  • How does this compare to the Netgear xavb1004 Powerline Internet Adapter Kit?

    • The main difference is going to be that you have wifi as well with this bundle. The netgear is hardwired only.

    .

  • Touro sold out? Is this the same one you've had on special for $78/$79 previously?

    Cheers

  • will 1080p stream stutter free over 200mbps powerline adapters? (assuming average household wiring)

    • 50Mbps is max for blu-ray so it should be more than enough. Now if you hook up 4 TV's and try to stream from one NAS through this pipe you will have issues.

    • That being said, the quality of your power lines can affect signal quality. For instance, in my house my 200mbps powerline kit barely bumps 40mbps but my neighbour gets 130mbps with the exact same kit.

Would rather pay $20-30 more and get the Netgear XAVB5101 which is a 500Mb device and the best in testing and it still only has a throughput of 117.3Mb

I find it hard to believe this EOPL would be good for multiple users or for people on cable. I'd just be hessitant on this one unless you had simple plans, like link to one TV or something similar.

    • I have the XAVB5501 which is similar but has a power socket on the front so you don't lose an outlet:

      http://www.ht.com.au/part/Z4576-NETGEAR-Powerline-AV-500-Ada…

What do you mean still only has a throughput of 117.3Mbs? That's about 50% higher than good N600 routers and about twice as high as N300 routers (comparing real word performance of course, eg. http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/netgear-n600-wireless-dual/4…). And you don't have the same problems with interference, drop-outs, etc.

      • I have interference in my house, always on red light, slow as connection, sent back.

        • Fair enough. Could be your wiring or defective unit. Mine hasn't missed a beat in 6 months.

      • I mean only 117.3 in terms of its the best EoP available and it's stated as 500Mb. This is stated as 200Mb, so likely real world would not utilize a full cable connection.

    • Real world performance is especially relevant to someone considering these to suit their needs. Theoretical maximum ratings (PMPO anyone?) like the above, 200Mbps, often fall far short of actual performance.

  • confused over 19 (router) + 98 dollars (HDD)

what is the 88 on the topic price?

    • As far as I can tell they are both $98. The pack with two powerline adapters and a router shows as $98 in the dropdown box. The hard drive shows as $98 also. $88 will be a typo or a wrong price on the product page I think.

      • The two-pack of powerline adapters (with no router) is $88 so that is possibly where the confusion lies.

I found the format of original post also quite confusing, with the first paragraph saying 'We have 2 deals today…' and then proceeding to list a single deal with a heap of details, and not listing the second deal until a couple paragraphs later on - but maybe I'm just easily confused :)

Apologies the wrong product was linked I fixed the link but not the price slaps forehead

  • Will they work with the DHP-306AV and if they don't would it be faster?

    • They will work with the 306av.

  • I've got an older model dlink EoP adaptor, it works quite good. Like everyone said it depends on your wiring (different circuits) but in the same room as the router (5m away), it was 30-50% faster then wireless N. In the garage, it was just no comparison.

  • i think you can do better on the portable drive :)
after so many hours only 1 +ve

    • +1

Unfortunately we can't do better than $88 shipped. Keep in mind this is $10 more expensive than a deal for a much slower drive which got like 40+ve votes. Sometimes OZB is just random…

  • Keep the excellent deals coming Flingshot.com.au. Keep up the good work guys. I recently bought and picked up Samsung 10.1" Android Galaxy Tablet(Silver) and 4 Sticks of DDR3 SODIMM for notebooks. I love that you have got free shipping all over Australia on all items and your prices are very competitive.

And he wasnt paid for making this advertisement…much
Does anyone want a $5 voucher for this company? i wont be using it!

      • Sure, I'll have it. Cheap prices, fast shipping, no bullsh*t. They're doing a great job as far as I'm concerned.

      • Mate, I second saty1926 in terms of free shipping, customer service and competitive pricing. Yes they may not be crazy cheap (because people actually need to earn money to survive) but their prices are definitely competitive… on top of that, if you find a better deal elsewhere, at least the rep is on OzB REGULARLY and takes on the comments…I've seen prices changed because of OzB comments.

All I can say is…I would not hesitate to buy from flingshot

In saying that tough…nothing overly special with this post…you've done much better in the past! :)

        • We were thinking of doing a deal on the router pickup only at a very aggressive price. We have never tried that before and it kind of conflicts with our free shipping policy, but if people were interested it is something we could look at.

          Thanks for the feedback BTW.

        • How about a deal on EoP?

        • +1

Yeah we could do it for the EOP as well.
