Hi, for the hard drives, I think they are portable. Edit your title, otherwise nobody will be interested.

    • thanks

  • Do you guys supply tax invoice? Thanx

    • ofcourse

I see you removed the having to contact manufacturer for warranty purposes after 14 days, but not the paying for shipping for a DOA product.

No ABN or any warranty info?

Best to avoid these stores. They send you a faulty product, which is not what you ordered, and expect you to pay extra just to get one that works…

    • I read there is 3 years warranty with them. I don't think it would cover physical damage however… Don't think anyone offers warranty for physical damage for hard drives.

  • Isn't this just:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/39225
    all over again?

    • games has nothing to do with an outdated dvd deal

  • I just thought id pitch in. Ive purchased from these guys a few
times and I have to say I was surprised with their service. The guy called me up because i ordered 4 WD 1tb hdds and thought i had made a mistake. I went to his warehouse to pick up and picked up a few games as well. Nice bloke, very casual. Had no issues with any of his products. It's good to see the little guys trying to compete against the big guys.

  • Well if you stated an A.B.N. I'd feel more secure.

What is your registered Business Address anyway?

8-18 Leakes Rd, Laverton VIC 3028 seems to be some sort of weekend market?

  • -4

If you look carefully it clearly states both addresses

    MarketDeals Warehouse Distribution
    29/189B South Centre Rd
    Tullamarine VIC 3043
    Monday - Friday (By Appointment)

    MarketDeals Retail
    8-18 Leakes Rd
    Laverton VIC 3028
    Saturday (7.30AM - 3.30PM)
    Sunday (8.00AM - 3.30PM)

    TEL: 1300 86 88 86
    Monday - Friday : 9AM - 8PM
    Saturday & Sunday : 9AM - 6PM

Thus we have a retail location at a Weekend Market

    • Obviously I read the addresses.

Wouldn't it be clearer to potential purchasers to state that your weekend presence is actually at Laverton Markets.

You still haven't stated your A.B.N. and it isn't on your website.

No ABN listed after 2 years?

  • +2

    any gst paid?

    • -2

      gst included and paid

      • and your abn?

        • +1

No point asking lol, he doesn't reply to abn questions.

Has anyone who has visited the site got reports from their security software of malware/virus? All previous deals by this "retailer" have had this issue.

  • +1

you are a liar and scammer.

    http://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbnHistory.aspx?SearchTex…

you are not registered for gst so your statement that it is included and paid is crap.

    • you are a liar and scammer.

From your link it would appear that he de-registers and then re-registers as a Sole Trader - perhaps to avoid GST registration?

Also, it appears that he has no right to have registered the MarketDeals.com.au domain.

  • I ordered a hard drive last Fri 1 May. Did not receive any confirmation & no sign of the hard drive as yet even though I'm also in Melbourne.

They take days to respond to emails and said they have posted it. One part of the site lists my order as pending and order date as being in 1999. Another part lists my order as delivered and the order being made in 2036.

This does not seem like a very professional operation & I will be surprised if the hard drive does actually show up.

I would suggest people hold off from ordering anything until an ABN is provided, the website is fixed & people report back they they have actually received orders.

The site was registered using ABN: 61 848 260 174 - However, that ABN is for a Sole Trader with only Perfume Paradise as a Trading Name.

  • This seller is very rude, unprofessional and dodgy. He regularly posts ads on Gumtree as well - that's where I found the offer for this WD disk.

After a bit of research (the (in)famous address in Tullamarine), I can 100% confirm that we are talking about the same person (Tony, who's also the registrar of the domain name marketdeals.com.au).

I've contacted him via mobile after reading the Gumtree ad for the 2tb model, advertised at $140 if I'm not mistaken.

When I asked if he had any 1tb disks available, and how much would that be, he replied "120"; so I pointed out that the 2tb version was 140, and he went ranting about the 1tb disk being "a completely different disk", and in the end "you can have it for 100". When asked if he would be available for collection the day after, he said "no, we're closed", although in the Gumtree ad he mentions "open every day".

At that point I dropped it.

The following day (yesterday) I bumped into another Gumtree ad for the 1tb disk advertised at $70. The ad was originally posted sometimes in February, but it had just been edited and was on the top of the search results. He probably edited the price. Called him back, I wanted to give it another try. Reminded him we spoke over the phone just the day before, and I was now happy to arrange a meeting for the 1tb WD disk at 70 dollars. We agreed to meet at the warehouse before 5pm, because "we close at 5" and "tomorrow morning we are not available" (again: in the ad they are open every day and the hours are 9am-8pm).

We drove almost 2hrs in the rush hour traffic to reach the warehouse. Arrived in the area at about 4.45. Called him because the office suite he mentions in his address is hard to find. No answer. Second call, no answer. Keep driving around, can't find the warehouse. Lots of traffic. He calls back at 5.10 saying "sorry, we just left; i couldn't pick up the phone earlier". At which I replied "can we meet anyway, we drove 2 hours for this"; "no, if you want the disk you need to come back another day"; "not really nice doing business with you", i replied. "NOT MY PROBLEM, if you want the disk, come another day, otherwise goodbye". here's what i've got. WASTE OF TIME! waste of energy. waste of fuel. waste of time off. AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE.

    • We drove almost 2hrs in the rush hour traffic

The time and driving through that traffic would alone make the deal not worth it.

      • it was a 45 minutes drive (according to google maps) that turned out to be a nightmare due to traffic… i guess it was worth it in normal conditions. plus, we're on a budget so saving 60-70 on any retail price is still worth for us.
