  • is it us$ or aud$?

    • USD. Google says AUD is stronger than USD so this should be less than 129.99 in Australian Dollars but that depends on how you're paying and your bank rates. I see the 28degrees Mastercard being mentioned a lot on OzBargain. You don't pay international fees with that card. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can respond.

      • Actually 28Degrees Mastercard fees are about an extra 1% over than the current rate on xe.com. Still 1% is a lot better than the 3%+ the banks charge and 4% that ripoff Amazon and Paypal/Ebay charge for currency conversions. I even managed to get one 5 years ago (with a $1000 credit limit) when I only had a very low income.

      • If you can get a Hyatt Visa card (via Chase bank), they charge no fees for foreign currency transactions (and the foreign exchange rates are good), but I don't know if they are available worldwide.

    • +1

Works out to be ~AUD $133 inc shipping IF you use a card like the 28 degree mastercard AND choose to pay in USD.

  • It clearly states USD on the title and description!

    • +11

Sorry. This is not his fault. I edited the title after replying to his comment, to make it clear that the price was in USD.

    • +9

Isn't that the desktop drive? As in it requires external power.

    • +10

      /facepalm

This happens every time someone post an external hard drive deal.

      • +1

yep, its like a meme now

  • +1

BigW are 3.5" drives most likely

  • +1

How does this compare to the $129 Hitachi drive at Dick Smith?

    • i think you mean the toshiba canvio at dse.

      • +1

Sorry you are right it's the Toshiba

        • Is that 1Tb or 1.5Tb? Can you post a link?

          Thanks.

  • +3

Bought one, no hesitation. Great product, great price.

    • +2

You didn't have any problems sending to an Australian address?

Amazon's telling me "We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

  • +2

Damn, you have to be quick. The ones shipped from Amazon appear to be sold it now and "OnSale" does not ship won't ship this Internationally so I guess it is now expired if someone cares to confirm/update this deal, please.

  • +5

I found this deal for the same hard drive at an online site called retailblue.com :

    http://www.retailblue.com/wdby8l0020bbk-pesn-western-digital…

Price for the HDD is listed as $99.80 with shipping to Queensland costing $11.00, thus totalling $110.80.

However, I've never heard of retailblue.com. A search indicates that they're based in Bondi Junction in NSW. Has anyone had any dealings with this mob?

    • +2

If that is legit it deserves its own post

    • that sounds too good to be true! :O

      • +3

Yeah, I agree - does sound too good to be true. I just emailed them to ask them to confirm that it was indeed the portable 2TB HDD. The part number checks out. I've got the phone number and address of the company. However, I don't want to pay up and then receive a powered (i.e. NON-portable) HDD. So I'm gonna wait for their response before I part with my hard-earned. I'll post the reply back here when I get one.

        • UNAVAILABLE PRODUCT

This product is unavailable or temporary disabled

Guess it was too good to be true

    • There's no bad 'posts by others' on their facebook page, so that's a good sign.
      https://www.facebook.com/retailbluedotcom

      • Retail Blue only had the one in stock apparently.

    • +2

They mustve heard you and quickly scrambled to fix their mistake.

    • dead link now? "This product is unavailable or temporary disabled. "

      • Frig! Either they're checking their emails moment-to-moment, or they're monitoring Ozbargain! How the heck did that happen so quickly? Dammit!

  • I personally don't like the black color but for the price this is an amazing deal! :)

Too bad I just bought a 2TB WD Silver 2.5" at JB for $179 last week. :'(

  • Should be marked as expired as it is no longer available via Amazon.

    • -3

Yes it is still available. Click on "See price in cart" and you'll see the price is now $126.99. However, the reseller at that price doesn't ship to Australia. If you use shipito.com, they'll airmail it to Australia for $19.50 including insurance - that would mean a total price of $146.50.

    • i bought one at 1am and it was fine.

  • +8

OzBargain - killing the Internet one deal at a time

  • cannot ship to Australia?

    • -1

rentony, read my reply to sparkles (2 comments above this one).

      • +1

Thanks anyway, but I would not use shipito for that one because it normally ships to Au.

  • -6

anyone tried price matching with officeworks?

  • +1

    It is now AU$131.98 + Shipping $7.78 = AU$139.76

  • I'm at TGG Maribrynong, melbourne. Sales guy does not price matching. Says these are online products.

    They list this as $199.

    • +2

LOL!! you actually asked them to price match US Amazon?????

I would like to see you asking JB HiFi price match Amazon UK for BluRay
and seeing you asking Officeworks to price match B&H…..

  • +1

Was going to buy a toy from amazon anyway, now with this deal, still same postage. It's a winner.

    • Shipping prices with Amazon really is amazing!

