  • Just bought one, thanks for sharing. Let's hope we get it soon though.

  • +2

    Bought one.

If the deal goes south, just ring the credit card provider and ask for a chargeback.

If it comes through, really good deal for 2TB.

    • it's in South…SA :)

  • -3

    Guys, I am confused.

I pruchased the deal from their website after filling out my details and credit card details BUT NO POSTAL ADDRESS was asked.

Then I received the voucher in my email and checked my bank account, the $65 is already pending.

As on the voucher says "valid from 13th Jan", should I wait until 13th to send them the voucher ID with my name and postal address I suppose?

    Thanks.

    • To redeem, please email: [email protected] with your:
      1. Name and contact details
      2. OurDeal voucher ID
Please write "OurDeal - Seagate 2TB" in the subject line of the email

      • Now or after January 13th?

I didn't even know it was a voucher system until after I paid. Probably should have read it before buying.

        • Must order by: 13th February 2012
          Valid until: 13th March 2012

        • +4

after 13th January, but before 13th February.

Chances are half the people buying won't realise they need to do this, and will sit idly by waiting for their drive to arrive.

        • -1

Yeah, I can read my email, that's not answering my question… The email says the deal doesn't start until January 13th, so do we wait until then before emailing the seller with the voucher codes?

          [edit]
          Thanks tritorious.

      • As on my voucher, it says valid from 13th.

Should I send it now or wait until 13th to send.

Also contact details should include postal address right?

        • Personally, I would wait.. and do exactly as the voucher says.. and I mean, EXACTLY.. I was thinking of buy 4 drives, but then again, I don't want to give them any reason to wriggle out of the deal

        • as tritorius say.

    • Were you guys asked to fill out postal address when paying?

Or send it in email when redeeming after 13th Jan?

      • +1

I am just going to do both - sending it now and after 13 January… just in case the limit is reached - would want to get in ASAP.

  • +7

Tempting deal. On superficial appearances a good deal but instinct tells me this is going to end badly. Unknown vendor, use of vouchers. I'm going to stand back and save myself the grief.

  • +2

if there are problems, don't expected OURDEAL to help or even answer emails…

    • +2

They have answered my emails in the past.

      • I'm trying to call them NOW but they're not picking up.

  • Great deal especially for those looking to crack open to external hdd and use the hdd for secondary internal storage for their PC

  • 2TB @ $65 deliverED!! you wouldn't get any better deal than this!!

    thanks undercut for sharing this!!

  • Price match with OW?

    • -1

They don't sell USB 2.0 anymore. Hardly to find USB 2.0 at OW.

      • +1

that weird considering 20% of ppl hav usb 3.0 pc

        • +2

it's backward compatible to USB 2.0.

  • is this 720rpm or 5400rpm drive?

    • -1

      7200

    • +3

apparently 7900rpm, according to this!! http://axeze.com.au/external-hard-drive

    • Usually green drives in externals.

    • It's 7200RPM. Though according to Seagate's website, the ST320005EXA101-RK is variable RPM HDD to save power and reduce noise.

Nevertheless, this is nowhere near as fast as a Samsung SpinPoint F3 or a Caviar Black and Amazon/Newegg both confirm this to be a pretty slow USB 2.0 drive.

  • +8

This is going to end up like the Havaianas thongs group deal where they couldn't supply enough thongs and just simply didn't respond to everyone's complaints. Didn't get an answer until recently which was almost half a year in…

Personally wouldn't recommend going in for this deal.

  • +3

I'm very tempted as it's an amazing, amazing price, but the bad reviews are definitely putting me off..

  • Better value somewhere else ——as this drive is super slow and made me lost 1Tb of data….and now sitting as a junk..Anybody wants that for FREE!!! You can't save anything ……in it though! Not even lasted 2 weeks…

    • hi cdeep0,
have you tried removing the drive from the external enclosure and mounting it internally?

There's a good chance that your data may still be recoverable if its only the enclosure that has failed which appears to be common with seagates.

