  I got this deal last year:

  Had to put an SSD drive in it just to make it barely usable for performing basic tasks such as surfing the net and opening PDF files. Not really happy with the purchase.

      very different laptop though

      this a Intel Ivy based unit and that is an AMD Brazos

      the Intel would have no problems doing most common tasks

        Exactly. I'm sure this laptop would be more than adequate for internet browsing and pdf files.

        I would be cautious of making such assumptions unless you have had first hand experience with it.

        Also, "more than adequate" can mean different things to different people. I can use my laptop for browsing the web too but it's nothing like my i3 desktop.

        I would be staying away from these so called "dual core" laptops personally unless they can be bought for a song, like less than $200.

    It has a passmark score of 1467 which runs rings round any atom processor, but can't compete with any i3. It seems to be equivalent to a solid, but not exceptional, Core2Duo. So the performance should be fine for basic tasks, but still very poor for a modern processor.
