7-11 Petrol Station, Premium Unleaded 95 for $1.359 at Fitzroy - Victoria

460

Hi all, went into my local 7-11 petrol station at:

Fitzroy 7-11
244 Nicholson St & Johnston St, Fitzroy, VIC, 3065

and found a sign on the pump stating that due to the Regular Unleaded having runout, the Premium Unleaded 95 is now at the price of regular (as they have runout) for $1.359

Hope it helps someone.

Cheers.

Edit: changed title from Carlton to Fitzroy :)

These days 1.35 is considered cheap. Last time I recall it was only 89 cents.

It was 89.9c as recently as April 2005. Not quite as long as 10 years ago.

    • well, last last time, I recalled, it was only 46 cents and you pay premium for unleaded.

and cars were much enjoyable to drive.

      see what I did there?

    • Yeah and our PM was Bob Hawk.

Thanks OP just filled up the tank on the way home from work, great deal. If anyone's planning on heading down it appears that this only applies to pumps 7+ (could be mistaken but only saw the signs on these bowsers, others appeared to have regular ULP in stock).

are you guys serious???? I can get it for $1.27 (with my 8c off Woolies credit).

Are you thinking of the usual 92 fuel?

      • +3

      Saudi Arabia?

      • +1

Would be E0 there since ethanol would be expensive to produce and the forms for human consumption also banned. They're no fun.

      • +1

        can they deliver?

Thanks OP, I filled up at 4 pm. All pumps have the notice now.

    • +1

No worries, is that all pumps as in all the Premium Unleaded 95 (bowsers) or 98 inclusive?

      • Only the 95

        • +1

Thanks Alvinmk, it seems that the tanker that delivers fuel is on an Easter break, hopefully the 95 runs out soon that way they can offer the 98 for this cheap price ;)

Yeah, so I'm gonna drive all the way out to Carlton to fill up with expensive fuel that makes bugger all difference in terms of economy or performance, rofl. For the exact same price I can get regular unleaded at my local servo.

Did you ever stop and think that this is only a deal if you are local?
Obviously if you need to use $20 worth of petrol to get cheaper petrol then your not thinking and contrary to your beliefs higher octane fuel is better for your cars economy in the same way that drinking a stronger alcohol will get your drunk faster.

      • Is higher octane fuel better for economy? I'll be honest I haven't done a lot of research on road vehicle performance based on octane rating (so if you can link me a study saying I'm wrong, I'll be happy to believe you), but octane rating isn't a rating of power, it's a rating of how hot the fuel can get and still do its job. High performance engines REQUIRE high octane fuel, or else detonation occurs (basically loss of power and engine damage) - I learned about this from studying aviation where most engines require 100octane fuel at minimum. I don't see how a higher resistance to detonation than necessary increases performance or economy though.

P.S. As far as your original point goes, I do agree it's a bargain for any locals. Why not get better fuel for the same price? Even if you don't need it

        • because you do not have to deal with ecus running rich or lean.

  • Almost 30c per litre cheaper than on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Pulp95 is $1.639 here…. and that's not the easter price, that's the every day price.

    • After applying 8 cents Woolies or Coles discount, 95 would be around $1.41 per litre for 95 in Melbourne.

      • You guys are crazy. I filled up on 98RON last night in Perth for $1.511 with no vouchers. Thought we had it bad here. Clearly I was wrong.
