    • Cheaper at BL. No bargain

  • I've got this exact model. Dual Play, 200hz, Smart Apps, 1 HDD USB Port, 2 USB Ports, 4 HDMI, a truckload of Energy Saving settings, Plays Pure Blu-Ray .mkv's, etc.

Not a comment on the deal per se, but both my brother & I have had LG plasmas which have died. Mine, a $3000 unit died after 3 years.
Never again for me, but of course I understand other will have different experiences. ;-)

    • There will also be different experiences for those with LCD/LED models…different tech and all that. None of my friends with LG LCD/LED have had any dramas.

IMHO LG's early plasmas were not great; I had one die at ~4yrs…I got it fixed by LG under statutory warranty after speaking to FT, but as soon as I got it back I then sold it just in case!

    • You will find the reason for failure is more "plasma" than LG.
We just had a plasma replaced through failure (panasonic) that would not have done 50 hours.
We prefer to watch our very old LG LCD… much better picture and never fails.

    • Adding my 2 cents to the comments on here. We bought an LCD in 2009 after doing the math on average power consumption between LCD and Plasma panels. We ended up buying an LG. I understand it more a case of "to each, their own" thing but the LG LCD I have in the lounge works like a charm and played media from a HDD without any issues - only thing is didn't support was DTS audio (as LG didn't license it from Dolby).

I also have a Samsung 7 series LCD TV (it was a birthday present) in my bedroom. Whilst it has all the bells and whistles, it doesn't play .ts or .mkv files, which for me is a deal breaker.

So overall, after doing my research and comparing Sumsung vs Sony vs Panasonic va Sharp vs LG, I think this TV will be great if you use it for what it is - a TV / display unit. All the other brands/models may have more bells and whistles but it all comes down to quality and price.
