      Mine hasn't arrived which was shipped as per tracking number on April 1st. After contacting them they tell me it take 30 to 45 days !!!!

        Sparky by trade annd when i see cheap multimeters I have this bad feeling.

        Remember even if its a hobby or home use 25mA can send your heart into fibrillation and kill so be careful.

        I dont mean to offend but well its just the way I see.

          Most of the time I use mine to test batteries. Once in a while I check DC voltages in an electronic circuit. I hardly ever need to check the mains voltage. Yes I know the precautions needed.

          It's a tool. Ultimately the owners have to take responsibility for safe use.

          I see what you mean… definitely not for sparky use and IMO even not for occasional testing of anything to do with mains power. Probably more suitable for the DIY crows and as below for small electrical stuff around the house.

          BTW - how would a cheap multimeter risk your life? I always assumed it would just blow up or something? or is the problem that the fuse will not blow up when supposed to?

          Most multimeters don't offer voltage test under load but it's still useful to know the no-load voltage because a low reading indicates a cell that has definitely passed end of life, e.g. motherboard lithium cells, remote controls, clocks. In other places, e.g. cameras, toys, it's pretty obvious when the cell has to be pensioned off to a low drain use. Hence I've never needed a load tester.

          The problem is that you rely on what the multimeter is indicating and a cheapy could have cheap internals and they could have implications on your testing.
          Even if you dont test mains a decent dc voltage still can do a number on you.

          Anyway always test before and after to confirm…. and test your leads.

          I don't know if you have looked at a digital multimeter circuit in the last 20 years but nowadays they use one chip solutions which have good accuracy compared with the early days of A2D converters. Of course not as good as a pro multimeter but will you detect or care about 1% off? Just measure a cell of known chemistry and you will see it will be pretty much the book value.
