As Ainol's first 9.7" tablet, Ainol Novo 9 Spark attracts huge attention in android tablet market. Ainol Novo 9 Spark has quad-core CPU, 2G RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, dual cameras and amazing retina IPS display. Ainol is always focus on 7 inch android tablets and has produced a few hot 7 inch tablets. Now Ainol expands its product line to 9.7 inch and 10.1 inch. Will Ainol keep its good quality on 9.7 inch tablet?

Allwinner A31 Quad-Core CPU
Ainol Novo 9 Spark adopts Allwinner A31 quad-core CPU, which is the latest innovation of Allwinner Technology. Allwinner A31 is based on Cortex-A7 quad-core and is equipped with GPU SGX544MP2 which has 8 logic core. A31 can decode 4Kx2K resolution video. What is 4Kx2K resolution? 4Kx2K is an extreme high resolution that is generally only used when making a film. You may enjoy cinema experience when you watch video on Ainol Novo 9 Spark. Allwinner A31 also supports 2048x1536 display and Android 4.2 OS.

Retina IPS Display
Retina display is widely used on Apple's products. Now Ainol Novo 9 Spark uses 2548x1536(4:3) resolution retina IPS display. 2548x1536(4:3) resolution may above your expectation if you feel 1280x800 is good enough. I watched a few 4K videos on Ainol Novo 9 Spark and amazed by the top display effect. Ainol Novo 9 Spark is your best choice if you always watch video on your tablet.

10000mAh Battery
Isn't it annoying that the tablet shutdown automatically due to low battery when you are playing games or watch a hot TV series. You will never have such issue after you buy Ainol Novo 9 Spark. Built-in 10000mAh battery plus AXP221 smart battery management chip ensures the best ever battery. Smart battery management chip helps you manage battery dynamically. Though Ainol Novo 9 Spark has a retina display, you don't need to worry battery issue at all. Feel free to play Temple Run on Ainol Novo 9 Spark!

2G RAM & Android 4.1 OS
Ainol Novo 9 Spark runs faster than ordinary 9.7 inch with 2G RAM. Android 4.1 OS is smoother and faster than Android 4.0. Ainol Novo 9 Spark also has dual cameras.

  • Never had an Android device before and looking for something around this price as an entry point.

Are the Ainol tablets any good? Particularly if a kid gets their hands on it?

And do they provide timely updates for new versions of Android?

I wouldn't count on them giving you Key Lime Pie, but you can always check XDA forums or Slatedroid for ROMS, firmware and such.

      • Thanks for the response. This looks like the main stumbling point for me going to Android. I can get cheaper units with better specs but updates seem pretty complex.

I'm really happy with my Ainol Fire 7". Note that all of the below is based on it, I'm just commenting on how much I enjoy Ainol in general. I've never touched the product above.

You'd probably need a case if younger kids are getting their hands on it. The build quality is surprisingly good, but you definitely don't want to drop it. I did once and there's a pretty significant gouge from the back.

RE: firmware, there's some developer on the non english Ainol forums who makes updates. He's somehow associated with Ainol but doesn't actually work with them. My Fire is on Android 4.2 and everything works well. Needed some google translate action though. Otherwise you've got the XDA forums. Either way flashing roms from these sites can be kind of frustrating unless you've done it a couple times.

they named one of their products Ainol Fire!?

hot damn, no chilli peppers for me tonight…

  • +1

Been a while since we had some ainol pleasure

    • -5

      thats what your mum said

  • Seems like that is the regular price?

Time for me to get a little ainol: You need to add an additional 99 cents for a power plug, making it 220.98.

    • +3

so you need another ainol plug?

    • Useless if they don't send a power supply. They didn't with my Crystal. And wont.
      Got the plug though!

  • Seems like a good deal given the price and the specs though potential buyers should take claim of a 10000mAh battery with a grain of salt. I'm not sure I've heard of any other mainstream tabs with a 10000mAh battery. The closest I am aware of is the Nexus 10 which comes with a 9000mAh battery.

  • finally big ainol is out and it seems good.

    • +6

Will it tear the tablet market a new one?

  • If shipping is included, it'll be a good deal.

      comes in a rubber sleeve

  • +1

have they resolved the wireless issue with this unit?

  • All jokes aside, the 7" ainol novo 16gb is running very well. Though I did update to jelly bean 4.2 via a forum link as there was no official over the air upgrade. Best of the generic tablets.

  • +1

not a bad deal. to be honest though, you can't look past the Nexus 7. Better off getting one of those if you can find a good deal between $210-250. :)

    • I have both performance wise they are neck and neck, but my ainol has a sd slot & 64gb card and hdmi out, my nexus has more stable wifi & GPS.

      • -1

it cant be neck and neck if youve done a proper comparison. this has 2gb ram while the nexus 7 has only 1gb

    • +1

Yeah, but at this price, we'll be back to arguments over sd card slots and such.

It's really entirely dependent on your needs.

  • +1

seems like AllWinner chip still not as stable as AMLogic :(

  • Good seeing the generic maker introducing spark to the powerhouse table. Reliability 802.11 does present some premature problems however. I would cautiously watch for combo .11, bt, gps in upcoming 10 edition, presupposing these would be ironed out properly before RTM, or else no dice.

    No GPS NO Bluetooth???

Got a Crystal 7, forced to but a power adapter. Item shipped without power supply. Customer service totally ignored requests for explaination. Said they don't send them (though in documentation) and did nothing except point to buying one from their site.

Buy from Ainol or China??? Hope you get what you need.

  • +1

I want to get this but the posts in the store forum and the manufacturers forum are very worrying. People have complained about the Novo 9 Spark firmware updates, the device is slow, the device freezes and the wifi range is terrible. Has anyone got one of these already?

    • Same here - i am holding back because of the lack of confirmation with regards to the wifi problem.

  • Sorry not into Ainol, it's not my thing.
    Prefer Nexus 7 anyday

    • Well my current tab is named a "haipad", and so analysing bw my two I might say safely novo 9 / 10 looks to be far advanced, whilst leaving aside a·nal which makes not even a Brand.

  • Hello OP, does this come with free shipping? on the website, it says Free Shipping, but at the checkout, there is a delivery charge added.
