Never again. Had an LG die about 3 times in the span of 2 years with 2 motherboard replacements, took more than a week to get a technician in. Didn’t even bother with a warranty claim the third time around, just replaced it and haven’t had a single issue in the 2 years since.

    • What did you buy

      • +7

        Replacement is Miele

        • +4

mother board, maybe it is not the motherboard's fault, probably powersupply kill the MB , then kill 2nd one, poor service :D

          • +2

@uccoffee: Could be, maybe the new one has better circuitry that can handle whatever the problem is with the power if it’s that

Seems like we got just got a dud, but The Manager won’t allow another LG in the house after that unless it’s a TV ;)

    • +7

My experience is totally different to yours. Mine lasted 11 years now. Samsung died on me. Probably depends on model.

      • +2

11 year old machines arent built like cheap machines these days designed to fail

        • They were already built like shit 11y ago

        • +1

been using lg one for 3 years never missed a beat.

          • +1

@michaelTito: Not the same model but bought a LG 14 KG top loader and haven’t missed a beat too.

    • +2

maybe the old ones were much better built so can't really comment on the newer models, but my LG washer is now going on 15+ years … 0 warranty call outs or repairs.

      • My 19yo LG washer dryer is still going strong. Not a single call out

      • My LG washing machine was purchased after Covid.

    • +7

Sample size of 1 yet "Never again"

      • +3

He did get it repaired twice, so cant blame him haha.

    • +8

I got a LG 9KG washer from 2021, no issues, previous LG 8KG wasn't even direct-drive and lasted from 2008 through to 2017 when I sold it.
My folks have a LG top loader that's been going since about 2012 and that thing gets abused.
Sometimes it just depends on the model, the person assembling, the transit journey, the usage, the storage environment.
It's the equivalent of getting a "lemon" or "Friday car", sometimes it's just shit luck.

      • +1

+1, yep definitely the lemon ours was

Love their TVs but just got sick and tired of the callout delays with a full house

I hope yours and the folks continue to run well for years

        • Sadly I think the service would be the same from LG/Samsung/HiSense/Bosch/every other brand.
Like the warranties often only cover parts and the service is extra.

    • +1

I was thinking about LG this time, but might skip. My Electrolux washing machine had 2 repairs done in 2 years, replaced it with another Electrolux and then after 4 years, both motherboards died. Now after 4 years, it is giving multiple errors.

      • I think luck plays an important role here.
My parent 1st Electrolux lasted 15y and refused to retire. They replace it anyway when moving home and the new one is going strong after 6 years.
My first one door has an issue after 8 years and I am on year 4 on the new one :)

        • Absolutely, I have an Electrolux for just over 10 years and had one issue where the motherboard was replaced when it was under 2 years old and still kicking well after over a thousand washes (approx)

          • @Ohreally: +1 for Electrolux, EWF1074 going strong since 2010. Not a single issue so far. Want to replace it with higher capacity but mind is not ready to get rid of Electrolux for nothing.

    • +2

Bought ours 2008, still going strong in a 7 person household. Epic workhorse. Drain pump died at age 15 but I fixed it myself for a $25 part off ebay and a youtube video
Will definitely be looking at LG again.

    • +1

I've got a top-load 6.5kg had since 2018, some minor rust spots around the outside, but given the workout we've given it, it's pretty damn good - we use it almost daily - we have 4 guinea pigs so they have toggles + fleece combos that always need regularly swapping/washing, along with our own stuff.

I think it's just luck if there's any actual issues with these things.. QC, manufacturing etc.

    • +2

My LG 7kg frontloader still going strong after 18 years… occasionally abused with queen winter doona and deals with it like a champ. I must be lucky.

    • I've had a series 5 lower model than this

Has done i just checked the app over 1103 washes and zero issues.

      been rock solid.

LG quality is good the issue is getting a tech to come out..

    • My LG front loader is going on 13 years and is still running well. The barrel isn’t spinning as balanced as it once was, but I put that down as ‘user error’ by moving it without the bolts in

  • +5

Have one at home on right now - loving it.

  • +5

i have one of these its absoluaty amazing

  • Easiest way to gain access to the partner store without an affiliation through occupation?

  • Choice recommended (75%) but 2.9 stars out of 5 by Choice member reviews.

    From the manual

This appliance must be installed on firm flooring to minimize vibration during the spin cycle. Concrete flooring is best, being far less prone to vibration during the spin cycle than wooden floorboards or a carpeted surface.

    • +3

Who's putting a washing machine on carpet?

Every rental (including this one) that did have floorboards throughout/mixed carpet whatever, the laundry room was always tiled or concrete or something.. Anything else and you're asking for a bad time lol.

