    • i went in today and it could be dropped further to $73, but the sales guy got me thinking if this is one for me (Maps update, reliability) so walked away to do more researching.

It may be a "pretty god price" however it is no bargain! As per above, JB have it even cheaper. Why even bother posting this up here…..

Not everybody knows there's a better deal by $1 somewhere else :)
      Thanks OP :)

      • The power of google. The OP should have done a quick check on competitors pricing. Furthermore, as noted above, even lower again at JB. If everyone started posting normal prices for all items on Ozbargain then this would no longer be a site for bargains. This is basically an advert.

  • Do they have life time map upgrades? If not I am wondering how recent is the map already loaded on it.
I have bought a brand new phone sometimes back and it came with 4 years old map. Bought a car with sat nav and it doesn't know some main roads finished 3 years back. Toyota asks for around 400 to update the maps.
When the GPS unit it self become too cheap this can be similar trap as those Glocose monitors. :)

  • Paid $99 for the Nuvi50 with Lifetime Map updates just a few months ago.

    • But are you getting map updates? I sent in the redemption form with proof of purchase for a Nuvi50 and heard nothing. When I try and update the GPS it wants me to pay for maps. I'm now chasing Garmin up about it and they're a black hole.

  • jb've a mandate to move competitors out of business, hence a lower price. -$1 +1

  • found some garmin/tomtom confusing to use.
    giving bad directions.

  • Just got one of these for mother in law from JB for $78 with 20% off making it $62.80.

If you install the garmin software they give you a free update of the firmware and to the lastest maps. Seems like a great deal to me.

    • maybe good for a year only.
found garmin gave confusing routes as did tomtom so that I had to override them to take direct routes sometimes.
tried following them a few times and found they took me out of the way.
the toll / no toll option can give crazy alternatives
