    Good Review on TorrentFreak:

Response to Q1: “We absolutely do not maintain any VPN logs of any kind. We utilize shared IP addresses rather than dynamic or static IPs, so it is not possible to match a user to an external IP. These are some of the many solutions we have implemented to enable the strongest levels of anonymity amongst VPN services. Further, we would like to encourage our users to use an anonymous e-mail and pay with Bitcoins to ensure even higher levels of anonymity should it be required. Our core verticals are privacy, quality of service, and prompt customer support.”

Response to Q2: “Our company currently operates out of the United States with gigabit gateways in the US, Canada, UK, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. We chose the US, since it is one of the only countries without a mandatory data retention law. We will not share any information with third parties without a valid court order. With that said, it is impossible to match a user to any activity on our system since we utilize shared IPs and maintain absolutely no logs.”

Way cheaper than my current AirVPN, I'll probably switch when my subscription is over.
EC are you using them btw?? How's the Speed?

    • EC are you using them btw?? How's the Speed?

No, i have an free lifetime account with hideipvpn for US/UK/Netherlands

But im considering joining this mob as they have very good reviews

    • thanks

i was worried about traceability of my hacking antics into american servers, while pretending to be from china/north korea

    • I use them and they're service has been great, I get good speeds and barely notice the difference when it's on or off.

    • I have been using it for around 15 mins with the Windows client.

Was very easy to set up - takes around 2 minutes from deciding to buy it until the client is downloaded, installed, and connected.

I can only get plain ADSL 1 here, around 6Mbit top speed, so not the greatest, and any VPN will add an overhead.

I let it connect to the default/auto server which appears to be LA.

I will try to access the BBC website Dr Who videos restricted to the UK later on.

Browsing websites seems a little slower - especially getting the initial connection to the site. Same with checking email accounts.

The torrents I was downloading a few mins before I signed up were getting around 300-500 Kbit speeds. Now they are getting around 200-300 Kbit (but might speed up as time goes on).

I may just connect the VPN when downloading torrents, and leave it off for general web browsing.

What kind of speed are people getting from this service?

Hi, I have been with PIA for a month now, and found there speeds better than StrongVPN, which anyone in IT will know as being a good and reliable provider.

      PIA Server MAX Mbps
(ADSL2+ line speed in real life - 16)
California server (highly recommend) - 15
France server (best in Europe) - 14
Amsterdam server (now at 7pm AEST) - 10

During peak times the lowest I have seen in the last month is about 6Mbps.

Switching between servers is easy via Windows tray icon, and their Kill Switch and DNS Leak Protection (http://www.dnsleaktest.com/) work well. This is the only VPN provided I know of that has DNS Leak Protection. I have personally found PIA better than StrongVPN, HideMyAss, and IPVanish. Hope this all helps!

  • Awww and here I am having just signed up on the monthly plan last week for $6.95 like a chump.

    • how are the speeds to the various servers that you've connected to?

      • Honestly, I haven't used it enough yet to make a strong informed comment - I've only been using the california server so far (geographically it's the closest server in the US) for streaming NRL. That said, it's held up pretty well so far!

  • Sorry for my ignorance, but would this be better than using unblock-us for Netflix for an Apple TV, this works out cheaper than unblock-us

    • I've heard a lot of negative comments about Unblock-US' speed lately - and considering they primarily market themselves towards people who want to stream Netflix etc; I'm not at all surprised.

    • Unblock-Us provides a DNS service not a VPN. Using a VPN will slow your connection down more than a DNS service alone so you will need a decent connection to be able to stream without constant buffering.

I recently changed from Unblock to Unotelly and they are much better and provide a DNS + VPN option for the same price as Unblock-Us http://www.unotelly.com/unodns/pricing

If the deal listed above gave a DNS option I would be all over it at that price!!!

Is the client software open source?

If not, there is no way I would pay for the service when I could use SoftEther which is free and is run by the University of Tsukuba (Japan) and VPNGate to make the client more manageable.

VPNGate lists several dozen VPN servers all over the globe - all free. The logging policy depends on the VPN provider (and users can use their own machines as VPN relays if they wish).

SoftEther will be Open-source mid-year (the source has to be tidied up and comments converted to Engrish: as I understand it, the problem is not a lack of will to open-source, it's that the devs have had difficulty meeting the documentation requirements for GPL).

Never ever pay for closed-source 'secure' comms.

    • They have their own VPN client, but your also able to use OpenVPN config files and use any OpenVPN client of your choosing.

    • VPN Gate sounds great, but don't they have a logging policy of 2 weeks, unless that's meant to mean something else.

  • I've been with these guys since last year, reliable service and the customer service is stellar.

  • Several friends have been using this service for a while and they are very happy with the service.

  • I am looking at the site looking for FAQ that answers the following:

If I buy this service can I use it on 2 devices at the same time ?

For example can I configure my Android phone to use the VPN over 3G/4G - and also have my PC using the VPN via Windows client - without conflict or having to buy a second subscription ?

If I decide to configure my router to access the VPN so the whole household is "protected", and my Android phone is also set up for the VPN, will this cause any issues using the phone at home via the house wifi ?

    • Only took 1 minute for the LiveChat people to respond:

You can have up to three devices connected to our service at a time. The service can be installed on as many devices as you like, but only three will be able to connect at any given time.

  • Interesting. Not a bad price, especially for unlimited bandwidth.
Speed is not bad too. Thanks OP.

  • Ok so I assume at least a few of you signed up for this service. I'm still on the fence.

    My main worry is speed.

I get >85Mb/s on speedtest.net servers on my standard cable connection.

I went to the VPN's speedtest page and ran all of their US server speedtests.

The fastest result was only 4.5Mb/s and the slowest was 0.67Mb/s.

Is that what other people are seeing too?
