Dr Oetker Frozen Pizza, $2.99 at NQR

140

Haven't bought frozen pizza for years but for three bucks I thought I'd give one of these a try.

Verdict: Tastiest veggie pizza I've had. I'll be back tomorrow for half a dozen or so for when I don't feel like cooking :)

  • All i can say is STAY AWAY FROM THE SPINACH PIZZA!

    They are nasty

    • +9

      I liked it.Its my favorite:)

      • Same!

      • My favourite too - and healthier compared to competing offerings in the supermarket. More for the rest of us! Haven't seen this vegetable version in the big two supermarkets.

        • Pizza and healthy does not go together.

    • If they're vegetarian there's a slightly lower chance of having horsemeat in there.

        they might have horseradish though…

        • Oh good, better than cowradish or pigradish then.

    • nasty as in
      "the next day nasty"
      or
      nasty disgusting.

    • +1

Nasty as in very salty. In fact the vegie is the only one I can stand.

      • They are pretty salty. But I do like the spinach one once in a while.

These weird Dr Whatever pizzas are NQR well and truly before they make it to NQR.

    • I don't think he's a real doctor…

Dr Oetker is the best frozen pizza I have ever tried. Very close to fast food Pizza. BTW what is NQR any in Sydney?

    • Tastes salty, chemically processed and with a weird crust to me.

    • +1

Dr Oetker was my first venture into frozen pizza. It was acceptable. I then tried McCain's and that has put me off frozen pizzas for the meantime.

If I had to recommend anything, then Dr Oetker's get my vote.

    • Looks like it's only VIC. Wish they would open stores here and inject some competition.

Wonder what NQR stands for. I hope not Not Quite Right. First thing that came to mind. :)

      • Yep that's exactly what it means :)

      • Was Not Quite Right. I think with the management change it became Not Quite Retail (as in cheaper than retail prices).

    Not quite right

    • Any recommendation ?

      • I recommend eating real pizza in Italy, some time in your life…

        • Come on you are comparing a $3 one with $$$$$ one.

We are talking about frozen pizza here but I don't eat them often anyway.

        • Come on you are comparing a $3 one with $$$$$ one.

actually a marinara pizza at 'Da Michele' in Naples doesn't cost much more than $3 and is the best pizza Ive ever had in my life….. too bad they don't deliver ;)

        • SBOB is a Pizza SNOB?! :)

        • I'm sure you can arrange delivery somehow, but by the time you get it, it will be just as tasty as Dr. O pizzas reheated. And cost more. :P

        • @SBOB Can I get that with a dose of pretentious?

  • +2

I love the Dr Oetker ristorante Ffunghi (mushroom) pizza. Om nom

  • i like their mushroom and vege ones. wish they didn't have so much water/juice since I like mine a bit drier. Just personal taste though.
Emilies is also a good frozen one to try. I think their crust is nicer, but you have to time it right to get that crispy yet chewy texture which is super yum

    • somehow I don't think its water or juice. More likely its oil.

      • no, it actually is water. its from the mushrooms. the other pizzas don't have them
(and I can tell the diff from oil and water you would hope)

  • Sadly, I have never found rising crust pizzas in AUS…, weird !

    • try the "When in Rome" pizzas. They rise a lot! They come out as a yummy pizza bread since they rise so much and get so fluffy :D

  • I like the Dr. Oetker Pizza's mainly the Mozzarella and Spinach. They are around 1000KJ/100gms so a lower than most frozen Pizza's.

Often on sale for $4-5 at Coles, so $2.99 is good.

  • These are $3.99 at my local NQR….. DISSAPPOINTED!

  • Do NQR and Reject Shop sell factory seconds and literal rejects, or are they normal stock?

    • +1

NQR sells discontinued/deleted lines, lines the big supermarkets don't want to sell and excess stock left over, some lines close to use by date, etc. I've never seen rejects or seconds.

Reject Shop sell cheap and parallel imports (mainly non food) never rejects (silly choice in name).
