  • Nice! :)

There have been great reviews on this tablet. On par, if not better than the TF300T in performance, benchmarks and battery life (excluding docks). Confirmed to be on 4.1+.

the other day JB HI FI had this same tablet in store for $249.

Don't see how this is much better!

    • +6

You do not see that $244 is better than $249 ?

      That $5 saving buys lunch..

  • +3

This tablet is actually not too bad. This is posted with my new A510.

  • is this upgradable to jelly bean ?

    • -2

      I think no…

    • Confirmed to have 4.1 OTA.

Everything looks great on this. EXCEPT the proprietary charging adaptor. I can't convince myself to buy it as a consequence. It needs 12V instead of the normal 5V. A deal breaker for me.

    • Oh really? That's a deal breaker for me too. Can't use my portable charger…

      • +1

If you're talking about a lithium juice pack, buyincoins have a number of 12 volt output units (intended for portable feeding of security cameras) that will supplement the tablet battery nicely. There's a 9800mAh unit for $33 and a 6800mAh for $20.
You'll need a plug adapter to fit the tab, and one for the plugpack. Better to use a better quality plugpack you likely already own.
Vis-a-vis the lithium packs, in both cases you can expect the capacity to be overstated (probably by about a third), but it's an option for when you're on the go.
By the way, don't buy any of the cheap blue shrink-wrap 12 volt lithium packs that are on ebay and elsewhere. They are known with certainty to have appallingly overstated capacities .

    • Good to know . Thats a deal breaker .

      • troyww, see above^!

    • It can be charged using 5V, but it takes a very long time…

      • Some tabs with a dedicated dc input do allow a charge through the micro usb as well. Good to see that the Acer does, although it's obviously at the usb dictate rate of 500mA. Still, better than nothing.

  • Is it a bargain? Or I should wait the price to be dropped next month?

    • +1

If you want one today, yes it's a good deal…unfortunately, my DeLorean is all outta plutonium ATM so I can't tell you what's gonna happen next month…

  • Thanks OP.
Live in WA also, and tried Osborne Park as they opened at 11am today, the 2 new ones have already gone, and only diaply stock left. The guy was sure he could make the display stock a price I could not refuse, but on checking said that they can't sell that below this price either. He checked other stores and said he could only see stock in VIC and NSW (Unless he was guessing that there are stock in those areas), and suggested to buy online, if it still allows, and you are guarnteed to get non dispaly stock this way, paying just $2 for delivery.
So got home, and made the choice to buy, cost me $246 with the delivery, still a bargain, and I really only want to use it while travelling round USA and Europe later this year (Google maps/ places of interest, and flight check ins etc..), all our booked Hotel rooms have WiFi, so this will be good for checking seating on flights and playback of video from external hard drive. Then when I get back, I will try to "brick" it by rooting the drive and trying out some of the custom ROMs around for it. Looks like it will be a fun try at a tablet.

    • My order has just been confirmed ready for packing via email, from the closest store with stock to my address of Woodvale, WA, shipping from Bundaberg QLD. Could not get much further away, must be selling out fast.

  • Good deal, great to see a deal that can compete with the nexus 7/10.

Anyone know a dock that you can buy for this?

  • For some reason, I could not add it to the cart.
"Your selection is either incomplete or not in stock. Please be sure to select an option below."

Whatever store I select, it is saying pickup not available.

    • It is delivery only now I think, and keep in mind that delivery is just $2 Australia wide for small items, so still cheap. Or have you tried the delivery option already?
BTW, My tablet was paid for yesterday online, and is now showing as in transit with a tracking number (Posted from Bundaberg QLD, to my home in WA), so very fast to get it off to you anyway (Not as nice as wlaking out of the store on the day, so you can start messing with it the day you paid for it, but still a decent deal.
Strange thing though, I called the Bundaberg store this morning and they were saying that they had no stock, and mine will be on back order, then they said they do actually have stock, but not on their system??? They said that they have been provided with 3 other internet orders to fill, and have enough for those as well.

      • I am just clicking on : Add to cart

        • Yeah it seems the deal is now expired. Link from OzBargain still works and shows as in stock online however it's not listed on their main site any more and adding it to the cart doesn't work.

    • I picked up a brand new unit (not display stock) from JB Hifi for $237 this afternoon. Check your closest JBHifi stores, they may still have stock.

      • I checked my local store at North Sydney and they did not have any stock.
