150

Just received this notice by email:

DVB Web Scheduler Pro is now free and open source.

The latest version of DVB Web Scheduler Pro is now available for download as a free and open source application.

You can download the latest version including the source from the main download page on the Blue Bit Solutions web site:

This is a great program I bought a while ago and it has performed very well. You can have it download the TV guide and schedule recording of your programs.

  • Good news, thanks for the info. Good to see that DVB Web Scheduler is free again. Even though I can't complain with using the last free version 4.0.14

  • Same here :) and I can concur that this is a great application so long as you have a good source of electronic scheduling data. Works a treat!

  • Another positive here… am using the latest free version but will certainly look into getting the latest version now that it's free!

  • does this have the same functionality as epgstream???

    whats the difference?
Does it work with vista media center?

    • EPGStream downloads the EPG data. I use it to deliver the data to DVB Web Scheduler.
DVB Web Scheduler is a recording program that works with a DVB capture card on your computers. I have a Tiny-Twin DVB USB capture device (can record two programs at once) and in DVB Web I can just click the name of the program I want to record and it will record it.

It's functionality is like Media Centre, but you can not watch live TV. It is only for recording (but it does this well and is easy to use).

      • I bought this program and it is one of the bes around. But I havent been able to load EPG Stream properly since it changed late last year. Anyone have a easy to follow guide?

  • Got this email as well just then.
Fantastic program, I have been using it for years, and purchased a copy a while ago.
Was well worth the price, but now free, even better value.

  • I have been using the free version for many year and a few days ago decided to upgrade and pay for the pro version. I procrastinated and didn't actually get around to making the purchase then heard it was free and felt it was so good I'd pay for it anyway, via donation. All you freeloaders should do the same, this software is brilliant.

  • So you still need to load the EPG data into it - right?

Bit of a shame, I think there's even a VMC/MCE plugin that allows a web-interface that should do more or less the same job. I'm not trying to say this isn't a good deal (any company that releases software for free is admirable) but I'm just curious how much effort is required into getting this going.

I'm sure it's definitely much easier than a web interface with MCE/VMC so I'll check it out, got a couple of DVB-T USB tuners at home (one in HTPC, one in desktop) so I'm sure I could put it to good use.

    Cheers!

That is the web interface for MCE/WHS. Its also free to use.

The advantage with DVB Web Scheduler is that you don't need Windows Media Centre (ie you can just use XP)
