Pasta Machine with Detachable Blades $9.99 at Aldi This Wed

80

Heavy duty construction Pasta Machine with colour painted body
Includes 2 detachable blades and bench clamp

Have posted this offer previously. We've had the machine for a couple of years and it gets used regularly. Kids love making pasta and encourages them to eat.

We also purchased the Pizza stone set $7.99 (not bad), but don't use it as we got a pizza machine for Christmas http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_27129.htm

Have read good things about the Ravioli Cutters $4.99 http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_27125.htm

  • I imagine the quality of this would be quite reasonable, given that crofton's other offerings are all pretty substantial.

Great price, when you compare it to the Marcato pricing.

Sadly it is not as good as Marcato.
They might look the same, but are worlds apart when it comes to using them.
It might be OK for someone who makes pasta once in a blue moon, providing they get a good copy.

      • That's a shame - I find even my Marcato not to be fabulously made - it does the trick but the alloy from which it is made is reasonably poor quality.

      • Yes, I didn't get a good copy first purchase of this from Aldi. Roller didn't turn. However, have to say there were no issues in returning with offer of either money back or replacement. Agree with rest of your comment too.

we did get one from last time, and ended up replacing it with Marcato.

We have one, it is pretty good, the issue is I find the handle doesn't click in and drops out too easily. Otherwise they are a great buy if you're interested.

  • I bought one ages ago & returned it soon after.
It might look like Marcato Atlas, but the quality is just not there.
Our example was very poorly made, the machine oil was seeping into pasta (along with some metal shavings), the main roller had very rough finish - past would stick to it, regardless of consistency.
I returned it & bought Marcato Atlas on special for about $50 - much better machine, no issues at all.
I would not recommend this product.

    • Agree with Flyeroz assesment, we bought a couple and had the same experience. They are really poorly made.

      • It's possible quality control is not the greatest - I now remember opening boxes to check they were ok. If you buy one I would recommended opening them to check for the best one.

I have been using one for about 2 years and are extremely happy with it. Makes great sheets for lasagne and the pasta cutters work well. I havent had any issues of oil, however, agree with the handle and the dough will stick if its not kneaded to an inch of your wrists life in flour. Its pretty hassle free though if you have two people (one to catch the pasta after cutting or to feed/help with the rolling) … or you have three arms ;)
I'd still recommend it for the price and occasional (twice a month) pasta.

  • Bought a cheapie from Target or Kmart a year or so ago - it was also around the $10 mark as I recall, similar to the Aldi (although no colour). Quality was actually not bad - but I also checked through boxes just in case, and chose maybe the third one I opened. The first lot of pasta had a metallic/oily taste so was rubbish, but after the second or third lot it's been pretty good. Don't use it regularly, but when I do I find it works as well as any other I've used….

  • Bought one yesterday before seeing this post :(

    Returned it today as:

    1. the rollers stopped turning properly after a while. It managed to work quite well for the sacrificial pasta used to clean the machine but after that it wouldn't crank properly.
    2. the handle didn't fit into the linguine cutter at all and only partially into the tagliolini cutter. Even though it fits the rollers it drops out a lot
    3. quality of materials were terrible
