multiple tabs open.
        All fixed… thanks again Click_it

        • Glad it's all sorted. Can do a lot more with 50GB! :)

  • Thanks for this OP! Using this now

  • i just upgraded my account to enterprise for free (max file size is still 250MB). any disadvantages?

    Account type: Enterprise
    Storage (used/total): 934.0MB / 50.0GB 2% used
    Bandwidth used: 0B
Max file size: 250 MB — Upload files up to 5GB, view upgrade options

    • How? :D

      • Yes, how?…

BTW, xis123, did that name come from the ISP that once existed? (XiS)

      • i registered as a developer (there is a link on the right somewhere) and the account automatically gets upgraded to enterprise. i'm not sure if there is any advantage. max file size doesn't increase. you do get an admin console. i remember seeing a link you could click to revert back to a normal personal account.

      • i discovered registering as developer limits you to 5gb, so maybe not so wise to do so.

    Seems to be expired.

    • Literally just tried it again and it worked. Did you click the link above? Or just goto box.com by yourself?

      • Good point.

        • mheloy made the same mistake a few posts above. Just follow the steps to correct.

  • Wish I could + this three times, that 150GB of storage is going to be damn handy while I'm overseas taking photos

    • +1

And with the collaborate feature you could have that 150GB accessible from the one account. Not sure if there are restrictions on collaboration. We have 3 total in this household now too.
