Paraphrased from this forum post with a couple of my own additions:

Get SimCity Limited Edition for AU$26.96 (if using a 28 Degrees Mastercard or other zero currency conversion fee card) from Origin direct (well their Indian online store anyway).

This should be the cheapest available price around (see forum discussion for comparison).

Instructions:

  1. If you have an existing Origin account, go to https://www.origin.com/au/account#about-me and change your country of residence to India. Now close and reopen your browser.

  2. Click through to: the Indian Origin Store and find SimCity Limited Edition.
    It should show the price in Rupees (1499 of them). If not, you've done something wrong. Add it to your cart and proceed to checkout.

  3. Enter all your details as per usual, except have the country set as India (should only show countries from that region anyway).

  4. ???

  5. Profit!

Order confirmation email took about 20 minutes to come through but the game appears in my Origin account instantly.

      Takes some time depending on ur PC etc, normally means its downloading or extracting the downloads

    Anyone got the issue where the exe seems to load but can't see anything else, not even the download speed?
    I seem to have a simcity.exe 180-200kb file running and not much else.

    I regret purchasing now…. 27 bucks not worth waiting around for damn servers. I hope people find a workaround/hack for this online connection.
    I mean at least StarCraft 2 had an offline mode.

      If you read the comments before, people were discussing due to the rampant piracy on the streets (literally streets), publishers often try to drop prices to get people to buy the legit copies.

    Game is 3GB download btw, no idea why Origin says 12GB.

    You download 300MB from Origin, then 2.9GB in the SimCity launcher.

      Perhaps it extracts to 12GB? Although that would be pretty good compression… If its 3GB though I can buy it off Origin (If it was 12GB, I'd buy a physical copy, so I get the 4 DVDs).

    Oceanic 1 server is full so I got on oceanic 2 and it is telling me to wait 20 minutes. It is 12:30 midnight. :(

      you'll probably find that you'll play more of SIM CITY 4 for the time being with the server / wait times issues.

      I find it appalling excuse when they have all these copies out with only a small beta test. It's a popular franchise!
      This "free" game (probably fifa 08) is just goosing new buyers.

      Great price but to stay connected to play what is essentially a single player game with some interactions with other players online? Server side calculations, yeah right…

      Online parts seem interesting but give me a giant mega city sandbox offline.

    Just an update… The game took ages to download, but when it finally did, at 12am midnight I got into Oceania server 2 at first connect. So had my first run in sim city 5 last night… Not bad! I like it… Lets just hope more servers will be up soon. Mind you we're getting 2 games for 1 with this price :))

    I know this sounds weird, but after reading the game was 12gb I went ahead and bought it thinking there must be a lot of content in this game and was quite disappointed to find out I only downloaded 3.8gb of Data. Lol, feel ripped off now.

    I thought wow, 12gb who cares about DRM if a new release $28 game has that much content.
    I totally wouldn't have bought this for a lousy 4gb of data.
    I feel like I'm going to be all alone thinking about it this way, anyone else feel ripped off because of this?

        Simcity wouldn't have much "game content" to speak of. It's a simulation game whose only replayability and entertainment value lies in its simulation / sandbox concept.
        For example Minecraft costs 20 euros to purchase and download, yet it's final installation size is something less than 15 megabytes.

    So wanting this new SimCity, but the whole DRM thing is really putting me off. Why the f**k should I wait to play an essentially "offline/single player" game through a server? I know it saves your city info to their server, but seriously.. Awesome deal OP. Will think about it a little more though!

    Wow I am seriously disappointed with this game, just when you think EA couldn't get any worse… I forgave them after they destroyed the C&C series but only because of BF1942 and the subsequent BF games only to be let down with BF3 and their cash grabbing DLC's and then this happens FU EA… FU
