I don't think there are going to be too many bargains eg they are advertising the STRDN1030 receiver for $697. Video Pro have it for $696.30 http://www.videopro.com.au/p-5755-sony-strdn1030-black-av-re…

    Are these prices negotiable REP?

Interesting. I am pretty sure Sony Centre is actually run by Video Pro.

      • They are. I wanted to buy a lens that was about $420 at Videopro. They were out of stock so they directed me to the nearest Sony Centre, who wanted to sell it to me for $490. I told them Videopro directed me here and they sell it for $420. They said no problem as they're actually run by Videopro.

Information on sale items is seriously lacking. Can't be bothered to get there and be disappointed.

    • +1

I agree. Would only be worth checking it out if you are in the area.

    • and normally no disclosure means the price is too embarrassing to be listed out, remember there was quarter David Jones has refused to disclose their financials? as if public was awared of what has happened

Why don't you post them here, it's too cold and wet to go out…

  • Wonder if they have an Xperia Z Tablets….?

… as much as I'd LOVE to fly down from Brisbane to take a look… don't really want to take a punt on that, haha

      • +2

He's probably wondering if someone will report back if they go and take a look. Spamming the same quote 3 times in the first 10 comments on a deal really doesn't add anything.

I remember when the Xperia Z was released. Sony Centres were selling it for $749, everywhere else had them for $624 … I'll not be bothered with a Sony Centres again and can see why they are closing down.

  • Details from their last sale: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/100748

I went there last time, i wouldn't mind the NFC speakers (SRSBTM8B) but they are only 4W and probably below cost still more expensive than ebay, which had them for $60 at one point.

Note, there are new sony surround sound systems coming with 4K and NFC and wireless rear speakers. I imported one from Amazon Germany and pretty happy with it (except the price). It can even handle mp4 and mkv.

Also there are new Sony TVs coming with miracast / WiDi too I believe. So you can wirelessly show your laptop (and possibly mobile) screen onto the TV.

Opened in April 2013 and already End of Lease in July? Sounds like they are not in for the long haul after all.

      • +1

I work 100m away, they've been there for at least 5 years.

        • I'd say longer.. Closer to 10 I think

        • +2

I'll see your 10 and raise you 15.

      • +1

I looked at the above link of their last sale back in April 2013 in which the
REP made it sound like it was a new store opening:

Melbourne’s only Sony Outlet store is now open at Chapel St.

        • +1

They were a Sony Concept store for a long time as others have mentioned - it was only recently they changed to an outlet store

      • Easily 10 years. Being a concept/flagship store i'd be surprised if they ever made any money. I wonder where/how they're repositioning themselves.

Just went in at lunchtime. Not one good deal. Don't bother

  • Not sure if real bargains, but got the last Sony Zeiss 62mm ND filter(vf-62ndam) +Sony 74mm circular polariser(vf-74cp)+ Sony stp-xs1am strap for $20 total. there were three more of the circular polarisers left and plenty of straps. Tried to price match the xba-3 ($99) with video pro but not able too. Ps..the polariser was listed at $279 rrp….yeah right=)