  • +2

USD $138.87 shipped to Melbourne. Amazon expedited.

I always pay in USD though because amazon's currency converter is different to Aussie banks converter. So I end up saving 3-4 bucks everytime. :P

$138.87 USD will convert to $135 AUD approx.

    • deathjr, how did you get it to ship to Melbourne. When I put my Brisbane address in, it returns with :

"We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

      • Make sure seller is Amazon. Others won't ship to AU.

        • Yeah, but how did you do that? It's giving me the company called OnSale as the only option.

          -DISREGARD-

          I worked it out.

          Now $131.98 + $7.78 shipping.

        • When you look up a deal on Amazon, you will always see the Amazon list price and then besides it, there will be others from retailers who're selling via Amazon.com. The trick is to find the correct Amazon list price (do a search on Amazon) and buy from there. That option will ship to your destination.

    • Thanks for the tip. I had not bought from Amazon before/or in a long time due to the limited items shipping to Australia. Ordered mine for $139.19 USD incl. shipping to NSW 2035.

      • Yep, bought 2 shipping to the bra 2035. Hope they don't get our orders mixed up : P

  • Bah I just bought a 1 TB one from CPL for about the same price..

    • return? re-buy?

  • +1

    Must. Resist. Impulse. Buy.

  • +1

Just got one for $138.87 without any issues. Did not have to select Amazon or an affiliate either. Thanks OP.

  • SHOULD I? ARHHGGGG

  • +1

Got one, thanks OP. Have been waiting for a good deal.

  • +1

Thanks OP got one delivered to a PO Box in QLD for $140.08 delivered at 8:30PM QLD time

There goes a weekend consolidating 2 1TB drives on to this beast.

    • I'd recommend keeping 2 backups in case considering space is so cheap now. (Unless they are backups of another drive)

    • so fast! standard delivery? When did you place the order?

  • +1

Thank you OP. Was waiting for this. Need to backup a comp badly. :D

  • +1

    Thanks OP, just bought one.

  • +1

Thank you OP. Been hanging out for bargain WD portable for a long time.

  • +3

Bought this on Friday for 150$ , talked to amazon on chat. Managed to get an 15$ refund.
    Great company to buy from.

  • +2

Thanks just bought one for $139 delivered.
    Cheers.
    Bg.

Also tried to get a case for it but they don't deliver them to Aust? Go figure.

    • I think it depends in the seller, I bought the $6.43 one from Amazon and added it to the same order

The one I wanted was from a different seller and couldn't be shipped to Aus

  • +3

SOLD! Only hesitated because I don't remember my credit card number and had to find my wallet.

  • +1

Just purchased one of these. Lucky I nearly bough one of these yesterday for $183 of Ebay, decided to hold off :) thx ozbargain

  • +1

    Nice find. Just bought one.

  • +1

  • +2

I will match this deal for Any one interested, Express Posted Stock From Melbourne, Extremely Limited though as we have sold many

    • I am interested. I live in Melbourne and might even be able to pick up to reduce the postage price. Can you provide (PM) a contact number?

  • Thank to OP and others. Bought one and applied a credit from some ancient Amazon deal to net US$119.99 shipped to Brissie. (Didn't even realize I had that credit available;^)

    • How did you apply the credit or did you just put in an order and it applied the credit itself?

  • Heads up all, just bought threw Amazon with Credid card for Grand Total: AUD 113.89
    Item(s) Subtotal: AUD 106.11
    Shipping & Handling: AUD 7.78

    Total before tax: AUD 113.89
Estimated tax to be collected: AUD 0.00
Only Allowed 1 Item at that price

    • +2

Wow, just about to post this, but you beat me to it.

But the price is now showing US $105.49 for me. I guess it would be even lower in AUD?

Edit: Hmm, just refreshed the page and it's now unavailable from Amazon again. It's changing by the minute!

      • Now Price: $126.99 US

      • They practice something called "dynamic pricing". The more hits they get the expensive it gets.

        • Ouch !
"The Retailer Strikes Back" … against ozbargain.
          I don't like that movie

  • Shipping to NSW is $31.64 Estimated shipping & handling
    $162.25 Total before tax
Is there a trick to this as I can't get shipping for $7.70?

    • +1

I noticed that over the last few days also. Seems to have corrected itself now and showing the normal shipping price again. Must have been a glitch in the matrix :)

  • thanks ,just ordered one for USD $138.39

  • Wow, cool offer, I am just thinking how much would it cost me for international order, and if they also have custom kindle case custom kindle case for sale?

  • 16/03/13
    $129.99 + 7.98 shipping to Australia now!

  • Cant post to AUS???????

" We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order. "
