I think the 8 inch is the better deal as the screen is 800x600 and its more square (like a normal size photo) than the 7 inch.

All they need is a quality (non-existant) colour e-ink display and solar… then I'll buy one… when they eventually get down to a reasonable price.
Please do not use solar power, it requires power to manufacturer the cells which is a waste of energy.
Modern solar panels reimburse their environmental footprint in under 2 years and then proceed to generate clean green power for 20-30 years afterwards.
Their operational life provides 1,000%+ positive environmental benefit compared to their short manufacturing impact.
You can continue to consume dirty coal power if you like…
