        is that sarcasm ? cause most people in the US pay sales tax around 10% too.

        If any half-plausible reason for higher prices than USA is going to be used it should be the wage / earning power one.

        edit: nvm, misinterpreted that. Yes he's correct, in the USA (unlike here) they have to pay sales tax as an extra when purchasing while in Aus usually the tax is already included in the price.

          The US price does not include sales tax, while the Australian price does, so we actually get it slightly cheaper.

          Last time I checked, US buyers can pay -NO- sales tax, if they buy online from a company that has -no- stores in the buyer's state.

          good point, completely forgot that sales tax is state only and not federal.
          Whenever I'm in the States I don't do any online shopping so it didn't occur to me naturally. Probably had it confused with Canada which has both state and federal sales tax.
