  • How good is its night vision?

    • It's actually pretty good even in very low lighting. Have to mention here that a very good (read fast) Internet connection is a must.

  • +1

I bought this recently and the wireless receiver stopped functioning and the video quality was rubbish…, reading support PLENTY of issues and very few solutions, this model had firmware updates that fixed nothing, I had it on 24/7 for about 3 weeks…, got a refund !

My advise: Don't buy this crap, even the Tenvis iprobot3 has never given me such a headache…

    • So what do you recommend instead?

      • +1

any wifi IP camera off eBay does a better job that this overpriced piece of sh*t !

        From China

        From Sydney

        • Those cameras are crap. They're only VGA. And the second one has software which won't run under Win7 64 bit.

        • +1

the software will run, this D-Link is also VGA, but seems more like a distorted analogue tv channel that needs tuning, I don't know if you are trolling but I am serious about my advise and not investing in this crap…

These started at $169, later fell to $139, then $99, now about $60, thought I'd grab it and see if its really any good…

Read the 158 amazon reviews about this D-Link and judge for yourself

        • I'm not trolling. It does seem like the iprobot3 cams are the best ptz with better than VGA. Might have to try one.

My gripe with VGA is it is so hard to pick out features on people unless they come real close to the camera. The CCTV cameras where I work are particularly shocking.

BTW, the second review of the link you posted is particularly damning. Def wont be getting one of these D-Links.

        • iprobot3 FTW !

I just read a few of the Amazon reviews some of which were SPOT ON, the exact same issues i faced from day one…, its shocking to see how D-Link has still neglected this device and had charged people about $169 in the days when the iprobot2 was about $100…

      • FOSCAM is the best (IMO)

    • You also got DCS-932L? I notice D-link's cameras tend to look similar although they have different specs.

      • yes 932L will never forget it ever…, I tried flashing firmwares hard resets and what not just to get its wifi capability working again, once the wifi drops out I'd suggest either living with the hardwired option or throwing it in the bin…

    • Yo Elijah - about a month or so ago I would absolutely agree with you on the problems with the DLink Cloud Cameras. However, as of the recent Firmware update to both my 930L's (the lower model that I got BOGOF)and the recent upgrade to the Android App, I can confirm 100% that it is now working properly. Thats WIFI, 3G (from all three different networks) etc. I can only guess that the 932L's are very much the same but with the extra IR LEDs for night modes.

Too bad the top end models (with the motorised movements) are so damn expensive or else I'd upgrade to those instead.

Actually might buy one to put downstairs for night shots.

      • Wifi issue - 8th May 2013…, once the wifi drop outs start, there are only 2 ways it appears to pan out, one either wifi will never work again(my case), or two it constantly drops out…, version v1.06 is the latest firmware available for the 932L…

If anyone does buy this I really hope you don't come across this issue, just remember to hold on to your receipt and mark my words… :)

        • Just checked the DLink site and interestingly the 932L is still on 1.06 whilst the 930L is on 1.08. 1.06 was the problem firmware for me as well but was fixed on 1.08. That sucks..

        • and bchliu people are still buy this off clearance shelves and facing the same never ending issue…, just read a few Amazon reviews i posted above…, you may have to change it to chronological order to see when the issue hits the customer and their positive review turns negative… lol

  • reviews seem good…might grab one to see what my dogs get up to while I am out…hah

    • here's your evidence, hit and miss with this overpriced crap, I had paid $99 and provided the same quality of a $40-50 cheap wifi IP camera off eBay…

      Issues

      • From what I can see the night vision/wifi is what makes it good?

Video quality does look average in this youtube video

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIdQuNd6zVM

        • Plenty of IP cameras on eBay can do night vision using infrared and wifi its almost a standard at these prices…, do not pay $60 for this !

        • One of the biggest problems with these cameras though, is connectivity to them from outside the Internet when you arent home. Yes, not that DLink is any better (at least for the 932L), but the concept of connecting into the cloud through a secure method and then into your cameras directly seems better than opening up ports / NATing on your home firewall to map back to your cameras (unless you have some type of VPN setup).
That was actually one of my biggest concerns initially when doing cameras at home.

    • I have several EasyN (ebay for it) cameras for this. I paid about fifty bucks but they are wired and wireless, and are motorised and can be controlled via its built-in webserver, which I port-forward out of my home network.

Same deal with the infrared nightvision etc.

      • Also got a ~$50 EasyN. The novelty of the remote control motor wore off after a while, then the novelty of an IP camera followed. Now it keeps watch over my OzBargain cupboard. From the inside of its box. Unpowered. :-(
But I now know how to configure port forwarding and dynamic DNS in my router, through our short relationship, for which I am thankful.

  • any webcam you have lying around + LogMeIn can do the trick for the budget conscience

    • That assumes most people leave their PC's on all day and night. Not really "budget conscience" in that perspective.

  • dickie is doing 60 delivered

  • +1

I have this ip camera and another model which is 942L. I recommend you not to buy consumer d-link ip camera. It is not easy to setup and their setup wizard is completely gone wrong many times, but have no idea the prosumer one. The quality is not as good as its price. The quality of video capturing in the night time is awful. The image is grainy and noise. It looks like the low quality of web camera at 0.3 megapixel display.

  • Waiting for Flingshot rep to come in with sub $40 price + free shipping…

    I can dream right?

  • Reluctant to really wanna shell out * 720p ver. in a few months time, so just might play the waiting game, per normal. Although, model with the sample demonstration video Merimobiles.com, still look very reasonable at this juncture.

Saved page * merimobiles, & needless to say but would be considering D-Link under no circamstances now .. ~d Link to the trash, now rather. Thanks.

    • Umm. What ?

    • Burp..Umm
Next device must as no.1 1ST exceed my existing 720p-quality [keychain] cam. Firm.

Common brands will sell off their rubbish in the meantime.

  • Bought a couple of these last night. Set it up, all working fine. Using Ethernet for a couple of reasons:

    • Uses up premium wifi bandwidth
    • Wifi dropouts and reliability issues

For $58, I'm pretty happy for the value of them. I'm sure there are better ones on the market, but for $58, it's hard to beat.
