A link to the actual deal / product is probably a good idea.

    • OK. Thanks

  • Seems like a great price, although bit hard to find any reviews, anyone have any knowledge of it?

    shipping $18 is a killer

  • +2

They did this same deal a few months back http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89079

  • Well I was gonna buy it, but no paypal, $19 shipping and still the same price as it was a few months back, so no thanks.

$117 delivered is a good deal.
+1 even though I'm not in the market.

  • I wonder if they fixed the problem of the mode dial breaking off very easily? Otherwise a good camera for the money, especially if you like a big-grip feel rather than a tiny credit card sized camera. Excellent zoom.

Max recording time 20min? Is this a single filesize limit or that it can only last for 20mins constant recording?

And it uses 4x AA batteries. :/

      Or more optimistically:

And it uses 4x AA batteries. :D

I see that as a positive.

      • How so?

Even if rechargable they don't have a very long lifespan (in my experience) and are easily lost/annoying to fiddle with.

          try eneloop
          http://www.amazon.com/eneloop-2000mAh-Pre-Charged-Rechargeab…

          • Just over $10 for 4xAA (helps if you order other stuff from Amazon while you're at it)
          • low self-discharge means they hold charge well after long periods of non-use
          • can work well in cold temperatures
          • outlast alkalines by a long shot
          • chargers can be had for peanuts for any rechargeable battery these days

          Advantages over proprietary li-ion batteries:

          • far cheaper batteries (under $11 per set of 4 quality rechargeables tickles my fancy)
          • spares are cheaper again (due to the far cheaper batteries)
          • 4xAA cases for used or spare batteries are 50 cents each or so on ebay. (cases for spare li-ion batteries are often not supplied, so it's harder to hunt one out to protect the battery from shorts or physical damage)

As the camera gets old, have fun hunting out the proprietary batteries, and have more fun seeing the prices climb. AA makes total sense here (and remember they are still used in professinal flash units and so many other items (so even when the camera is gone, you can have your AA rechargeables pressed into service in other devices, the true OzBargain way).

I have been using eneloop in this camera and can say I am amazed.
I was worried about the possibility of having to constantly replace batteries, however
I have been using the camera since Jan on the one set of batteries and have not yet had to recharge or change them!
The camera has been used about 15 times in this period, each time taking 5-30 photos.
Perhaps this is helped by the fact that the eneloops are low self-discharge.

  • Can we pick up?

  • +1

I bought this camera for $99 during the boxing day sales last year and I'm very happy with it. I'm obviously no professional and it won't stand up to the performance of any high-end DSLR, but if you want a quick point-and-shoot I highly recommend it!

    • +2

and you'd have to spend a fortune to get 26x zoom on a DSLR, so superzooms like this have their place.

Do not get Samsung digital camera, especially the one that requires AAx2 batteries. Trust me. You won't get a long lifespan on the camera. It consumes a lot of battery power. Save your money, get a better brand like canon or sony and do not get Samsung camera. I learned my lesson.

I am not a big fan of Samsung cameras but the golden rule of any photographer is "always have spare batteries on you".
