    $79 shipping…

    • Possibly the most expensive ShippingSquare shipping cost I've ever seen!

  • didn't notice that, sorry :)

  • -2

again, $79 rip-off shipping have to be added to the total price..

it is cheaper to deliver an elephant than this :p

    • anyone seen a bargain for an elephant? preferably a baby one ;)

    • Ahem..make it a baby elephant ;-)
Anyway, it says something about Linux, and Windows XP, both at the same time.
      Can someone please confirm?
      Cheers,

      • You can either boot into Windows or Linux (light weight distro for quick boot).

Personally I would remove both and put Mac OS X on it, but hey that's me.

      • Expressgate is Asus' lightweight Linux Based OS.. has limited functionality.
Presumably, the EeeBox comes preinstalled with Expressgate and XP (hence both Linux and XP).
You must press a special switch or choose which OS to boot from a menu on startup.

    • Here's an idea when posting a so called "bargain" how about quoting the total price including shipping when practical. So it's well known here at Ozbargain that Shopping Square's shipping price it stupidly high, then quote the delivered price in the title.

      • Geez Im so sorry, this was my first attempt at posting something, Next time I won't even bother…

        • Don't be discouraged from posting again Pinky.
SSQ have earned a reputation for exorbitant shipping costs.

Keep your head up pinktasha - most of us don't bite and we appreciate your effort.

  • +2

It was a great 1st effort.
Usually a mod amends to include shipping.

We need to hit up danilochan for a ShoppingSquare shipping coupon!

    • Seconded on both points.

Not much of a bargain with shipping.

Whoo hoo! oh… hang on…Shipping makes it a huge FAIL!

I have been looking to get one of these for my daughter's schoolwork and I was going to grab one of those 16in monitors too.

$79 for the shipping?!?!?! By what? Personal Lear jet? Naked celebrities?

I can't understand why this Shoppingsquare guy rorts so hard with the shipping. It's directly NOT making me buy something I want and only adds to a cruddy reputation from what would otherwise be regarded as a good company.

People react badly to the sense that they are being ripped off. It's gives me the same feeling on Ebay when I see the profits obviously transferred over to the shipping charges…"oh dodgy seller" I think to myself.

A good reputation takes time to build.
Word travels fast when you're shonky.
This company is shooting themselves in the foot twice. They are losing sales (mine) and hurting their ongoing reputation.

Oh, BTW kudos to you pinktasha for posting.

It looks great at first and I'm sure you had the best of intentions. :)

  • yet another shopping square fail…

Nice product, pity about the unreasonable freight charges. On balance this has to be a negative for near-deceptive pricing structure. Sorry for the poster.

I think the deal isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Considering the cheapest on staticice.com is $395 for the box alone not including shipping and the fact that you get a VW16D with this deal, you are essentially paying less than $390 for the eee PC including delivery.

    It IS a bargain guys.

    A positive from me.
