This is mainly for photographers interested in investing on Profoto gears.

Due to export regulations and/or manufacturers restrictions, Profoto gears are usually restricted from being shipped to Australia from the US.

In Sydney, I think the only distributor is L&P photographic and you have to pay $3652 inc. GST for this kit.

However, just found out that Amazon.com can ship several Profoto D1 kits to Australia at a very reasonable delivery rate (15kg delivered to my doorstep for under $100 from the US? Bargain!).

Purchased this particular kit for USD2514.35 incl GST and Delivery. Profoto accepts Dual voltage; 200-240 volts AC, 50 Hz or 90-130 volts AC, 60 Hz. So far the kit is working well for me.

  • Well it is not really a deal, you will find easily that camera / strobes selling from overseas are way cheaper than Australia, which is normal.

    • I personally use Profoto gear for my profession, almost every online store in America gave me this message when try to check out and get something shipped to Australia, eg from bhphotovideo:

"Country: Australian Customs & Border Protection Advisory
Due to export regulations and/or manufacturers restrictions, we are unable to accept orders with a shipping address in AUSTRALIA for the following item(s):
      Profoto D1 Air 500 W/S 2 Monolight Studio Kit"

I just checked Adorama as well and they can ship the same kit to Australia too, but the shipping is USD$350, over USD$250 dearer than Amazon.

so to find out i can get 15kg of Profoto gear shipped from America and get it shipped for under USD$100 (the postage for me is a deal right there), i think that's a definitely a good find for photographers who have heavily invested on Profoto gear.
