  • I'm seriously interested in this, however I don't really know much about tablets, the closest I have come to is just with my android phone (running 2.3.* I believe). The Good Guys have a Blackberry tablet on clearance at the moment for $224 for both the 16gb and 32gb version, however I don't know if it's worth the extra money, even if it is double the storage size, plus it's not Google related where as this one is. :S I don't know what to do!
I mainly need it for a model release app so it's easier than having paper forms, plus the occasional game or two :P

    • I have the nexus and a have had a couple others (Samsung, Freelander) the Nexus is my favourite, it's smooth, well designed and works with almost everything, except the Woolworths app for some strange reason.

    • +3

This is the best tablet you can get for the form. Been using it for 3-4 months now to read, surf the net and play the occasional game, and it has been a fantastic experience. Definitely worth the extra money without the headaches other tablets will cause.

    • Yeah definitely don't buy a Blackberry tablet.

I've waiting for these to come lower for present for my two boys…..ermmmmmmm do I take the plunge now or wait.

    • The new one is on the starting blocks - it was expected at GoogleIO but they decided to hold off. Current rumours say early June announcement, early July delivery (same as last year) but they play things close. Fast processor, fullHD screen, more memory - same price seems the shape of it.

Up to you if you wait, but once the new one is announced, the old will be on sale (which is what this maybe).

It was $179 at the Good Guys about a week ago

    • -2

Actually, The Good Guys had the 32GB version for $207 a week ago as well, but I would assume shipping would of been $10. Still a great price, was going to put it on Oz but got caught up.

      • +1

What does would of been mean?

        • Would of been meaning depending on where you live could be more or less but it's based off memory.

      • -1

Shipping was $50 if bought on The Good Guys site,
Or $2 if bought through their ebay account.

I think most just price matched at Officeworks anyway

I think DSE have the same one on clearance for $149. But be quick - pick-up only and only limited stock in Sydney, Perth and Tassie (and maybe some regional areas).
Go to the Dick Smith site and search for Nexus 7.

      would OW price match?

      • -1

        I thought OW doesn't sell 16GB anymore

        • -1

          Yep, only the 32GB

    • my god that website is terrible. so much going on on the one page.

    • Thanks.

  • Just Clicked and Collected one in Karrinyup WA! Been humming and hahing and need something for my two year old to watch movies in the car!

Nice one OP too for the Bing Lee Post

    • Don't forget to get one of those OTG cables and you can install an app (can't remember the name of it sorry) which will allow you to put movies onto a USB stick.

      • Hi can you recommend OTG cable that would work with this? sounds like you have bought one. Maybe from eBay or something. Please link one? thanks

Dick Smith Usual Click and Collect BS!

No Stock sorry, but you can have the Demo unit!!!

I think it's time to permanently boycott Dick Smith.

        • Lol.. I was regretting that I didn't order when it was available for click and collect at innaloo store. After you posted, the stock became low and unavailable.

I had to drive to ellenbrook to get one. He he got a brand new.

  • +3

Just a heads up… a new one will be coming out (rumors very strongly suggest with evidence, Google it) with around the same price tag and a full HD screen. That's a higher PPI than the Retina iPad. I probably wouldn't buy this… the reason it's so cheap is probably because Bing Lee know they'll have to shift the stock and are starting early.

    • Are you absoluately sure it will be the SAME PRICE tag. Because it will be surely over $300 if not $350 just like when Nexus 7 was out!

    • The ones which are on sale are Asus stock. Any warranty goes back to Asus, instead of Google.

As for the next gen Nexus 7 having 1080p display while retaining the same RRP, that's most likely the case. Obviously, RRP is higher than the discounted price.

I don't think there is much perceivable benefit in going over 1280x800 pixels on a 7" tablet. Would rather my money went into a better cpu/gpu, networking, camera.

      • Or battery.

  • None left in Melbourne city or anywhere west. All on hold or crap displays.

    • -1

Got a couple in Melbourne. Saw this deal early in the morning but didn't post as there was very very limited new stock.

  • -1

    Is this the 3g model?

    • No. Wifi only

  • +2

Noooo I have 4 tablets already.. But this is cheap and I dont have any 7 inch ones.. Help!!

    • Tell you what i have bought so far, 4 zte my tabs, 1 7" toshiba thrive, 1 ipad 3, 3 ipad 4, 1 galaxy tab 7.7", and 1 ipod 4th gen. ended up giving all of them away (brand new) and keep only 2 ipads, 1 galaxy tab 7.7 and 1 ipod. I am still tempted to buy 1 nexus 7 at this price. Just give away or ebay those you don't want and keep what you want.

    • Lol

  • -6

    I've got a 7inch for you. bazingaaaaa!

  • anyone know if click and collect is instant?

    • It depends how long it takes the staff to pick the item off the shelf and then confirm the order. They say this can take up to 2 hours from the time you place your order.
