Managed to collect 1x 4GB stick (lucky last one) at the Echuca DSE.

        Cheap as "chips"!

oh my god I think I got one! that's never happened before with a dick clearance deal before

    • +1 vote

Wait for the confirmation before you can be sure.

They show in stock in my area I went there they have non for me.

      •

Same thing happened to me 3 times with my local (Rockdale, NSW) store. They always show InStock and when you go in store, they say, its not available.

    •

Good to see you getting in on the dick clearances :P

  •

Got 2 reserved, will be good in my PC

    •

They allow you to reserve 2? Or you have login with 2 accounts?

      •

        separate orders

        • +1 vote

OK even I went there they don't have any for me.

I have just click and collect for 4 and see what they can give me.

If they can give me this time must be the guy didn't want to give me and reserve for himself.

Received call no stock for me.

        •

I eventually ordered 3 but from 2 stores and all 3 are ready for pick up :)

2 will go nicely in my N54L

  •

Reserved one at Eltham VIC, thanks OP
Edit: tried my luck reserving a second one, it went through so hopefully they can supply it!

  • +1 vote

Just got one reserved for me at my local. Cheers! My N54L will love this. I hope. No idea if it's even compatible. But for 99c, I don't care if it's not. I can just make weird jewellery out of it or something.

    • +1 vote

      From the N54L Specs Page:

      Memory:
      Two (2) DIMM slots
      2GB (1x2GB) Standard or 4GB (1x4GB)/8GB Maximum, using PC3-10600E DDR3 Unbuffered (UDIMM) ECC memory,
      operating at max. 800MHz

      •

thanks! I also checked my invoice from when i bought the N54L and bought some ram in a bundle, and the DSE ram matches what I got in the bundle, and the bundled one works, so I think I'm sweet.

  •

Thanks OP. I got 2 also and now the link gives me errors, OzBargained I guess :-)

  •

can somebody teach me how do I check if my PC can use this RAM?
My PC is about 3 years old, bought in 2010.

  •

Heading down to pick mine up now. Thanks for the heads up

    •

You have already received the click and collect confirmation?

      • +1 vote

I ordered one … doubt i will get it before the staff do!

        •

yep got the call to say they dont have any left

        •

yep got a call all gone ….. click and no collect

      •

Yeah, my Click & Collect reservation was accepted but instead of receiving confirmation that my order was ready for collection, the store called me to say "no more stock" :-( and when I asked why DSE online purchasing the system allowed me to proceed with the order was told "the site is not live". Well at least they called me promptly though it was still a waste of time.

      •

I called up and reserved one. I do however live in the middle of regional NSW so very little competition for stock.

  •

Ordered a 4GB DIMM and 2GB SODIMM about half an hour ago for collection from my local store, which had a green "in stock" status for both.

Just received a terse voicemail message that they've sold out.

  •

Randwick has low stock of the 4GB according to the website. I called up and after some checking (and being surprised at the price) he said they had none. Oh well.

  •

I just got an email and sms saying ready for pick up

    •

Same, just got an SMS to say my order (2GB DDR3 SODIMM) was ready for collection. Going to pick up now. Awesome! :)

      • +1 vote

me too, I got 2 sms and 2 emails to collect 2x2GB DDR3 SODIMM :)

        •

too many 2 in your post…

        •

Just picked up my 2Gb, no 4gb in stock. Someone find me cheap DDR3 1600Mhz ram

  •

received a call from Box Hill(VIC) says NONE IN STOCK,
that stupid guy direct me to Fountain Gate which is like 1 hour drive!
(checked online and found more in stock like 15min driving distance)

never ever once Box Hill have ANY stocks for any clearance even when the "green tick" say it's in stock…..
probably the staff reserve for themselves! will never again buy anything from DSE Box Hill!

    •

I assume you're talking about Nunawading having stock? It was green as well when I looked at the site.
Hopefully the guys at Eltham can come through otherwise I might have to try Nunawading too.

  •

Just reserved 2 at Warriewood, let's see what happens :)

    •

Just received my confirmation sms, going to pick them up now.

  •

Assuming this is for a desktop pc? I need some for a laptop

    •

Check my link they have SODimm DDR3 for laptop.

Coffs Harbour shows as "low stock" - but apparently they are showing 1 in their system, but no one there knows where it is.

Just collected two laptop ram from 4000. Thanks OP.

  •

ordered last 2 in TAS, good price..

    •

Good on you, nice to see some bargains in TAS.

    •

How can you know you have ordered the last 2?

      •

I ordered 2 in separate orders. When I tried to order the third one, it said sold out. lol….

