Is this a loan, lease or rent?

What exactly happens after 3 years if i decide to return it? Is their any fees or costs involved?

    • be careful this is a car dealership :P (though new car salespeople are far more reputable…). I would go over the T&C with a fine toothcomb…

      • I have dealt with their second hand department and was very happy with the service and the price I got for my car (apart from the pretty girl trying to squeeze more money out of me at the end while I was signing my contract, but I think this is an industry standard). Im not sure about their Nissan branch though.

      • Don't forget to claim your $50 test-drive-the-new-Nissan bonus if you go for this (yet to be determined) 'deal' - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/102313

        SALESMEN HAVE CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
if they only survive on commission
2nd hand salesmen are just more desperate to make a sale at all costs as their earnings may be less based on cost of vehicles.

ethics and morality in business is sometimes an oxymoron
        a win lose game.
legal drug salesmen corrupt doctors and control governments, just like mining salesmen or media murdochs.

marge simpson was an ethical real estate saleswoman once. only once.
        before she quit.

my dentist showed he was no better when he misrepresented his no gaps business, then confused us with half truths while he upsold us to an oral surgeon, then quoted even higher than the surgeon for routine checkups after the op, then admitted that he would add costs if he sent the dentures away to be done.

and he pretended to me that he was ethical and moral.
        when asked.

sales groups pretend to be professionals and will say that any rogues are the exception.

Abbotts and Hockeys will cut the throats of governments pretending to save consumers [citizens] money so they can overpay third rate businesses for the same services governments can no longer do.
then cripple NGOs and NPOs and their pitifully paid staff.

we are run by salesmen and they will sell their propoganda so that we can believe that public services are inefficient and businesses always better.
we do not see the 1000 cuts which a simple tax would have cost us less.

maybe our selfishness and wishfulfilment make us think that new car salesmen are '…far more reputable…'
unfortunately consumer surveys rate new and used car salesmen at the bottom of the pile with realestate agents, near prostitutes and politicians.
maybe prostitutes provide a needed service but we condemn them anyway with our hypocritical morality.

anyway public opinion has a way of being funnily correct.

        • What the f*#k you talkin' 'bout Willis?

    • Hi there, as stated on the description, there's no more to pay after the 3 years. So all you have to do is return the car and you owe absolutely nothing.

      • So basically for manual:

You pay $49 x 52 x 3 = $7644 for owing the car for 3 years, but you can only drive 15,000km each year.

        Any other clauses?

    • Yeah and what happens if there is minor damage (scuff marks, small dents), wear and tear etc.?

      • i would say insurance would not be covered.

      • Genuine wear and tear such as scuff marks are fine as it's understandable having had the car for 3 years but not scratches and broken windscreens etc.

  • site is getting ozb'd it appears.

  • Is this for Brisbane only?

    • Not for Brisbane only.

  • If it were Melbourne…

    • Yeah - if anyone sees something similar in VIC, I'd be very interested too…

  • what is their buyback price after the 3 years?

    • what is their buyback price after the 3 years?

      Nothing.

buy back on the vehicle in 3 years time, no more to pay.

Basically you return the car in 3 year time then walk away with nothing.

      Very risky thing.

You will have so many conditions like kms, normal wear and tear…blalala

Unless the rep can provide T&C in fine print
      Better give a miss

      Have a nice day

      • Hi theearth,

If you are interested in finding more about this offer, please contact us at the dealership. There are terms and conditions which our business manager would love to discuss with everyone. We understand that this sounds too good to be true, but it isn't!

  • So minimum over 3 years this car will cost you $7644. So how much will I have spent if the car is returned in good nic at 45000KM?

The deal needs more details to be considered a deal!

    • Hi kearnsy,

This is the general scenario, if you return the car at the end of the 3 years under or at the kms you agreed to you will have no out of pocket cost. Nissan guarantee the cost of your car. If you are interested in finding more about this offer, please contact us at the dealership.

