I've got this same model, paid about $100 more a couple of months back. Good picture quality and fair sound for the price, it's a little slow to respond to the remote but life is better lived at a slower pace anyway ;-)
    3 x HDMI is great.
EPG is average - doesn't seem to pick up all the channels' programs.

End of the day, most definitely worth $249.

Only at this store. They have had this deal before at other now stores as opening specials in the past.

When a new Aldi store opens they usually put together a few specials to attract attention. Generally they reduce the price of leftover TVs collected from other stores (a big size one and smaller size) and have a few $1/kg fruit/veggie offers. They don't have any new items though (so I wouldn't get too excited) just some items advertised from a month or two back and the current weeks specials.

Their new openings are here: http://aldi.com.au/au/html/service/ALDI_new_stores.htm

  • I have to say that I bought one of those tvs and found the picture was really bad, I tried four and finally got a refund, and got a Samsung that was on ozbargain, lower spec but a world of difference.
I also bought one of those tablets, I mean how bad can it be for just Internet use?
    Pretty bad.
I returned that and bough an iPad mini, but that was around $380, I think the tablets for around that amount are a good staring point.
We love aldi and have bought a LOT of great stuff from there and even some veges, but not all are good.

You can get ainol tablets for bugger all ($98). I would hardly call an an iPad mini at $380 a good starting point.

Ainol: Still feel good at the bottom end

  • Yes, I bought a tablet too. It's ok for a child perhaps, but really I wouldn't recommend it. I think you are better off saving your money on this item for a better quality tablet. I really like Aldi but you do have to pick and choose carefully, especially on electronic items.

  • Update - went to Forest Hill at 9am and saw plenty of stock including opening specials. I bought the TV and a kettle and also avocados as they were 99cents each.
Plenty of staff to help, they are giving free Expressi coffee, smoothies, biscuits and trolley tokens.

  • Can anyone confirm whether or not the TV can playback H264 videos through USB? Also, how "slim" and heavy is it really? The picture on the box actually makes it look a bit bulky.

Edit: found out the weight. 8.7 kg apparently.

  • Would like to buy the tv but cant find the store phone number to check the availability
