Two questions (copied from 'Torrent freak' website)

    1. Do you keep ANY logs which would allow you or a 3rd party to match an IP address and a time stamp to a user of your service? If so, exactly what information do you hold?

    2. Under what jurisdictions does your company operate and under what exact circumstances will you share the information you hold with a 3rd party?

  • Does it support port forwarding?

  • @rohanp16: We only keep login logs: IP and timestamp mainly to prevent multiple logins or account sharing. But no activity logs are kept. The jurisdiction is Hong Kong, as the company is registered there. We will have to provide information if local law enforcement requires us to do so.

@cookie_lu: No, port forwarding will not work as you will be going through an additional server.

    • Thanks for the clear reply rep :)

  • I'm guessing people haven't hear of Hola

    • That's not even comparable to the advantages that an actual VPN offers. Hola is designed off p2p technology which means you'll be forced to upload data to all the other peers (think torrents) so you would ultimately be using more bandwidth than a conventional VPN solution. The company that runs Hola also admits they monitor all of your traffic, so those of us that are security conscience would never use it.

"When you use the Services, Hola collects data about contents that you load from the Internet in order to assist others that later view these contents. Hola correlates this data to your computing device, not with you personally, and only uses this data to provide better Internet service to you and fellow users of Hola. Hola also stores encrypted copies of contents that you load on your computing device in order to provide them to other users of Hola only when they are otherwise eligible for access to these contents without Hola. Hola does not provide authorization for users to view content that they could not have otherwise viewed. In case of a Hola malfunction on your computing device, Hola may collect log information that will assist Hola in solving this malfunction, and will only use it for this purpose."

Should also mention that Hola wouldn't "unblock" every single region restricted website whereas a VPN will.

      • Thanks, I do know VPNs have their advantages, as I have a few… ;)

But for those that don't want to pay just to view Hulu and itv, Hola is free, faster and more convenient…