      • Thanks @allergic2work - let me try as still quite upset with loss of data.
By the way - I loved your screen name…

  • Does anyone know what power cable is needed to support this drive? As mentioned earlier, it doesn't come with power supply.

  • +2

Hmm, I might have to quit work & become a full-time OzB'er! Since I've been on holidays I've been Johnny-on-the-spot for quite a few sweet deals that I'd have normally missed. Thanks a bunch for the heads-up Undercut…I got two @$55 using separate transactions & referral credits! :D

I'll be stuffed when the office re-opens next week! :p

    • I've been thinking the same thing - the only problem is, one needs to work in order to service the OzBargain habit! It's worse than smack! (not that I'd know)

  • +14

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/our-deal.html

Please read the reviews about Ourdeal

they charge your card twice - no customer service & no promise to honour the deals - one dodgy little company - I will take a pass on this one :) considering i have alot of bad experiences with group buying sites

    Regards

    • Well, I've used Ourdeal about a dozen times now & never had a single drama. The deals have been exactly as described & straightforward transactions, no billing issues. I suspect a lot of other OzB'ers are in the same boat.

Not really a valid reason to neg the deal mate.

      • +10

I am going exactly by the feedback and not saying a word from my self - I have dealt with alot of group sites before considering 1000+ orders you think they will be bothered replying your 2000 emails? I dont think so -
There is a history with the supplier & thats exactly what i have quoted - i would rather buy a product that is $10-$20 expensive but wouldnt have to wait for 4 months to get the product or to go through chargebacks & consumer affairs to get my money back

Usually the case with such suppliers are that you cannot charge them back as they have provided what they promised "A VOUCHER" is a delivery of goods - The actual goods come from the merchant/company who you are in contract with - thus even if our deal replies back to your email all they would be saying is contact the actual SUPPLIER as they are the one sending items out - thus no refund as they delivered what they promised - Been through this with groupon - nearly dragged them to VCAT for 5 tablets that i bought and never received - glad i got the refund after 3 months of pain!!

        • As previously mentioned, if it looks like going pear-shaped I'll just use the chargeback option if the response from Ourdeal is not timely enough. They've done right by me thus far, I see no reason not to give them the benefit of the doubt in this case.

        • Actually, the alternative to this deal would be more than just $10-$20 more expensive. The cheapest external 2TB I have seen lately is $95, after pricematch from Officeworks. So, you're looking at more than $30 more expensive.

Everyone has a price. Most of OzB-er's are going into this fully knowing the deal might not go ahead. But it's worth the risk, as the only thing we're risking is just time.

      • no dramas means it's a legit company, but doesnt mean it's a good company. it's how they deal with the issue counts

        • Fair point.

    • +1

The feedback is quite damning. Glad I didnt bite

    • If they're this bad wonder how they're still operating !

      • +2

because of people like us :p - they post unrealistic deals and wouldnt think that the deals would be tagged by ozbargainners =D

Also if a deal is not honoured by the supplier ourdeals is not in a mess - they have already made a comission out of it :) - you are the one chasing the suppliers and asking for money back - thus there is a way less chance of them going bust!!

        • What are the chances of all the OzBargainers (1250 orders) getting duped ?

EDIT: I got this reply from the CEO of Axeze when I asked if they would be able to honor the orders due to high volume of purchase.

          Yes, we have 2,000 units.

    • Ourdeal is owned by Channel 10, so you can expect them to hold good and come through with this deal. However it is the HDD to be concerned with, especially entrusting it with 2TB.

  • 971 sold as of 1 minute ago.

I hope it works out OK for you guys

  • +1

Here's one of my $10 coupon code. See if anyone can use it:

    DVOD-FT63TUXNPZN

    • This one has been used up FYI.

      • Thanks for letting me know, Shawn. Somebody must've used it and not bothered to tell us about it.

        PS. Check your OzB inbox.

  • In for 2!

  • 1028 bought

  • Nice price, and I need a drive… But I really need it now, or next two weeks at the most so I doubt this deal is for me.