  • Before you take this offer, read all the fine little wording (term and condition) before you get trap and pay a massive amount of money that you can buy your own car at the first place.

And if the brand new car cost $22000 and you drive for 10 years that equal to $43 per weeks, that even cheaper than above offer.

    • If you can't afford upfront, not a bad rental deal for private use?

      • good if you work requires you to have a car, than its tax deductible

    • if you have $22k lying around that is

    • Your calculation is flawed. You are assuming the vehicle has no value after 10 years. The vehicle will likely still be worth around 30% of it's value after 10 years, so it works out to just $30/week, not $43/week.

  • Rep, how about some more details…

Is this a rental, does it include servicing, is this a lease, maybe a link to T&Cs etc?

  • Can't find this info anywhere on your website rep, how can I request detailed T&C.
Is such a deal available only on this model?

  • +1

So this isn't cheap rental as you need to rent for 3 years. You can buy the car at the end for an undisclosed figure.

So much more info is required and this isn't a bargain.

    • Is comprehensive insurance included?
    • Is all servicing included?
    • How much is the car at the end of the rental period?
    • Buyback is a bad way of putting it because generally a guaranteed Buyback would imply that you are guaranteeing the value of the car in several years by offering that amount should they want to sell if back to you.
  • +1

What is the catch? No T&Cs!?

I had a quick search in Carsales.com.au - for a 3 years old Nissan Tiida (no Pulsars in 2010 but both are similar type of cars). Found only 2 cars in QLD that suites the criteria (manual, odo <45,000). Asking prices are $13,990 and $9,899. Note: both cars are dealer owned.

So The dealers will be getting around (atleast) $7,644 for the first 3 years + aprox $9,000 - $12,000 for reselling it. I'm pretty sure the purchase price of a brand new car will cost them more… my point is how the dealer will make the profit? Unless there is a catch… or they can resell it more than $12,000

IMHO (From a consumer's point of view) this is not a deal
I'd rathar get a decent car for ~$7000 (4-5 years old) and still able to resell this for $4-5k after 3 years… and yes I have done this before.

    • Hoping to catch suckers with dealer servicing?

  • never mind

  • +1

lol @ people comparing with old cars.

I would rather have a new car every year (or 3 in this case) for a little bit extra. Costs more upfront but if you're after an A to B car then this is a decent no-frills car for the price.

  • hey Rep I like the idea, but we need the terms and the conditions so we can work out the costs
    thanks

  • +6

    Would like to know:
who owns the car during the three years
    who pays the rego
    who pays the insurance
    who pays for servicing
    who pays for tyres
    who can/can't drive it
    can it be used commercially
where and when it must be serviced
costs of ending the agreement early
costs if you want to keep the car at the end

    • And how much beer in your "Nissan Free Beer for a Year" promotion!

    • +1

  • +3

I think if the rep can not reply with at least some of the T & C's, this is just advertising and should be moved to the forums or removed.

    • -1

agree, and depending on if it includes rego/insurance and break contract clauses, this can significantly alter the value proposition so i'm going to neg this deal until shown otherwise

  • +4

I've called them to find out more, it's basically a finance / hire purchase offer with a guaranteed value at the end of the 3 year period, that value being $14,999.

At the end of the 3 years, you have three options - hand the car back, trade it in for $14,999 on something else or pay the $14,999 balloon payment and you then own it.

Purchaser wears all ongoing costs, including servicing every 6 months or 10,000 k's. It's also apparently a standard current offer so if anyone is interested, you should be able to get the same offer from any Nissan dealer.

    • Just realised I must have made an error here, the trade in option obviously works differently to what I've said above but oddly I'm sure that's what I was told on the phone, must not have been listening carefully enough at the time.

He did say it could be traded in on another vehicle and I'm fairly certain he said for that same amount but either he explained it wrong or I heard it wrong.

  • In the USA earlier this year, I saw brand-new Sonatas being offered for $78 per MONTH (i.e. $18 per week). Much better value. Only catch - $6k due up front.