      •

oops, checked this morning and it says low stock in Launceston. If you are lucky enough, you may still get one.

  • +1 vote

    picked up 2 in nunnawadding

  •

There's still one in Tamworth :P

  •

They said it's a pricing error but I still got one.

  • +1 vote

DSE forcing customers to 1 is similar to selling $100 tires for $10 but only allowing a customer to buy one (you buy in pairs or a whole set!)..

Congrats to those who picked up one or a pair because that is an excellent well below manufacturing cost price.

  •

16GB worth of RAM for $4 isn't a bad deal. Too bad there's no store any where near here that has it. All good if you can actually find it.

  •

if only this was posted yesterday! I was at a dse yesterday :((

  •

I'm going to keep this purchase active on the website until they get more stock in.

  •

Just received the a pickup notification sms at around 5:20pm.

Will go tomorrow morning to collect. :)

  •

Well I fell foul of the thieving DSE Staff. 2 confirmation/reservation emails. Get to the stores and apparently they have no record of my click and collect. And of course no more in stock. Only explanation they could give - someone must have deleted it. Yeah right.

    • +1 vote

Did you actually get any SMS messages or emails to say that your orders were ready for to be collected?

For reference, I got an initial reservation email, plus a ready for collection email and SMS after that.

      •

Yes. 2x initial emails and 2x email/SMS to say ready to collect.

        • +2 votes

Damn, that sucks. Feel for you man :(

It won't get you your cheap RAM, but it might be worth dropping a line to DSE about it, just to let them know that this kind of thing stinks.

If you got your collection messages, then there really shouldn't be any excuse for them not to have the order ready for you, unless there was a glitch somewhere along the line and the order went to a different store?

Have you checked the store details on the collection email?

        •

Yeah I am torn. The realist in me says don't worry about it for the sakeout of $2 RAM. But the bargain hunter in me says they owe me. And the vindictive bastard in me says make them pay for wasting my time.
Might take it to social media. It's wrong, but I don't need to profit out of it. Just make them aware it's a terrible system.

  •

I collected my 4gb one from Macarthur Square in Sydney and I asked him if he had more available and he showed me about 20 that were on hold for store pick ups. Than I went to Campbelltown Mall as I reserved another one there and he only had mine and another one for sale.
He also told me that the RRP for these were $35. Bargain!!!!!!! Thanks OP

  •

damn all sold out, i really needed one too

  •

If only this was posted this morning. I was at Dick Smith this morning slightly before mid day. All sold out since.

  •

i got 2, and have another click and collect to grab at another store tomorrow. going to call before i check incase they pinched it

    • +1 vote

Even if you call they could probably still pinch it afterwards as in another (dodgy) staff member grabs it from the click and collect storage cupboard before you get there. That kind of stuff shouldn't be allowed to happen. Big lack of respect for the customer.

  •

But I already have 4GB of DDR3 in my PC?

    •

Disregarding the fact that most stores would probably be sold out now, if you need to ask the question then you probably don't need the RAM :)

  •

I don't think I've ever seen any local stores sell RAM, maybe it's a WA thing?

EDIT: oh they have the laptop RAM, huh, go figure

  •

Thanks OP - I snagged a handful of the DDR2 ram for my old Dell PC. Might give it another few months before I need to take it off life support.

  •

Just picked mine up from Belconnen.

  •

Picked up the one reserved I at Ballarat store yesterday, called Wendouuree store and they had one left so got that one as well, but not for me, they will get used to upgrade family members PC's.

  •

I managed to score 5 2GB laptop RAM modules. I'm going to check my laptop to see how much RAM I can cram in. Does anybody know of a NAS box that takes 4 laptop RAM modules? that would be just BOSS and make my weekend. Hopefully something I can put FreeNAS on and run ZFS with my 8GB of RAM :P

I found an ITX that takes so-dimms however it sadly forces users to use 32bit OS. :@

  •

Picked up 2 x 4Gb DDR3 desktop RAM from Cranbourne DSE 5:30PM today.
DSE website clearly showed that it was out of stock this morning but I called anyway and they had 2. I don't know if this was a cancelled reservation or not but its clear that their inventory sys is not too reliable. I didn't get anything else because there was nothing worth getting. 60km return trip probably wasn't worth it but what the hell, me want more RAM!!!.

    •

That would be my click and collect I didn't bother getting after I scores 2 from morning ton then 2 from karingal

  •

It's not even showing up on the Dick Smith web site any more so it's obviously sold out at every store around the country. It's all over folks.