    Good luck to everybody though!

  • -2

    Couple of questions:

1 for those who've cracked the drive open, what's the HDD inside?

2 Has your CC been charged? Deal says: Your credit card will only be charged when the minimum sales target is reached

    • +20

I couldn't read your questions. could you perhaps bold them a little more?

    • Sorry about that, seems to be a bug in the browser.

    • well, they've sold over 1000 units now, we don't even think they have so much stock LOL

  • Perfect timing… my drives are at critical capacity! Picked up 2.

  • Bought one. Let's see if they can actually fulfill the orders in a timely fashion.

  • +4

I would gladly pay $10 more and buy this from a retailer's sale than from a group by site. This may not end well…

    • Let's see you buy a 2tb external hard drive ANYWHERE for $75.. So whilst the fantasy might be that you wish to pay a little more from a reputable retailer, the reality is is that you won't find a 2tb drive for under $100 anywhere…

And anyway, everyone will have bought with a CC, so if it doesn't end well, just get a chargeback. Yes its a hassle but I think its worth it to try and get some reasonably priced drives.

    • Which retailer is selling this for $10 more than the $55 I paid??? :p

  • Bought one, although I find it very hard to believe that this site has 1000+ of these for sale.

  • Great deal….bit suss though, is it too good to be true?
    http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=85-91+South+Rd,+Thebarton%C…
Havent heard of them before, google maps may be out of date but not terribly promising.
Up to 1100 bought now, still tempting to grab a couple for the NAS.

  • is this deal for Sydney only?
    Im in victoria.

    • It's stated very clearly in the OP.

      Australia-wide delivery included

    • what would make u think that superkieu?

  • 1130 bought. I just grabbed 2. Sweet deal.

  • As stated above dont expect ourdeal to answer any emails if this goes bad.

  • +2

"Click click click"…. the sound of drive death.

Wouldnt touch this drive with a ten foot thingy. Perfect example of when a bargain is not at all.

Recommend that you dont buy this unless you want to welcome in your newest nightmare: Data loss.

    • +2

with a name like king tight-arse and then saying ten foot thingy….hmmm. makes me wonder. could have used better words.

      • +1

        playful, joking etc…

        • +1

          :p

  • +3

I have a bad feeling about this. Remember, you are buying a coupon not a HDD.
And just hoping the coupon will be redeemed. If not, will OurDeal refund without a huge amount of hassle, or even answer your calls?

If it looks too good to be true … I know a Nigerian prince.

    • +2

You're buying it with a credit card. The bank can do a complete refund, if you call them. Hakuna Matata, mate.

      • I just called the bank, they said that the transaction has been processed and the amount has been held by ourdeal. The only way to reverse it is by cancelling the card and getting a new one (for 50$). They suggested that I keep contacting ourdeal and the merchant and keep the copy of email. Ourdeal does not have an email address, it just has an email form. The merchant is based in SA, I wonder how this is going to be honored.

        • That's not really what I meant. I was referring to manic's allegation that maybe OurDeal is not an entirely honest operation, and should our money be embezzled by them, what would be our recourse?

In that case, having ascertained that OurDeal is truly acting in bad faith and has thus failed to fulfill their end of the contract, and still not refunded said amount of money owed to us, we will be able to contact our banks and have our funds debited back to our account.

However, your wanting to cancel the deal that you've enterred into already, does not really fall into the same purview and thus are subject to further scrutiny by the bank, hence the extra hoops you have to jump through to get your money back.

        • +2

No, the bank hasn't told you the full story Kaushik. Just wait til you've fulfilled the order requirements, then if you haven't recieved your products in a reasonable timeframe & wish to cancel the order just inform Ourdeal/Axeze that they haven't met their contractual obligations & then go to your bank again with your CC statement, point out the transaction, tell them that it was goods/services not rendered and ask for a chargeback.

They can most certainly do that…and it will actually cost Ourdeal to have the transaction reversed!

