Aus warranty 2 years via CR Kennedy.

It seems that canon mount is cheaper by $27.

Method:

Buy 4 x $50 cards with the coupon 50for39. (Promo ends Thursday)
Apply 10offAPril for a further $10 off

Obviously, it's cheapest to pick up yourself but postage is available too. According to the website they are out of stock but are on backorder. You also have the option of buying grey stock from them to save a bit more $$$.

some of these lenses cost insane amount! I understand a lens is a precision device, but still you can get good quality cheaper DSLR lenses (canon, nikon, sony) for like 150 - 200 which look the same and still must be of super high precision. what makes these so expensive??

      f1.4 aperture, build quality

    • +5

Mostly for the large aperture. $800 is hardly insane. People pay thousands for the Nikon and Canon version of the 1.4 and 1.2 aperture lenses. And then there are the 2.8 zooms. The $800 is relatively cheap for a lens of this quality

    • Sharpness, DOF and bokeh.

Guys, you can buy a Datsun 180b for two cases of VB tinnies! Why would anyone buy an Aston Martin Vanquish?! They are both just cars!

(the main appeal of this lens is that it's better in almost every way than the $1200-$1600 Canon alternative)

      • +1

Where can you get the Datsun? I'd offer 2 ctns of VB and a cask of Goon

    • Another noobies with noobies comment look so noobies. I can tell you it is way way harder to make one of this prime lens than making 10 iphone5

    • some of these computers cost insane amount! I understand a computer is a precision device, but still you can get good quality cheaper tablets (ASUS, Samsung, Acer) for like 150 - 200 which look the same and still must be of super high precision. what makes these so expensive??

it is insane sharp at f1.4.

  • I had the sigma 10-20 priced matched at crkennedy in east perth. Great blokes in there. it's worth having a look it if they still do price matching

    • they ALWAYS do price match. so if anyone is interested in Sigma lens, go and talk to them, and you will get a truly australian stock.
btw, i bought almost all of my lens from overseas except 24-70. but if i want to buy a sigma lens, it is better to buy local. sigma's may have various quality issues.

    • Man I wish I could afford this lens… much want… oh and what shop in East Perth? I thought CRKennedy were over east?

      • u can ring them.

  • Hoping they bring this out with NEX E-mount soon!

Not Aus stock as title suggests, it's actually classified as grey imported stock as you do not get official canon Australia warranty.

    • +1

Nah-its delivered from GC. It wouldn't be classified as grey 'import'

      • +1

Cameras Direct is actually a quasi-grey company. They sell both Australian and Grey imported stock with GST applied.

In this instance, the stock looks like its coming from CR Kennedy.

They're importers that provide their own local warranty. Just based in Australia, sortve like dd photographics.

        • +1

gotta check real careful on each item - some say offical canon/nikon/fuji etc warranty.

        • Hi Guys,

Just to put this to rest - this lens does come with a 2 year warranty from CR Kennedy, the Australian Distributor for Sigma (Not Canon as this is a Sigma lens). We also sell a version of this which we have imported ourselves, which just has a 12 month warranty.

          Thanks!
          CamerasDirect

    • Its a Sigma lens for a Nikon or Canon mount, not a Canon lens.

    • As stated in the descrip, the prices are for aus stock. You can save a bitby risking buying grey.

  • Just wonder, why cant buy 16 x 50 dollars cards. and get -176 off from original price? Or this there a limit of the 11 dollars off code?

    • Hi there,

There is a limit of 4 per customer and only 4 can be used per order.

      Thanks,
      CamerasDirect
