Around $567 + assembly going off MSY's price list (they don't stock Team RAM). Pretty solid bargain, just not sure about the PSU.

Beat me to it. Nice list.

Budget Pc had it for $559 over here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/105898

It had a better motherboard (asus) and better psu (ocz)

Still good deal. Add that 670 that's on special for $299 (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/106397) and you have a solid system (or a HD 7870/7950)

      • +8

Pretty sure the B85 is not as good a board as the H87 though ASUS is a bigger brand name than AsRock.
H87 is basically a Z87 minus overclocking features. B85 is a cheap business option.

        • +8

          Oops. Sorry reps.

I was wrong, This deal has the better motherboard by far due to the better chipset etc. Asrock is a solid brand. I made the mistake of thinking this had the B85 as well.

  • +2

I probably wouldn't want to be running a 670 on that PSU, might handle it, I could be wrong though.

EDIT: This is meant to be as a reply to fryandlaurie

    • You're absolutely right. That went over my head. Maybe if it was a better brand but with this brand I wouldn't take chances.

      • +2

While some may be skeptical about AEROCool, we've had them for approx 1 year now and so far the DOA rates are as low as those of Thermaltake, Coolermaster, Antec and Corsair. While this one in particular is not 80 PLUS rated, it is a true 450W not a rubbish generic.

        • Any chance for a deal with a PSU upgrade?

        • At the moment we're unable to provide upgrade options on this deal as it really is at a very cheap price. Delivery for this product has also been made quite cheap, adding/upgrading parts will in some cases will affect this.

        • While some may be skeptical about AEROCool, we've had them for approx 1 year now and so far the DOA rates are as low as those of

What about warranty returns after 1 year of use?

        • Too early to tell, but so far, warranty rates are about the same as industry standard for non-generic PSUs (under 1%)

        • Well that doesn't make much sense as Thermaltake's generally have higher DOA rates then the other brands you have mentioned.

        • Guess we've been lucky with our Thermaltake stock then. So next time you want a thermaltake product, try us!

        • +1

If your company could do an upgrade option for the PSU, I'll put an order in right away.

        • @cplonline, I don't think he means a free upgrade, I think he means add an option to pay an extra $20 or something and get a better PSU.

        • mgowen is correct. I was not asking for a free upgrade for the parts. I would like to get this system and bundle it with the 670 that was posted here earlier. However, the PSU for the CPL system is inadequate for my needs.

I would like to have the option to replace the PSU to a more suitable PSU option at an additional cost. I'm sorry if I didn't clear things up earlier.

  • wish they have upgrade option like budgetpc

  • Good price. Do you still charge 2% for PayPal?

    • Yes, at the moment we still have a 2% PayPal surcharge.

    • PayPal gets the 2% not CPL

  • +17

+1 for CPL coming back to OZB after the last time when our delightful 'what about me' members shamelessly negged the deal after the limited units were sold out.

  • +1

    Pretty Solid deal

Also I should mention personally I'm very happy with Rep and his/her sales team.
After last week's drama, I sent an email to the CPL sales team and they honoured the deal by creating a seperate order for me at that bargain price…

Keep up the good work CPL

    • +3

Thank you! We are still waiting on a few more people who claimed to have missed out (and left a comment on the deal) to get back to us with details so if you're one of those 10-15, please check your e-mails and reply to us if you're still interested.

      • Mine arrived today - good work, folks.

  • What's power consumption for desktop haswell chips like?

    • +2
      • Thanks CPL, I'm not sure max consumption is the same as average consumption.
It seems like the Haswell notebook chips are a lot more power efficient.

In any case, thanks for the deal, hopefully you guys will post more!

    • +2

It isn't much better than ivy. I'd focus more on matching your psu efficiency with how much power you'll be using with your computer… that'll give you bigger savings.

      • Thanks, I see, I haven't bought a desktop in ages, haven't looked into PSU efficiency before.

  • Added up all the parts costs if you brought them from CPL to be $600.
How do you manage to make them this cheap? Serious question.

    • +1

My guess would be that they buy their parts at wholesale prices and then sell them to the public at retail prices.

  • +4

That's why it's a bargain! $500 for a 4th Gen Intel system suitable for most home users and office use with capacity to upgrade later if needed! Can't get much better than this!

Can I install the GTX670 (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/106397) on this PC?

    • I'm sure we along with most of the users here would suggest a bigger PSU (as commented on above) if you were intending on putting a GTX670 inside this machine.
https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX670DC2OG2GD5/#specifi… states max power consumption to be 225W.

    • Yes can it also support the HD7970? in terms of power and slots?

      • Read the above. Same applies.

      • +1

my 7970 draws about 170watts (+about 8% from my psu efficiency)and thats fully oc'd at 1160mhz with the voltage cranked. 450w is fine, granted it has good 12v rails and doesn't overheat.

  • the site seems to be down?

