its a good deal if you cant be bothered waiting in the line @ MSY

    • MSY don't have any 16GB kits for under $100 atm.

  • Is it just me or are memory prices going up?

In November last year this was $65 on amazon. You could get the bigger memory for computers for $25 for 8gb http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/84287 . Today you would be looking at around 3 times that price.

    • Maybe repercussions of the floods still occurring?

No doubt prices will go down over time and as capacity and technology advances.

The deal I posted wasn't too long ago.

      • I'd said its all about $$$$$$$!!!!

damn wholesaler & stocker who bump up the price!!
I remember MSY selling 8GB (DDR1600) sodimm ram for $3x during christmas
        look at the price now…………

        • I got this for $71.99, it is now $112.99, and this for $37.47, now $75.00…
          Strange.

    • I purchased a 8GB stick of 12800 corsair last month 4 $54.95 from PC Meal it's now $79.95.

LOL, Mac Ram, hmmmm sounds like somebody who is still stuck in the early 2000's.
Either that or somebody who is just in denial about Mac's are still "Macs". They stopped using Mac Proprietary hardware in the early 2000's. Now all Macs are just Intel hardware like every other PC (except every other PC doesn't have a Mac Symbol on it).

The only difference Mac Hardware has compared to a 'normal' PC, is that it has an extra chip (very similar to a TPM chip) which OSX has to detect before it will install itself on to the PC, others on the web have disabled this feature in OSX and managed to installed it on a normal PC.

Back to the Mac Ram…. when it was still using proprietary hardware, Mac's were extremely fussy with what Ram it took in, hence why there is this concept of "mac ram" being spawned.

Now that everything is Intel, almost every single RAM module will work in your Mac computer. I've even tried el-cheapo strontium in my Mac and it still works perfectly.

    • love thy macintosh

  • Price of RAM is definitely going up at the moment. Paid $63 delivered on Dec last year.

  • Current Macs are 1600mhz, does that matter?

  • I notice SSD prices rise a bit too in Jan/Feb compare to prior Christmas, not sure about recently…..