        • I never suggested OurDeal was acting in bad faith.
Just that it might be a hassle if the supplier reneges for any reason.

  • If the drive fail, where should I send it to?

    • +6

Post it to Visy Recycling - do good for Mother EARTH!! :p

as my experience, call seagate reps in sydney.

1200+ sold. This is going to be one huge mess. Not holding much hope out for my drive arriving.

if from Adelaide, i work at keswick, just a few KM from the supposed address,.. but im not gona go take a looks see,.. what company dosnt pick up their phone 9-5? first alarm bell…

second, these are too cheap,.. what they are prob betting on if its even half legit is..

      1. taking you cash, putting in into a high interest account,
      2. then in 6-9months when hhd prices do come down to $50 a pop will deliver the drive to people…….

shipping would be $10-15 right now,.. who on earth is gona sell you a hhd for $50 when they are going for over $150,.. and ohh yes a 7900rpm one at that?

      come one guys

oh and iv never hear of the mob in 15years…

      • umm…no…first of all, hard drive prices are VERY unlikely to drop within the next year and a half. You can see that from these reports: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9222522/Impact_of_har… and http://www.firstpost.com/tech/hard-disk-drive-shortage-hits-…

Even if the price DO drop, to get a 2TB drive under $50 a pop, you'd be looking at 2 years.

The customer backlash on these if the drives don't start turning up would start within I'd say a week after the first emails are sent (20th Jan), knowing how strongly OzB-ers like their deals. I doubt the company would survive the onslaught for 2 years before they can actually justify buying enough stock to fulfill these orders.

        • -1

the first link was from nov the second dec, and it states, "effected" to what extend, hardly any really by them.. price will normalise in 3 months,.. 2tb hhds now are getting close to $100 .. for instance msy price drops,.. and the 3tb drives went from 299 to 199.. this would put pressure on 2tb and lower in any even on its own… so your $50 in 2 years is pretty crazy,.. but go a head and take the thin edge of the wedge.

          1. cheap hhd's
          2. something something
          3. profits.
    • cant see their signage or anything on the google map, only AIHS Campus on number 91.

    • Since this is the address of a private College offering Hospitality and Management TAFE courses, I am highly suspicious.
My guess is this 'deal' has been set up by a staff member or international student and there is no Computer Retailer at all.
I would be wary of the cash hitting their account and they disappear on the next flight to Singapore.

The last update on the AXEZE website seems to date back to 2009, and the PO Box listed on the contact page is the same as for Mason College.

      DODGY!

    good deal for suckers

  • +6

    From productreviews.com

Overall: We purchased a deal for an air guitar for our son for Christmas. Surprise Surprise Christmas here and no guitar. Email sent, but no reply. This company should be put in the same bin as Catch Of The Day and Grocery Run. This company has dodgy written all over it. First deal is the last deal as far as we are concerned !!

…. I can imagine ourdeals response…. "Yes mam…. we have in fact dispatched your air guitar… you should have recieved it in the air box that we sent it in…. via air mail."

    • I have bought from COTD heaps of times, never had an issue so if this is in the same bin then there shouldnt be any problem.

      • +1

COTD is oke but their sister company scoopon is different case.

    • The air guitar deal was on the 14th of Dec and the deal stated "Please allow 2-3 weeks after the deal closes for delivery".

      http://www.ourdeal.com.au/deal/colour-blocker-air-guitar-del…

Looks like a case of the buyer not reading the terms of the deal, then whinging for what was their own fault.

    • +1

I can imagine ourdeals response…. "Yes mam…. we have in fact dispatched your air guitar… you should have recieved it in the air box that we sent it in…. via air mail."

      LOL, good call dude! ;)

    • Who needs to buy an air guitar? I was born with mine :D

  • I am a little concerned now due to the volume of sales…

I got 4 drive (orders of 2 and 2) and have noticed the times for redemption have now changed by a month - it all looked good when I purchased them as only 100 had sold but with 1200+ now sold this could be tricky

Is there anyone from Ourdeals or the supplier that can comment here for us?
