  • Nice, and a great brand. But from a place that sells kitchenware?

$400 from Australian geographic, I would buy it from kitchenware for half price. Thanks OP

  • this is definitey a great price!

  • Check amazon.com for customer review, price is good, but there might be issues with product, make sure warranty etc is going to work for you…

Think I'll give this a miss. Cheap tripod? Unless I missed something, doesn't look trivial to attach my dSLR directly either.

      • A bit off topic, but I'm very interested in astrophotography & was wondering if you could recommend or point me into the right direction on where to get a thread/flange/adapter to attach a DSLR or M4/3 cam. Checked eBay & they seem few & far between.

        • The thing you need is called a T adapter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-mount
I'm not into it, but I gather the hotness now in astro photography is all about stacking multiple exposures in software (like hundreds) to get the equivalent of a super long exposure to reveal extra detail. A lot of the imagery I have seen is taken with web cams or other lower quality gear.

thanks OP. coupon TENSAVE works for another $10 off too.

  • This telescope is the very bottom of the Celestron range and unsuitable for anything more than cursory astronomy viewing. Good for the moon, that's about it. The wobbly mount and difficult to set up mount will end up disappointing. That said, this is a very cheap price for this scope.
Just know what you are getting if you order.
Unfortunately, there is no option of any usable quality at this price point. You probably need to go to about $400-$500 for something useful e.g. skywatcher or guan sheng dobs at Andrews: http://www.andrewscom.com.au/site-section-10.htm
