Just got email from scoopon.

Looks pretty good price but I'm still waiting for gigabit modem.

If anyone needs to upgrade adsl modem, it's good chance to get one.

Won't neg cuz it is a good price for the model. But horrible router by the sounds of things :/

    • oooooh I was nearly gonna pounce on this.. Think I'll pass now. Any cheap alternatives?

Only costs $52 from CPL and other stores.

        • Cheers man, that's what I'm after. Is the lack of IPv6 support going to be an issue?

        • I wouldn't recommend this one from my experience. Intermittant wireless dropouts and modem freezes. Good for entry level 5 devices at most modem router (or as a backup modem router).

You are better off investing in a more stable modem router like the Asus DSL-N55U OR Billion 7800N

    • Depends on needs and whether or not you'll be a power user seeking to customise advanced preferences.

I researched wireless modem/routers, and on popular advice went with a Billion 7800N. Nothing but interference and issues - no matter what firmware version, what settings were changed with regards to channels etc. - everything failed to fix the abysmal wifi stability. I was getting regular dropouts at a distance of 2 metres with no objects breaking line of sight. Complete waste of time and money.

Replaced with this Belkin model instead - working solidly with no dramas at all.

  • From picture looks like only a wireless router, the port marked with Modem is a Ethernet port.

    • This model is also an ADSL2+ Modem.

  • Thanks for me OP! It was exactly what I was after - usually the stuff on ozbargain is things I didn't know I needed until I see it here!

  • Bugger - it seems to have old-style 100Mbps ethernet ports. And its CoTD. No thanks.