  • Great car if you wanna do Mainies!

  • are these cars good to drift?

    • Not from the reviews I've read, apparently the handling is quite doughy and I'm fairly sure being FWD would make it pretty much impossible ;)

  • if this is hire purchase then a bank loan may be at better rate?

  • Does it cover servicing costs? Nissan cars seem cheap but what a lot of people don't realise is they have very expensive servicing costs. It is even more expensive to maintain a 13k Micra than it is a 40k VW Golf. And the Pulsar's servicing is even more expensive than the Micra.

  • Not bad if they cover servicing costs.

Just get a car for 49 p/w and trash the crap out of it - red line revving etc etc.

See how it sells in 3 years time eh?

    • how about just buy it, dont service it, treat it as a rental car and hand it back after three years.

  • Hi Everyone,

    • Or you could just answer peoples questions ie like servicing

    • Jay…..please can you leave your standard response out and answer the questions asked here….questions being answered here may be of interest to many people yet if an individual has to call you …then only that individual has the answer…..unless you have some T&Cs that you are not willing to divulge..

  • Happy to do that guys,

In short, cost of ownership is not included in the price per week. It is purely the cost of the car - The idea is so that at the end of the 3 years you can sell the car back to Nissan with zero negative equity. For more information please call me, I am happy to answer as many questions as I can - However as state in the previous comments: We are doing this for additional business & marketing. Not to help out your local dealers - I'm sure you can appreciate that.

So is this a bargain or just advertising?

    • How can you sell a lease car back to the dealer? You return a lease car or you trade in a car that you've bought.

Don't lie, don't try and bend truths because all that does is make you look untrustworthy. Or if your happy to stand by your offer then I'll lease a car for 3 years and when I sell it back to you all I want is $8,000 for it.

Also your referring to negative equity, while a car loan has negative equity a lease doesn't require a loan therefore equity doesn't come in to play since the person leasing the car has ownership of the car.

(I appolagise for my rant, salesmen send me loopy).

  • +2

    rekabkram,

I understand your frustration so I'll try and make this as clear as I can. This is not a lease. It is not salary sacrifice. It is a loan. To make this a little shorter and more direct; This is why you should choose the Pulsar GFV programme:

    1. 2.9% Loan over 3 years;
    2. The price of the car has been discounted to $20,990 for the Manual ST Model (Only $1000 more than what you would pay cash for it - Normally for finance campaign rates you pay retail for the car);
    3. Essanda has calculated that the average person keeps has their car loan for just under 3 years - At the end of our 3 year loan Nissan guarantee that the car is worth the balloon figure at the end of the loan. Which therefore allows you to switch cars with no negative equity.

And for those worried about costs of servicing and other costs of ownership - The car comes with 6yr price capped servicing and you can find the schedule with pricing on the Nissan website (or just google it "nissan pulsar servicing").

    • FINALLY!!! Thank you for a far more direct answer, that is the first time in any post from either yourself or your associate that loan has been said and a rate been given.

It would have really helped if that was said from the get go.

      • Sorry guys! Now if anyone is interested in finding out more information PLEASE email me or call me!

      • So, why would someone loan a car when you can simply lease one?

        • +2

Alright guys my business manager and I sat down and compared some figures, here are 5 reasons why you should go for the GFV over a lease:

          1) Ownership of the car - The car is in your name and payments go to your credit history;
          2) Rego & CTP is cheaper;
          3) Comprehensive insurance is cheaper;
          4) The GFV Programme is at 2.9% over 3 years - Lease will be usually 2 digit interest rate over 3 years;
          5) Lease over 3 years Maximum 50% Residual - Nissan GFV 3 years 71% Residual - NO NEGATIVE!

This is even cheaper than taking the car over 0% (Assuming that you sell the car for retail or close to retail).

        • I imagine these deals only work out better if there's manufacturer/importer support. Certainly looks like a great deal if you wanted that exact model. At least for personal shoppers who would not be able to write much if anything off for business purposes.
