  • Nevermind.

  • I got one thank you ShoppingExpress. Was thinking to get just other day good such a good coincidence.I am updating my old N40L by the way it supports non ecc rams and maximum memory is not 8GB i have 16GB ram install working fine with no problems.

    • thanks for supporting :)

  • Damn, went to buy an N54L with 8Gb RAM and the Trend Micro deal but the $55 didn't apply. Then I remembered that 26/3 has already ended in the southern states.

Never mind …… one day :)

    • And now when I read the cart summary properly I see that the deal hasn't expired just yet. So now I bought one. Perhaps it doesn't expire until Perth's midnight really?

      • deal extended till Noon AEDT 28-3-13

  • Got one on previous deal. ShoppingExpress seems to ignore warranty issues:
    Order #N0096531
Email to [email protected], 05 Mar - no answer
Web: Ticket ID: 17253, 22 Mar - no answer

    • Have you tried calling them in business hours?

    • +1

I have passed your ticket to our support team and you should get a reply very soon. For future references, if you did not receive any reply from us after 24 hours, you should consider calling us at 02-83388899 to check with us, in case your email has been accidently left unread.

Thanks for your patience with us, it was quite a lengthy period of waiting time on your end.

      Kind Regards

    1. Purchases must be made at authorised Trend Micro resellers including but not limited to: Dick Smith, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Joyce Mayne, Domayne, JB Hi Fi, Bing Lee, Radio Rentals and Leading Edge Computers. Purchases made at Officeworks are ineligible.
    • That's already been covered on the first page.

I personally don't get the big deal deal about these Micro servers, they're not that good value.

You can build a MUCH better ITX based system for about $30 more, no need for extra video cards for HD playback either. For a media server your much better off. NAS… yeah i can understand the microserver option.

    Kingmax 4G PC-10600 1333MHZ DDR3 Single Stick $32.00
    Asrock H61M-ITX MB, Intel H61, LGA 1155, 2x DDR3, HDMI, $76.00
    Antec VP-350P 350W Strictly PSU $43.00
Cooler Master RC-120A Mini ITX no PSU $54.00
    Intel PENTIUM G2120/3.10GHz/3MB CACHE/LGA1155 $75.00

    Total $279

agree… and even if the power consumption is bigger, who cares you will only save $5/year

    • thanks for the build
      My feelings are similiar.

I am seeing ppl get usb 3 card and gpu with the microserver
which pushes the price close 300 dollars.

But with a custom build I get more freedom.
Don't need to hack bios to get more sata ports..
      the psu is more powerful
don't need to get ecc ram..
      get usb 3.0

btw what is this cpu compared to the microserver performance?

    • Also a cheaper case/psu option for the above build…

      Thermaltake Element Q Mini Case w/ 200W SFX PSU - $78 … saving $19.
      Holds 2 x 3.5" drives + 5.25" full size optical drive.

      The RC-120A,
      Holds 3 x 3.5" drives + 5.25" full size optical drive.

just bought 1 and cancelled my Buffalo NAS i ordered from HT

  • Purchased N54L + WD Red 2TB + Radeon 6450. I don't even really have a use for it yet but I'm sure I can find something. Probably going to plug it into my TV and replace my WDTV Live, and use it for backups / NAS / downloading stuff :P

Any suggestions on what to run to use it as a HTPC? I remember hearing about MythTV a few years ago, is it still around?

    • +1

if you want to use it to record tv off a tv tuner card, go with myth TV.

if you want to use it to just download, store and play media files, go with XBMC. XBMC can run over the top of windows or ubuntu, there's even a specific pre-compiled version of ubuntu with XBMC built in http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMCbuntu . Ubuntu and XBMC are legitimately free. It's what I'll be installing on mine. You can even get an XBMC remote control app for your android phone (not sure about iphone) so that you won't need to buy an infra red receiver to control it with a normal remote.

      • I won't be recording off TV at all, I'll just be downloading (and watching YouTube and maybe Netflix). Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look at XBMC. :)

  • How long does it take Shopping Express to respond to tickets? I submitted one yesterday, and still no updates.

    • We respond to tickets within 24 hour during weekdays. If you have a query that needed faster response than 24 hours, you can contact us at 02-83388899. Please bear in mind to use our phone contact for urgent issues, as it may slow down our email response time if we have significantly increased in calls. Thanks for understanding.

Mine arrived at a post office today. Australia Post decided to drop it off not at my local post office (which is within walking distance), but at a post office on the other side of the suburb. I don't drive so I'll pick it up Saturday when I can get a lift :P
