  • Got my refund back too just used the photo posted earlier by Ragflan Thanks again.

  • This use USB power or its own power?

Edit - sorry just read topic again now idea how missed that hahaha sorry

I haven't purchased this drive yet but just asking there is no way now to get it for the $105 price still?

    • +3

Nope. Not unless Amazon drops the price. 129.99 is still a great price. Your options:

      1. You can get it now for 129.99, and if the price drops in the next week before you receive your order, you can request Amazon to refund you the difference. Note that I said request. Amazon is not obligated to refund you the difference but they provide excellent customer service and you can see plenty of comments above saying that they got their refunds with no problems.

      2. Pass up on the 129.99 offer and track the drive's price on CamelCamelCamel (CCC). CCC is a great service that tracks product prices on Amazon. Simply register for a CCC account, find the product on the Amazon that you want to track, copy the URL of that page, paste in CCC and set the desired price. For example with this drive: Set the desired price as $110 and CCC will email you when the drive hits that price. Don't set it to 105.49. It could drop to $107 and you'll miss a good deal. Set it to the maximum amount you're willing to pay.

You can repeat #2 with any product on Amazon that you want. Just make sure that Amazon actually ships that product to you or else you'll be tracking it pointlessly. Good luck.

    Here is my pathetic attempt.

Me:I paid $129.99USD (ORDER ##) on my order place 6 days ago however now the price is $105.49 my question is whether its possible you are able to refund the difference? it is a little disappointing to see such a price change within a short period of time.
Sydana:Hi my name is Sydana I will be more than happy to help.
Your email address is ##@internode.on.net, correct?
    Me:fantastic :)
    Yes correct.
    Sydana:Thank you.
I have done some checks n the order and am seeing here that you paid $131.46 and the item is now $129.99 on the website.
I am not seeing the item priced at $105.49
Me:It was 105.49 price only 2-3 days ago.
and you're right I did pay $131.46 my mistake.
Sydana:I am really sorry, I am seeing that price history. However, the system will not allow me to do a price change that is not listed on the website now.
Me:however are you able to refund the difference? which was my initial concern.
Sydana:Yes I am able to refund the difference on the price that is listed on the website now.
    Me:LOL
Sydana:I am seeing a price difference of $1.47. Here's what I will do for you. As an exception I will process a refund for $5.00
    Are you there?
Me:I find it hard to believe you are unable to see the price history of $105.49 as of only a couple days ago! Sadly your time zones means I am unable to always contact you at the appropriate times.
Yes I am still here, sorry web issues.
Sydana:I am seeing the price change for $105.49 the price change was updated a day after. The system will not allow me to process a refund for an item price change that us not listed on the website at the time you contacted.
Me:If you're only offering $5 then you may as well donate it to charity.
Sydana:I am really sorry, I really do wish I had the option to process the refund for the price change of $105.49.
Me:I believe that you would if you could. I thank you for your time Sydana.
    Sydana:You are welcome.
Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
    Me:Nope, thank you.

Ah well that was my pathetic attempt. I initially decided not to worry about obtaining a refund, but in true Ozbargain spirit I tried to get it at a better price.

  • Id give it another shot if I was you Winnieblues.
I spoke with Kiran, and at first he was insistent that the best he could do was the $1.47 refund (131.46 - 129.99) but after sending him links to the posted screenshot and a link to this forum where others also received refunds, he was able to put it through without issue.

He probably didn’t want to get into trouble, but figured if other staff were matching the $105 price it would be Ok.

    • I just checked my email, she'd sent me a transcript of our chat and also tripled her offer of $5 to $15 dollars credit refund based on her email. I guess when I laughed at her $1.47 refund followed by an offer of $5 she realised it was a pretty lame attempt to keep a customer happy. All in all I am happy I got 'something back' and I just received my parcel this afternoon so all is forgiven!

  • probably a bit late but hopefully this might help someone… $5.84 with free international shipping for an OEM Western Digital Passport neoprene carry case,

  • Received mine today, didn't take long hey!

Initial setup had a few issues. First driver didn't install correctly but unpluging then plugging it in again seemed to work. Then all the folders containing the WD software, drivers, etc, were corrupt (which might explain the driver issue). Easy fix was to simply run scan disk and let windows fix it and that worked but you will loose all the files. You can download them from the WD website here http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=218&sid=…

    Update

What I should have done was download the 'WD SES Driver' from the above link first and maybe the files wouldn't have read as corrupted. I think having autorun disabled on my system might have been the reason the driver didn't install in the first place.

Anyhoo this might help if you encounter the corrupted file issue. Regardless its still a great deal.
