I just noticed you can order this online if you cannot get to a HN store before the sale ends today.

  • Oh, another thing. I tried to price match at DSE as I have a gift card. They wouldn't match the HN price on the basis it was below their cost price. I doubt they would of paid $96 wholesale but that was the reason I was given.

  • Nice, only a few bucks more than the HL-2240D I got from Staples a few years back. It also has ethernet connectivity which is lacking on my 2240D which I'd use over wireless.

Assuming there will be others 2240D owners reading this, a comparison list of features between the two models can be found here:
    http://all-in-one-printers.findthebest.com/compare/488-589/B…

They also share the same cartridge which is good news.

if you dont need duplex this is also a good deal http://www.harveynorman.com.au/brother-hl-2135w-monochrome-l…

  • F************!!!!

I bought this 2 weeks ago at $125 delivered! :(

Excellent printer. Cartridge for this printer = $18 delivered!

Refill is as simple as pulling a plug, refilling, closing the refill plug and resetting a spring gear.

    • Please advise on the $18 toner. Is it genuine or aftermarket? Has anyone noticed any deference between the two?

      • Aftermarket off ebay. At most maybe yield is lower but seriously at $18…you're probably good to buy a few to compensate for the genuine one.

In the long run it (more than likely) won't be worth it. Have you ever seen a printer that's been killed by aftermarket toner dumping itself through the machine? I see it all the time - not a good way to save money at all.

      • Aftermarket high yield toner. I have already tested both genuine and aftermarket toners. As far as I can tell, there is no visible difference between the two when printing at 600 dpi with 'toner save' disabled.

        • Please link us to the $18 toner!

I've been getting refill kits, but they get so messy :(

Use the code WELCOME5 to get another $5 off!

  • Has anyone got a link for cheap cartridges? This is an awesome printer BTW. It replaced a workgroup HP 2100TN, and for the price, is a great win especially with the duplexing.

I've been buying generic ink from protoner.com.au at $15 each with $9 flat delivery fee. I tend to buy in bulk so it works out to be $18ea if you buy 3 at a time. I think you can arrange to pick up from their warehouse if you live in Willoughby, NSW. This is the link to the toner: http://protoner.com.au/prod2969.htm (Note: these are the high-yield toners - 2600 pages)

      Hope that helps.

If anyone knows of cheaper toners, it would be much appreciated.

      Thanks

Edit: corrected spelling and added more detail on the toners

    something something $9

  • So I'm guessing this would be a good buy for my girlfriend who has to print out a fair bit for her uni? How many pages (roughly) do the cartridges get? (We're about to move in together, this might make a nice surprise for her as we're setting up a room as an office)

    • The duplex bit will 100% come in helpful for uni! I used to print a heap of notes. I think the yield is 700-1000 pages or toner? Not entirely sure. But at $18 or so each rest assured the bulk of the cost will be paper.

Now that I've started full time work tough buying this would just be greedy. No real need/use for it..haven't missed having a printer at all.

    • the LAN and WIFI features really do make this look good. Whats the deal with the drum though? Anyone know how long that lasts?

EDIT: Google/Ebay to the rescue. Non-genuine (who cares) are about $35-$40 on ebay and are good for 12,000 pages.

      • Non-genuine toners can kill the drum, and neither non-genuine toners or drums are guaranteed. That 12,000 page yield will be for a Genuine drum - if you but a Genuine drum and it doesn't make that yield, there's a very high chance the supplier will replace it for you (Brother are very good with this, as long as you're using genuine Brother supplies).

If you buy a cheap, non-genuine drum and it only works for 50 pages, you're not going to get your money back from anyone.

  • Old printer but still solid. My wife used it for all her printing during her degree and PhD.

+1 for the printer, I have one. You can put it into override mode, so using 3rd party toners is relatively easy and lots cheaper.

It's fast, even in duplex (double sided) mode. Quality is good for a laser printer. Very economic with correct settings (useful for printing thesis/PHD draft versions etc.)

Wireless setup is surprisingly easy too.

  • Thanks again gang - new printer was needed but we weren't looking yet. This hits the spot and, at this price, saves me doing any research. It'll do! Seems like a good buy at under $92. Strange that the equally specced but non-wireless model is $40 more expensive in the sale…

Please get it before Mr Gerry change his mind….

Got one of these a while back for $150. A good printer overall but very poor for graphics. Still, I'm happy with it.

I got one of these last month at OW for $119, very happy with it.
MSY list the high yield toner (TN-2250) for $25. I'm yet to get one as it's currently listed as out of stock in SA.

    • Is it genuine toner?

*EDIT - Listed as "OEM Toner" *

  • I've had one of these for several months.
All features and operation are good, excep I get excessive 'paper- curl'.

  • This if you missed out http://www.printersupermarket.com.au/PrinterSupermarket/Brot…

Not sure about postage though… Ive been researching for a while and was about to buy, but missed this deal doh!

    • There's a seller on ebay that's selling these for $109 pickup at Croydon, VIC for anyone close to there that has missed out.

    • Sub Total
      $95.40

      Tax
      $9.54

      Postage & Handling
      $47.00

      Total
      $151.94

It would be cheaper to pay full price at HN.

  • Ordered this online Sunday night - got the order number, but no email has been received as yet. What gives Harvey ?

  • anyone get their email yet?

    • Haven't got the order confirmation from HN yet either - only the payment notification from Paypal…
