There is one interesting case report of a 60-year-old man who developed big ol' hooters and presented to a gland clinic for an answer. His gynecomastia eventually went away when they discovered he was drinking 3/4 of a GALLON of soy milk A DAY and told him to cut it out.

lucky for u jv and everyone else you won't be growing them titties seeing how its only 3.5% soy proteins. now finding the % of that are actually phytoestrogens, it would be so less than it doesn't count.

      drink till your hearts content.

  • Woo hoo time to stock up. Thanks!

Yay, finally I can have decent branded soy milk. Been drinking the $1.20 Coles soy milk and they taste nasty.

    • +1

If it tastes so nasty, why do you bother buying it? Isn't the extra cost worth the enjoyment of a better quality product sometimes? Especially when it's only milk we're talking about.. not a massive expense!

      • Cause the Vitasoy ones costs double of that price - $2.70 I think. And I drink heaps of soymilk due to lactose intolerance, at least 2 litres/day. I mask the nasty taste by adding honey or heaps of chocholate powder, LOL

Try the one at Aldi for $1.50. As nice (or even nicer) than So Good.

In case no one aware, this kind of milk contain lots of canola oil. They do this to modify their viscosity to mimic cow milk.
They said that fried food are bad for your health, but why drink canola oil contained in this?

Pure soy milk found in asian groceries are actually healthier because it is pure soy milk without any other unnecessary additive.

I used to buy these product until one day I see the ingredient, and decided not to get them anymore. I believe the oil defeated the purpose of healthy soy based protein of this product…

    • +10

      lots? lol….
look carefully at the nutritional information. if there were LOTS then the fat content would of shot up.

canola is actually good for you since it contains poly and mono fats.

your fried food argument is invalid due to the the fact only thing 'bad' is the amount of saturated fat in the food and the high amount of oil remaining on the food since it hasn't been fully drained. so once u consume it has a HIGH fat content. hence why people say it is bad.

please don't go spewing your rubbish information without having proper knowledge of what is going on.

yeah people might want to do your own study on canola oil. contrary to wide spread popular belief, seed based vegetable oils are highly suspect including the engineered canola.

a recent 15 minute broadcast on radio national from a csiro research scientist (though focused around coconut oil it discusses un/saturated fats): http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/ockhamsrazor/co…

        a contrary review/history of canola oil: http://www.westonaprice.org/know-your-fats/the-great-con-ola

despite this i still drink soy milk, but ben1860 while you are right regarding the chinese store soymilk the problem is they are soooo sweet - way too much sugar.

now let the fireworks begin (unless it is way too off topic mods :)

        • Hmm your citation techniques are suspect. Your coconut oil link actually discusses how coconut oil may not be as unhealthy as commonly held. Nothing said about canola oil. Your westonaprice article is from some random site. Do you believe everything you read on the Internet? I have a bridge for you.

And just for fair play did you know you can get unsweetened soy milk from Chinese grocers if you don't want sugar? And how do you know the soy milk there doesn't have added vege oil?

How much oil (BTW, it's not just canola, but also sunflower) are we talking about anyway? A look at the So Good Regular nutritional panel shows 3.4g per 100ml. That's all fats, not just the contribution from the vege oils. 3.4g, you'd consume more fat from a bag of chips which is much less healthy.

        • When it comes to canola oil, if it is hydrogenated, then it is a trans-fat and these oils can be harmful at levels around 0.5g per 100ml so the amount isn't necessary. So be careful of companies spruiking that their product only has 0.5% transfat.
However you look at it, I'd prefer to pay more for Vitasoy or other brands, which don't have any such 'fillers'.

        • The transfat line on the panel is 0.0g.

        • Then it is not hydrogenated soy milk, which is good. But I'd still rather get my vitasoy with no canola oil. But judging from a later comment from patientvalue, it may depend on which vitasoy you get. But I know for sure (I just checked) that my vitasoy organic has none.

        • just did a closer inspection of ingredients on the red vitasoy organic and it has only sunflower too. the Sogood on special from coles in this post has both sunflower and canola.

  • Does this purchase get me the chance to win One Direction tickets?

    • +10

No but if you drink it, you might attract them.

great price. but I prefer woolworths generic soy drink. "creamier"

What are the ingredients of So Good?

If I'm not mistaken, the last I checked, Vitasoy (red and white package) had the most simplest ingredients with the most soy content of the major brands in the supermarkets.

But of course $1 is super-cheap, UNLESS you decide to make your own soy milk and you can handily cut down on cost and packaging waste.

    • i picked up vitasoy orangic last night at coles $2 each - with about 17% soy protein. (and canola too for those reading my earlier post)

      • My vitasoy organic has no canola. It's the one in the green carton.

        • I use the green Vitasoy high-fibre for cereal. However, the Soy Milky variant, which contains sunflower oil, is nicer in coffee. The green one is less "creamy" and a little more "beany", whereas I can no longer taste any beaniness in Soy Milky.

    • compared to Vitasoy, So Good is so so nasty

      • true but better than cow milk which is blah

        • true but better than cow breast lactation. which is ……

  • There's no place for Soy aftertaste face! http://www.adnews.com.au/campaign/soy-aftertaste-face

    • Is there even such a thing as soy after taste? I drink soy over dairy and have never noticed this.
If I drink dairy now I actually find the taste quite weird as I'm so accustomed to soy.
Ohh, some of the organic full strength blends can be quite strong in taste but never an after taste.

      • I'm the same, it's one of those "Getting used to it things". The very first time you try beer in your life it's not a moment of "wow this is amazing".

  • Tastes like ass tho… before i quit soy we drank the Macro organic one.. was definately the nicest taste for us.

    Now I'm primal/paleo.. no soy!

  • Any more studies on linkages with memory?

    http://www.lboro.ac.uk/service/publicity/news-releases/2008/…

  • I love soy posts, it always brings the anti-soy conspirators out of the wood works who happily drink cows milk and ignore all the negative side affects that researchers link to it. There's a case in this world for pro v con on everything.

      • Soymilk underwent a very long preparation process to get rid of anti-nutrients and it was consumed with shrimp or egg yolk, ingredients that helped compensate for the many anti-nutrients that remained. Mostly a food for the elderly …

I wonder if this "expert" has been to Asia. Soymilk is a common refreshment beverage there. Very long preparation process? It's made and sold on the streets within the day. Shrimp and egg yolk with it? Looxury! Are Asians retarded? Maybe the "expert" is.

  • My 2 cents.

Guys.. Worlds 90% of the SOY and Wheat production is Genetically Modified.
And numerous studies are coming out saying that GMO's cause cancer and tumors. And many countries are banning it, just search for all the shit Monsanto is doing.

I like many people prefer SOY and Almond milk but I would pay extra any day to get Organic non-GMO milk.

    • I believe So Good use non-GM Soy. Well, according to their website "identity preserved" Soy

Ŧ So Good uses soy protein that is Identity Preserved. Identity Preserved means that every stage from seed to supermarket is controlled, to maintain segregation and minimise the possibility of mixing Identity Preserved soybeans with any genetically modified soybeans.
