Numatic Henry NRV200-22 1200W Vacuum Cleaners - $179 AUD @ TheHut

410

I bought 2 of these so far, the commercial version for myself and the pink one (Hetty) for my mother.

The difference between the commercial version is that you can leave it on high or low and it always starts on the setting that you left it on last whereas the other versions always start on low. Also if you look at the base of the commercial version it has a slightly wider wheel base for stability and a curved skirt so it can be dragged around corners and doorways etc without falling over or getting caught. It also has a 2.5m longer cord

The commercial one also comes with stainless steel tubes and a Numatic A1 accessory kit (I don't recall if the pink one did)

They use hepaflo bags to catch dust and other particles, thats the same material used for bags that are used for asbestos removal. With a little looking around you can get genuine Numatic hepaflo bags for around $30 for 20 (about $1.50ea) delivered from UK eBay stores.

These vacuums have been around since the 80s in the UK where they are very popular, often cleaners and janitors will use them for 8+ hours a day for over 10 years without missing a beat. And the vacuums are also fully user serviceable which means if the brushes or cord winder wears out you can buy a replacement and easily fix it yourself for very cheap. Numatic still have spare parts for the original models and claim that they will always sell spares for every model indefinitely.

One thing to note is that you will need a UK to AU power adaptor, I bought a HPM plug end and put it on myself but if you don't know what you are doing then just use a adaptor.

These are sold at Godfreys for $469 and often seen on ebay for $350-500.

I am very pleased with mine and its the strongest vacuum I have ever used, the same for the one I bought for my mother. I am very tempted to buy another for myself but I can not see the point in having 2 in my apartment.

Also delivery is free (may be 0.99GBP) and its amazing that they can send them over here for so little. It took about 9 days from ordering to delivery from memory.

I bought one in December and one in January (found on OzB) when they were 99GBP and they have been sold out ever since until the last few days, I assume they will sell very fast again. There may be a voucher to lower the price (10 off 100+ or something) but its still a steal at this price as shipping alone would usually be the dealbreaker.

$179 using google exchange rates, the price may vary from different credit card issuers and PayPal.

Usually I wouldn't write so much for a deal on here but I believe these are truly unbeatable for the price.

    He's a sucker.

    • Now I know the reason for the smiley face.

    • haha love it! :D

  • Is there any reason not to get the commercial one?

Why is the rrp of the commercial one lower than Henry and Hetty?

  • As OP says: there's a reason all the cleaning firms in the UK use these, they're great performing and dependable. Good bargain

    The Hahahahahut.

  • Wish I needed a new vac, this one sounds great

    • Thats the mark of a great Ozbargain bargain…..that you wish you needed one but don't.

  • Great detail in this post, very convincing. Looks like a brilliant price too. I would buy one if I needed a new vacuum, even if it's a bit ugly.

These are old school, using a bag.

I wonder how these compare to Dyson's.

  • @Josh81: they are near indestructible. Dyson would die in a day from the wear and tear cleaning folks put their vacuums through.

  • Thanks! Ordered. Used these in UK years ago and concur with OP's opinion. Great unit and a steal at this price.

  • I bought mine from zavvi a few months ago for $150 AUD delivered. I was contemplating about getting a dyson(already own a handheld one) but they were too pricey. Besides, those who have lived in the UK before know about numatic and what great hoovers they are!

Our work has about 8 of these. School kids use them each day, many different brands have been used over the years and they last 1-3 years inc. dyson. Abuse on the machines is incredible, only this brand has survived, so we've just kept buying more as the place gets larger. Highly recommended.

Are these better than Dyson Vacuum cleaners?

Why should i buy this one?

    • I find there're others much better than Dyson. Dyson is very popular due to their strong marketing and colours.
I have 2 Dysons myself. Both suffer the same stinky air coming out from the drum.

I always wonder why vaccuum cleaner specialty stores don't usually have Dyson.

    • Get a Kirby or a Rainbow. Dysons are overpriced

  • I'm still deciding how this one is compared to Miele?

    • I guess it would depend on which Miele you would be comparing it to but generally Miele are expensive and I don't have any experiance with them myself to say one or the other is better.

Also for months I have been considering buying one of these turbo heads:

But at nearly $50 shipped for the cheapest one I can find on eBay I'll hold off until I find one really cheap as it does a great job on the carpet without it and I don't have pets anyway.

    • While you are deciding the red one just sold out.
      Better make a fast decision

  • These are very big in the UK one if the best you can buy, on the same par as Dysons.

Wow, we used to have these vacuum cleaners in boarding school and I thought they were cheap goods from Kmart or something. Didn't know they were on par with Dyson.

Reminds me of that Noo Noo thing from the Teletubbies.

  • Red is out of stock!

  • Great deal, we have Charles at work (blue commercial one) and he is awesome, pity I don't need a vacuum at home cos I would buy one

FYI. When I was working in London and I stayed back late in the office. I noticed a couple of the cleaners used these vacs… At least it looked like these with the smiley face on it… I was in that office for about 6 months and they used the same vacs that whole time. I've already got 2 vacs so I don't need another… Just my 2 cents.

  • How do you get 0.99GBP shipping? I'm seeing £11.99

    • Just via normal checkout, the 11.99 was for express or something and you have a option to choose.

Seems to be all sold out now.

      • Weird, doesn't me choose I still have one in checkout process:
International Tracked - Track your order during delivery, orders over 2kg in weight will automatically select tracked delivery. If you have selected multiple items below 2kg and wish to select standard delivery please order separately. - £11.99

        • Just tried with another different vacuum and say its 11.99 now too, I wouldn't be surprised if they just change it due to Aus buyers on this deal right now as its a very big box.

I did actually check it after making the first post and it was only 0.99 pounds then.

Can any buyers confirm they got it for 0.99 pounds postage?

Mighty OzB…… cleaned the cleaners up in five hours~

  • Bought one of these on the last deal - can honestly say I don't think I would ever choose any other brand again. They're excellent.

    • Same, I nearly bought another so I'd have a spare but I can't imagine mine ever breaking anyway and if it did spare parts are cheap.

  • Random fact:

They use this model in all Red Cross Charity Shops across the world…well okay, the two I volunteered in, one in England, one in Australia, but still.

  • Would there be any Customs charges on arrival?

    • +1

No, you don't pay customs on anything unless its over $1000 purchases.

  • Can someone who has received there vac - the red commercial model tell me the full model number?
