Hey guys,
I just bought a Sony NEX System and have been looking around for lenses. This seems like the one that everyone recommends as a first one.

I managed to pick up a second hand one from ebay for a little cheaper, but this is a great price for Aussie stock, and if you're not interested in the B&H Photo Bundle because you don't really need the 19mm, and it doesn't have as good reviews.

MFT lens available too

Price elsewhere: $189.00 Shipped from B&H Photo
$272.00 pickup from teds.

I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere, so hope this helps someone looking for the individual lens.

They also have the 19mm lens for the same price too. MFT Link

  • Good price. Is it Melbourne only? I know they just opened a store there so I'm wondering if it's an opening special or if I could go to the Sydney shop and get it.

    • No, it shouldn't be melbourne only, it's been this price for a while. I had originally thought they only had a melbourne store. My bad. Will change the title.

Ahh good to hear, it's really tempting but I'm broke and shouldn't be buying stuff. Which begs the question, what am I doing checking out OzBargain to begin with? :p

  • 19/2.8 +30/2.8 for USD200 + shipping from BH.

    • Already mentioned this in the post.

    • Yep, mentioned by the OP. If I was after the 19mm I'd go for that bundle but if I just wanted the 30mm, I'd go to the CBD store and get one. At least I don't have to wait, I don't have to waste time selling the 19mm and I have local warranty.

      • if we are talking about bargain, it is worth getting the bundle and then sells the 19mm if you dont want it. you dont waste much time at all.

if waiting time is that important to you,you should've got one as soon as the lens becomes available on the market. how long have you waited for a good price?

$150 for this lens is certainly a good price though.

        • You'll probably get around $100-110 for the 2nd hand lens, so you're essentially getting the 30mm for around $120ish. A better deal, yes, but not everyone wants to go to that trouble.
I managed to pick up the lens on ebay for $112 posted, so you could always try your luck with an auction too.

        • +1

Plus I'm happy to spend a little extra to get it from an actual shop. If something goes wrong, I just go to the shop. I'm 10 mins away from their shop.

And I have this problem where I buy a lens with the intention of selling it but I end up liking it and keeping it :p

  • Nice dirty thirty!

  • Why on earth they are still offering this?

    "Is Extended Warranty available?
Absolutely; select desired warranty before adding product to your shopping cart. United Customer
Care Program provides the solution for total Customer care and piece of mind."

While United has gone busted last year?
And they still let you add it to your shopping cart?

    What's going on?

    • I have no knowledge of this, but I do find it amusing that you click the United Customer Care Program link and it sends you here. I guess their idea of an extended warranty is a pelican case… lol