      • -1

I have thin aluminium attached to floorboards (laundry cupboard literally), so I don’t think this one is for me.

        • Ohhhh yeah I wouldn't. Def stick to something much lighter. Our current top load is like 40 something kg. Front loads tend to be heavier so keep that in mind too

  • currently, have a LG washing machine and sometimes it gets stuck at 8 minutes during the spin cycle.

    about 2 years old

    • What happens after after it gets stuck @ 8 minutes?

      • +7

I think we all know what happens when things get stuck with washing machines…

        • +3

          only happens to blended families.

    • Funny that. We travel around the country and the place we just stayed the LG machine stuck at 8 minutes when washing sheets. It seemed not to be able to spin the load. Maybe it can't handle the rated weight. Rust around the face of it as well.

  • +2

my LG now 15 years on, moved multiple times, dogs, young family — gets a solid flogging…. never missed a beat

  • -1

My Samsung is on its 10th Year

  • how is Westinghouse as a b rand for washers?

    • I bought my first ever brand new appliance back in 2017, a Westinghouse washer (front loader 6.5kg) was absolutely the cheapest new washer available at the time. It does at least a load a day, my partner usually overloads it, hasn't skipped a beat and given it cost less than an applianance technician call out I'd say my opinion of LG washers is pretty high.

    • +1

      Westinghouse is rebranded Simpson.

      • Wtf. That my favourite brand

      • and Simpson is owned by Electrolux

      • Not quite, different brand in Electrolux Group. Similar to how Volkswagen Group has a number of sub brands. Simpson and Dishlex are now discontinued according to Wikipedia.

        • so is it a rebranded simpson???

How to get access to partner store ? Any easy way ?

I'm hit and miss with Bosch front loader with 2 sample size:
    - The Bosch 2001 lasted only 4 years.
    - The next Bosch 2005 lasted 20 years. It failed on me last week.

    I've just pre-ordered the $1600 LG WX10-1410MB 10kg Series 10 Front Load Washer - ezDispense

Let's see how log it lasts.

    • +1

      Which series Bosch?

      • Bosch Classixx front loader (WAE platform, 6.5 kg, 1000 rpm))
        Model: Bosch WAE20260AU/06
        Manufactured: August 2007 (in Thailand)

Design life: ~10–15 years, but mine lasted 18 years (not 20 years from my original post)
It could probably be fixed. The drum just stopped turning.

        • +1

Great lifespan for an entry level washing machine.

A 6.5 front loader would do my head in after having a front loader with a 14kg size drum.

I would only replace my front loader with a 14kg or larger machine. Only LG and Samsung make them today and I won't touch a Samsung appliance again.

Good luck with your LG WX10-1410MB. Looks like a nice machine that isn't released yet. Shipment start date will be from 22 Oct 2025 in order. Can you wait that long? lol

  • LG is not what it used to be. Avoid!!
I got the 10kg in 2022 and it kept leaking into the electronic panel and killed it.
Claim 1: Warranty claim with LG was a nightmare, lasting almost 2 months where you have to call them and they want another 24 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks.
Went to Good Guys and they replaced it with a new 10kg LG washer.

Claim 2: the new washer did the exact same thing. Tech came out and repositioned the dispenser spray.

Claim 3: didn’t work so they replaced the dispenser spray unit, saying they improved the design.

Claim 4: continued leaking until the electronics fried again. Weeks fighting with LG cause they tell you 48 hours, then they need another 48 hours for another team, then claim it’s not 48 hours but 72 hours etc

Now got the 10kg Hisense a few weeks ago and it’s great, for significantly less $.

    • When do you think the ‘used to be’ ended?

I agree Hisense has been doing me well. Have a TV and a heat pump dryer that have lasted years.

      • +1

@ColtNoir LG used to be great, I had TV’s and fridges that went well and never died. Like others saying, lasting 11-18 years. Only changed due to upgrades, and Hisense has been the reasonable brand every time.

Good Guys have been frustrated with LG for a couple years, and giving him lots of headache this year. So I assume 3 or so years ago the manufacturing must of changed, at least for some products.

The Hisense looks and feels better in quality housing/panels etc. I also got a Hisense fridge in Jan, been flawless and doesn’t even retain fingerprints like others.

    • Which model Hisense? And how much did it cost you?

      • HWFS1015AB for $798. Got GG to price match my GG Commercial so I got get gold service warranty on top

  • when i click the link it takes me to a login page? is everyone facing the issue?

    • Its not an issue, its employee log in portal, or you can accesss it from education portal to get this price.
I tried but they said not deliver in Adelaide metro. Strange.

  • I was told I cannot mount this heat pump heater to the wall?

Any other solution? I have limited space.

  • Got it delivered this week. Will try it out on the weekend.
