It's stupid that you have to use its native player for media files. It only allows ios/itunes compatible movie files. I believe that means no avi, mkv etc. flatingtrapeze, can you confirm?

Well for normal user, maybe it is limited. but since 500GB was released, a lot of ppl already make it used worked as NAS. search Seagate Satellite, you can find heaps of information regarding this unit to be used as a NORMAL NAS drive not limited to any application or format.