    • Good news: Website back online!

  • The price is showing $525 instead of $500

    Haswell Special (Code 09)
    Available: YES
    Regular Price: $645.00
    Special Price: $525.00

    • Fixed! Sorry.

  • +1

Great PC… The new Intel graphics are quiet impressive for now… however if you want a new GTX 770 for example its 650w minimum psu…. If anyone was planning to ask. Epic price thou and very impressive!

    • Epic price thou! May thy coffers fill with gold and maidens sing thy graces, CPL!

  • So gathering from first/2nd post, this machine would be better if it had better PSU?

I have currently an old nvidia gt 230, will that support too?

  • +3

Good price, though I would want to change some parts around for a bit extra.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but all the desktop i5 processors except for the 4570T don't supports hyper-threading?

If this is true, then might be better off spending a little more and going for an i7.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haswell_(microarchitecture)

    • +2

i5's dont have HT, i7's do. Correct.

If you're gaming, HT does little to nothing but add extra heat.

Unless you're planning on using it for productivity or quad-SLI/quadfire.. then put that money into a better gpu instead.

Would this work with the GTX 670 deal that's going on at the moment along with last week's Plextor SSD?

    • Please check comments above.

      • +1

Why neg the rep? Its posted like 3 times already. People just ask stuff and don't bother reading to see if its already been asked.

  • Are you able to provide a higher end ~$1000 build in the future, that is all-round more powerful (e.g. graphics)?

    • +2

We can do that if it is what people want. Perhaps people could leave suggestions on what products they'd like to see? i5/i7, motherboard, ssd?, graphics card? We could take the suggestions we get and try and put something together for around $1k.

      • +1

A gaming rig based on the Haswell chips would be ideal. I've been meaning to upgrade for a few months but have been waiting on the new chips. Please do a deal for mid-range gaming, please.

      • +1

http://www.logicalincrements.com/ this should provide you a good platform to determine what an ideal system would be like.

      • +1

I'd like to see a build with an i7, SSD and decent graphics card.

      • Me too, also waiting for a mid-gaming rig to upgrade!
Haswell, i5 should be adequate for gaming?
        120gb SSD min bootable drive
        options for high-end GPUs

Thanks asap, gaming addiction has been put on hold due to a 5 year old comp and its not holding very well!

        • Don't get caught up with specs. Gaming is 20% cpu, 80% gpu. Hyperthreading is only useful when programs actually utilise it… games just don't. If you want it to perform in games, get the unlocked cpu and clock the dickens out of it to 5ghz until it melts. No point getting a slower 8thread for more money. Clock speed >>> threads at the moment with games.

edit: I know it makes you feel all warm and gooey inside knowing you have the latest and greatest i7, but…just don't… an i5 will usually clock higher given the same temps just beacuse HT is diabled, games will love this more

      • +7

Thank you for everyone's suggestions and comments. I've put them all together and hopefully in the next week or two we'll have something to shock and awe you with in a mid-ranged gaming build.

        • +1

          unlocked i5 and a 7950/gtx 660 would be good

        • Looking forward to it. Would be great also if there are upgrade options for parts. Thanks, Rep!

        • -2

Don't need anymore gaming. This will play most games perfectly. Just need the OP deal back in a week with may be a 2/3TB.

  • +12

Great deal! I don't need it personally but I think your webserver needs a new Haswell.

  • Motherboard Asrock H87M-Pro4
    CPU Intel i5-4570
    RAM 8GB Kit 1600 Kingston
    SSD Plextor 128GB
    HDD WD Blue 1TB
    GPU 1GB Asus 7850
    ODD SATA DVD/RW LiteOn
    CASE Antec 302
    PSU Antex HCG 520W

Something like that for gaming build?

I, like many bought the SSD and GPU already from MSY special deal. Can you do the rest of the build for $600?

  • +3

+1 For mid-range gaming, but I'd suggest to have an option to further customise, like leave out the SSD and Graphics, and have an optional upgrade for RAM and CPU so people can choose to add their own if they wished.

If you guys had a deal where people could customise their own, I'd be right on it :)
    just a suggestion

    • +1

I guess the whole reason for it to be cheap was a bulk setup with bulk parts.
Reason budgetPC can I'm sure had a higher than normal 'cheap' price when doing options, but still better than a rigid rig!

  • +2

Can you do this deal again? I missed it :(
Pretty sure I wont spend the extra $50 now.

  • +2

Great to see CPL doing promotional sales!

  • +3

I missed it. I'd buy it at $500.

    • What a promotion, reduce the price after it's hit the frontpage?! =o

  • -1

CPL in this future $1000 build an i7 would be good. All these "experts" here say quad core is not faster when gaming, but it is when you are running bit-torrent, anti-virus, email and whatever else in the background….

    • But 4570 is quad core already….

      • I7 just has hyper threading

  • Pretty good deal.
