[Melb] HSBC Chadstone Free $50 Chadstone Gift Card. Req New Account, Creditcard or Homeloan

70

Was just visiting Chadstone and I found this advertised all over the centre:
* Open a new HSBC Day to Day account with a deposit of new-to-bank funds of $500, or
* Be approved for a new Credit Card, or
* Be approved for a Home Loan
at the HSBC Chadstone branch before 5 May 2013, and you will receive a $50 Chadstone gift voucher to spend on anything at the centre.

Note: If you're an existing HSBC customer, churning funds from other HSBC accounts or refinancing existing HSBC loans will not qualify you for the $50 gift voucher.

Easy way around the new-to-bank funds rule is:
1. Walk outside
2. Withdraw $500 from the ATM
3. Walk back inside
4. Deposit the $500 you just withdrew
Try not to get robbed in the meantime (shouldn't be too hard as this is Chadstone, not Knifepoint)

  • Do you get the giftcard on the spot or is it posted to you later?

      Small print says:
"Voucher will be available for collection in branch 2 months from taking up the offer."

Not sure if this means "it will be sitting there for 2 months, after which it gets revoked", or if it means "you will need to wait for 2 months before collecting it". My guess is the latter.

  • If I take out two homeloans, can I get two gift cards?

    • I doubt it, because after you apply for the homeloan, you'll be an existing customer so won't be eligible. However, if your friend/family where to apply as well and were not existing customers, then sure, why not? They they could transfer the home loan amount to your name… although, that is ALOT easier said than done and probably not worth the $50 card.

I like the OP's suggestion better.
