i thought the OP mentioned it is return tix (departure and return dates).

      • Thank you Josh, yes I inserted for return flight.

    • Good thing its a return flight then…

    • I looked at the price OP posted and saw it was $2,200. I then checked one way and it was $1500. These aren't bargains. I stand by my original comment.

    • Just as well that the OP didn't post that deal eh

  • A quick Kayak search suggests the price is good - next cheapest is China Southern at $1656 on the same return dates.

  • I thought BA is one of the best.
Reading reviews for BA Premium Economy on seatplans.com, look like its one of the never-to-be-travelled-on airlines.
Looking for Sydney-Frankfurt deals for May, if somebody comes across one.

    • BA's decent generally, but you'll find its premium Economy lacking compared to the others.

    • BA's Premium Economy on the 747 is pretty dire, but the Sydney-Singapore-London flight has been upgraded to their new 777-300ER's. It has a much better Premium Economy (especially considering it is much cheaper than QF).

  • Nice, Premium atleast oneway becomes worth it now…!!! lol

  • Where does it normally stop over? (can we actually also stopover if we want to?)

    • Singapore or Hong Kong

      • I flew BA to London in 2011 and stopped bangkok

I thought I'd give it a whirl to see what the price was for a SYD-LHR return flight cost.

One thing that I found annoying was (apart from the fact that it is only for Sydney departures, that it seems to only apply to one way Sydney to London flights, not the whole return leg.

Another thing I found interesting is that if you plug in a return journey for (in my case), SYD-LHR-SYD from Friday 30 August 2013 returning Monday 30 September, the outbound flight (SYD=LHR) costs $1000.

Doing the exact same search but only one way, that same flight is $1,509. Both economy.

Also, the code does not work when your flight is split into two segments. IE. SYD-SIN and SIN-LHR. You need to flag the exact same flight but which only shows up as SYD-LHR even though in reality it stops through Singapore.

Overall I was not that impressed with the deal. During the Qantas sale last week, the cheapest flight I could get for my preferred dates was Economy MEL-LHR-MEL on the QF9 / QF10 via Dubai (Economy) for $1500ish via Expedia.com.br.It was cheaper overall for me to use my Any Seat Award and use my points plus pay overall but it was very tempting to do it that way.

Sorry for the extended post but overall I do not think it is that crash hot a deal unless you are from Sydney and are willing to fly one way.

  • I get 15% BA from MLC super. But it only applies to the flight, not the taxes and surcharges. Is this one the same?

It applies to total airfare (after taxes and surcharges )

I tried to book the same fly from SYD to LHR as the OP but the final price is 2,236.08 AUD (return). How did you guys get it down to 1,511.46? Thanks.

    • Hi Climbingrose, I think it depends on peak/low season you put your dates into the system. Mine I put on May flights , but I can see that the fare increases in June/July. As any other airlines.
