Tegra 2, ouch. Very dated tablet, only things it has going for it are the SD slot and a largish screen for the price.
IMO you're much better off with a Nexus 7 for a bit less.

heh, better off with a Chinese retina table for $30 less :)

The bad things about the Chinese tablet, they often switch off by itself randomly and poor WiFi reception.

        • +1

Yes I agree, whilst I am not a fan of Sony products Id go that over the cheap tablet with little to no support and painful warranty. Shipping things back overseas if…and when they do break isnt worth the hassle for most people.

I won't pay more than $100 on Chinese tablet no matter how good the specification is. Mostly they exaggerated.

Their display resolution of 2048 x 1536px <— could be interpolation of 640x480?

What do you mean? I love the way they handle warranty. Here is some of my messaging with them:

          Dear friend,
          Sorry for bother you.
We will sent out your item…

          Isn't it adorable? :D

        • how do you interpolate a screen?

        • +2

is not about the warranty per se. it's about sending the item back to them that cost so much. thx auspost:(
don;t know how sellers from china, india, singapore and thailand can offer free shipping to aus. even zavvi only charges GBP1 sending from england.

        • i have an android tablet with 2048 x 1536 lcd, it's the best quality i've seen so far for the price, if it was 640 x 480(which is more like a camera resolution not tablet resolution) scaled up it would look like mud!

    That's a total of 64GB. It's a bargain for a low $249.

How much the shipping cost to Sydney?

    • Australia Post eParcel - $8.75

    • Tempting for watching movies on the train commute

Reviews look pretty bad on Amazon

  • Only 1280 x 800, though expecting more at this price is a bit much.

    • That's HD, don't you think it's good enough?

      • Considering the specs, you wouldn't want any more pixels than that.

beware this is the Sony tablet S which is not the same as the Sony Tablet Xperia S

  • I've used this tablet and it's pretty laggy.

  • Has an IR blaster, about its only redeeming feature. If you could get a super lightweight ROM it would probably make a pretty cool universal remote.
