  • tempted..
    (1,959) ratings 4.6 stars… not bad.

    • There is a free version with less features if you want to give it a try first

      • @ 1 $, just bought it, not sure if I'll ever use it, but the use the phone as a mouse feature sounds interesting. Will try it out.

        • I was much the same, esp when I saw they are developing Linux and OSX support - I knew i would want it for sure someday

  • +1

I use it to control my media server from my phone. It works well, no lag like you may expect.

    • yeah, I just tried it and the fact that there's zero lag is amazing! $1 well spent, I'd say

  • +5

Bad ozbargain. Just spend 1.04. Lucky it is telstra credit.

    • I know, since my credit express today (had $2 left) this was effectively free!

    • +1

stack with the $30 telstra start sim pack for $10 ozbargain and your rolling. now it only costs you $0.693 cents!!

  • +1

I don't know if I'll use it but I bought it anyway. :p

  • Does it work with macs??

    • +15

If your Mac runs Windows then yes.

Turn your smartphone into a wireless universal remote control for your Windows PC.

    • Not yet but they are working on it according to http://www.unifiedremote.com/overview
      "Unified Remote Server App
The server application runs on your computer. Currently we only support Windows. We are currently working on a new server, which will be compatible on Windows, Linux, and OSX."

  • Good price for a great app. Bought it a while back and I use it all the time.

  • wow, this combines a few apps I use for PC control into one. thanks

  • can u use this xbox media centre?

    • Do you mean the old version running on the original XBox? Can't say for sure but it lists several XBMC remotes, and I can only guess the old version had similar http control support?

    • If XBMC is running on a Windows PC - then yes.

I have XBMC running on linux (OpenElec) on a silent passively cooled computer (Arctic MC001) so unless they release an XBMC add-on for this program I dont know if I can use this software to control the OpenElec flavour of XBMC.

I just tried it on this PC I am typing on (Win8) and the file browse feature, and "Basic Input" (phone screen as a mouse pad / keyboard) feature works well.

      • Although not ideal, if you have the server software on a Win PC, you can configure the XBMC (Advanced) remote on the server to connect to the ip of another machine to control.

    • Best remote for XMBC is Yatse.

      • The only thing I don't like about Yatse is that it needs to sync its own copy of the library. I always found I was having to wait for a sync to finish so I could see that show that just got added to the library.

        • That, and the volume up/down increments are too large.

  • is this like splashtop?
I had that before - didnt like it. Bit laggy and not smooth

    • This is for controlling programs on your pc, or using phone as a keyboard or mouse on your pc. No viewing of the desktop via the phone in this one..

Good deal! Very useful for powerpoint presentations, etc.

    • that's a pretty good idea!

  • What's it usually retail for? I see one of the comments said
"Couldn't resist purchasing full version at such a bargain (99ยข)"

    • +2

Normally $3.99 I think.. Yeh it's US$0.99c, but for some reason Google is charging us 5c for the priviledge.

    • +6

Just because you can't work it doesn't mean you should neg a good deal. I clicked + on your comment by accident when trying to hit the - icon and ozbargain doesn't let you change your vote once you click. I feel dirty that I give your post a +1.

      • +3

Click on "votes" on the comment you voted on, click the red, round "minus" sign - your vote will be revoked

        • Thanks for the that, but I saw your post too late - I'm getting "Votes older than 1 hour cannot be revoked". I'll be sure to use it next time something like that happens.

    • Got the server software installed and ruled out a firewall issue? Are you trying to auto scan for servers or adding manually? Or is it added already but drops out? Sure there is some logical reason why it's not working properly for you.

  • Just bought, the media server is downloading really really slow though :\ 1.6/4.7 MB in ~5 mins

  • At risk of asking a dumb question, what's the portable version of the server?

    • Portable versions of programs are ones that run without installing first and keep their settings inside the programs current folder. It's ideal to keep on a USB drive and ready to run on any PC. Check out www.portableapps.com I run everthing portable nowadays.

  • Thanks OP… I hope they implement the easier custom remotes option that they talk about in the FAQ… easily making specific remotes for BBC iPlayer and Sky Go etc would be useful…

  • -.- I just bought it the other day full price… good thing it was with the me2u credit transfer.

Works well for me, only thing I'm annoyed with is that using the Itunes remote crashes the program on my desktop… No one else seems to be having this issue though

  • Wow, this app is great. Thanks, OP. Worth well more than $1!

  • +1

So annoyed that I cannot download this.
    I get the message
"This app is incompatible with all of your devices.
    Optus Samsung GT-N7000
This item cannot be installed on your device."

Most likely because I'm not in Australia at the moment :(
Marketenabler won't work, I read it's because it's based on IP address now?
Is there any workaround to this?

    • Err that error isn't related to a regional restriction, but is a device compatibility problem.

Basically means the dev hasn't approved the app as working for your device.

      • Thanks.
I'll stick to the free version then, that works fine for me.

    • Thanks for posting that, you saved me a $1.04, and a lot of frustration.

    • You could try contacting the developer, seems odd that it shouldn't be compatible with your phone.

      • Thanks for the suggestion, I've submitted a support ticket to them :)
I looked on google play on my phone at at the top it says "This item isn't available in your country". It's my Australian phone with Australian sim card, but I won't be back in Australia until May, when this sale is over. So I guess I miss out, tough! Oh well…

        • use a VPN! :)

  • Bought it. Thanks.
